The clubs officers are Ted Richardson, President; Sue Bates, Vice President; and Mark Hutchinson, Secretary-Treasurer.
A story of the year must, out of tradition , present the highlights of the year. So also must the problems be presented, so the yearbook presents a behind the scenes look at the Trials and Tribulations of GHS. 68-69.

Every year a ne,~ group of officers and representatives are elected to Student Council. They go in with enthusiasm and great expectations. But, it takes more than dreams to make a great Student Council. This year ' s Student Council had more than dreams; they had responsible people led by Mr Dick Booton who planned and carried through a successful year. This year
Student Council sent buses to the basketball games which boosted everyone's spirit. They a l so took over the election of Mr. and Miss Demon in hopes of making it a very high honor. Everything must start as a dream, but it took this year ' s Student Council to make this year at GHS a Success.
The childr en at Ridge home a r e a little happ i er since Golden's Future Business Leaders of America made them their project for the year. They sent stuffed toys and othe r various items to the cl1ild ren Their spo n so r is Mrs. Freda Reitz who i s helping the 1nembers to develop qualities n ecessa ry in becoming Future Business Leaders .
There's a lot more to FTA than learning how to be teachers. For example, at carnival they had a booth. They also have guest speakers and visit different colleges. The most fulfilling event of the year was a visit to a head start school at Christmas . They put on a play and it was hard to tell who had more fun, the kids or the performers. Another exciting event of the year was the State FTA convention in Fort Collins.
Debating, listening, questioning, and speaking can all be heard when the meetings of the Golden Fortune Voice of Youth are held. Led by Mr. Lowell Sharp and Mr. Jerry Garland the students strive to develop leadership through clear open-minded thought. This year they were inv olved in two television programs, and published editor ial s in the Trident and Denver Post .
This year ' s Honor Society kept busy in promoting sc hool sp irit and enthusiasm. They sponsored a "Pants Day" to raise money for the ir various proJects. They showed their great ability as ushers during the senior play. They also s ponsor ed an assembly for the honor roll students at the end of the first semester and attended the Honor Society conference in March at Boulder.
Speaking often and well is Competitive Speech ' s motto. During the year they attended 15 invitational tournaments, one district qualifying contest, the state festival, and the state tournament. The big highlight of the year was a two- night stay in Alamosa for an invitational meet.
If you ' ve ever walked by 11 8 11 building at 7 : 30 on a Tuesday or Thursday n1orning and noticed a conglomeration of tattered and brand new letter jackets, you \Vere vie\ving a "G" Club meeting sponsored by Mr. Darrell Hailing. "G" Club's biggest serv i ce is se l ling tags and pins, which add to game spirit. I n the past the proceeds have paid for a scoreboard and a movie proJector.
Lookout
How can a club possibly exist with a ll boys and no girls. Well, it so happens that Key Club has more than 60 members all of which are boys and they all l i ke i t . Mr. Art Papenfus, sponsor, says that the best way of gett i ng boys, after brainwashi ng, is to give them l ots of activities This year they had a booth at Carnival, a Homecoming float, distributed canned goods at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and had a cam pout at the end of the year. Although i t ' s a blow to girls' egos, its helpi ng to develop t he members i nto leaders and me n.
Hard work is always on the agenda for Key Club members . Here
