TECHNOLOGY CONTRACT WITH CLOUD INGENUITY

City Council approved a technology contract with Cloud Ingenuity LLC during the January 21, 2025, meeting. The contract involves the purchase and installation of Nutanix hardware and software infrastructure at the City Hall Data Center and the Police Department Data Center. Funding for the project will come from existing capital funds. The technology upgrade aims to enhance the city’s data infrastructure.

FORNEY MARKETPLACE RETAIL

Council approved site plans for two multitenant retail buildings in Forney Marketplace during their January 21, 2025, meeting, following Planning and Zoning Commission recommendations on January 2, 2025. The first project, Lot 2E, features a 30,450-square-foot retail center with 135 parking spaces. Located north of U.S. Highway 80 and west of Marketplace Boulevard, it is adjacent to Kohl’s and Kroger. The second project, Lot 2A, is a 27,529-square-foot retail center with 145 parking spaces, situated near Crunch Fitness. These developments align with the Forney Marketplace Planned Development zoning standards, which allow retail and restaurant uses.

FEDC INCENTIVE AGREEMENT

PROPOSED BRIDGE OPEN HOUSE

The City of Forney is exploring options for a new bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad to improve safety and reduce traffic delays. To share more details about this project and gather valuable community input, the City of Forney will host an open house on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Forney City Hall Annex (101 E. The Forney City Council approved an expenditure and an Economic Incentive and Performance Agreement between the Forney Economic Development Corporation (FEDC) and McCrea Ventures, LLC. The agreement, previously approved by the FEDC on October 10, 2024, allows McCrea Ventures d/b/a Doe Belly’s and The San James to operate and improve 6,940 square feet of restaurant space at 120 E. Main Street and 5,000 square feet of bar/lounge space at 118 E. Main Street. The City’s approval is required under Section 501.073 of the Texas Local Government Code before any FEDC funds can be granted.
