LAKEPOINTE CHURCH DONATION
The City Council gratefully accepted a generous $25,000 donation from Lakepointe Church, with $12,500 allocated to both the police and fire departments. These funds will be used to replace essential equipment and enhance the Swift Water Program. We sincerely thank Lakepointe Church for their incredible generosity and dedication to supporting our community.
AXON ENTERPRISES
The City Council approved a $1,068,415.09 five-year contract with Axon Enterprises, Inc. to provide body-worn cameras, fleet cameras, cloud-based video evidence storage, and Taser equipment. This upgrade addresses ongoing storage capacity issues with the current system, which no longer meets the needs of the growing police department. Axon, known for its excellent customer service and state-of-the-art equipment, also enables Forney PD to upgrade Tasers at 2024 pricing throughout the contract.
NICE LOGGING SYSTEM
Council approved an agreement with Motorola Solutions, Inc. for the purchase, installation, and configuration of NICE Logging Recorder Equipment, including an ASTRO Archiving Interface Server and Customer Enterprise Network for Logger. This system integrates seamlessly with the City’s existing Motorola Solutions architecture, enhancing 9-1-1 communications by storing call data and audio for up to 120 simultaneous calls, including trunked talk groups and conventional channels. The NICE system also integrates with Tyler Technologies CAD and other GMRS agencies, ensuring compatibility and improved efficiency.
NEW YEAR’S EVE BALL DROP
On December 31st, the City of Forney will host its annual New Year’s Eve Ball Drop in Downtown Forney. The event will feature live music, food trucks, and other activities, beginning at 8 p.m. For more information, please visit forneytx.gov.
