COMMUNITY PARK ROADWAY EXTENSION
City Council approved a professional services agreement with KSA Engineers for the Community Park Roadway Extension, part of the 2022 Roadway Bond Project. This project involves extending Justice Center Drive by about 1/3 mile to Holly Leaf Trail, creating a threelane road with streetscape amenities, lighting, and on-street parking. It also includes expanding the Spellman Amphitheater parking lot and installing a new waterline. KSA Engineers was selected after a thorough evaluation process, and the contract will not exceed $996,940. Non-bond items will be funded by Park and CIP Funds, with any additional costs requiring City Manager approval.
FM 548 / MONITOR CONNECTOR
Council approved a professional services agreement with Birkhoff, Hendricks & Carter, LLP for the FM 548 / Monitor Connector, a part of the Roadway Bond Project. This project includes engineering design, bidding, and construction administration for a 3,900-foot, 4-lane divided roadway within a 90-foot right-of-way. The road will connect FM 548 on the west with a future Florence Drive on the east. Birkhoff, Hendricks & Carter, LLP was selected after a competitive evaluation process, and the contract will not exceed $1,384,725. Non-bond-related items will be funded by Park and CIP Funds, with any additional costs requiring approval from the City Manager.
HELMS TRAIL RESURFACING
City Council approved an escrow agreement with Wayfare Acquisitions, LLC, for funding the resurfacing of a ½ mile section of Helms Trail north of Sage Hill Parkway. Under this agreement, Wayfare Acquisitions, LLC, the property owner at 12126 Helms Trail, will work with the City and Republic Title of Texas, Inc. as the escrow agent to ensure the necessary funds are allocated for the resurfacing project.
FORNEY CRIME CONTROL & PREVENTION DISTRICT REFERENDUM
Early Voting for the November 5, 2024, Special Election regarding the proposed Forney Crime Control & Prevention District referendum will begin next Monday, October 21st, and will end Friday, November 1st. If approved by voters, the CCPD will NOT increase our sales tax rate.
