BOWIE AND YORK STREETS WATERLINE REPLACEMENT
City Council has approved a resolution to award a contract to Estrada Concrete Company, LLC for the Bowie and York Streets Waterline Replacement Project. This project includes replacing the aging waterlines along Bowie Street, from Lovers Lane to Pinson Road, and York Street, from Brazos to Redbud. The existing waterlines have experienced a significant increase in leaks, often leaving homeowners without water while City Public Works conducted repairs. These frequent leaks have strained our water delivery system and contributed to water loss, making this replacement project essential for improved service reliability.
DUTCH BROS COMING SOON
Council has approved the acceptance of public improvements for the Dutch Bros project at 870 N FM 548, marking one of the final steps before opening. Dutch Bros’ menu includes hot, iced ,and blended coffees as well as smoothies and energy drinks. Stay tuned for the opening date!
NORTH FM 548 AND NORTH GATEWAY BOULEVARD DEVELOPMENT
City Council has approved an expenditure under Section 501.073 of the Texas Local Government Code and an Economic Incentive and Performance Agreement between the Forney Economic Development Corporation (FEDC) and Seneca Village, LLC. Under this agreement, the owner will develop a commercial retail center at the northeast corner of North FM 548 and North Gateway Boulevard in Forney. Planned tenants for this development include a Bahama Buck's Shaved Ice Co. and a postal logistics center.
HAPPY RETIREMENT, KYRAN!
At the meeting, former Senior Construction Inspector Kyran Hayes was honored for his service and recent retirement from the City of Forney. Kyran joined our Public Works Department in 2002 and has served the city in various roles over the years. In 2017, he became our Senior Construction Inspector. Congratulations, and thank you for your service to the City of Forney!
The City Council and Temporary Board of Directors of the Forney Crime Control and Prevention District will have a Special Meeting on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of Canvassing the November 5, 2024 Special Election results.
