Myth #8: Who Oversees Local Schools?
Goodyear has incredible public, private and charter schools to serve the community. In many other parts of the county, the local governments control the local schools. In Arizona, schools have their own elected boards that establish the vision, budget and goals for their school or district. In fact, there are even certain city regulations that schools don’t have to follow in Arizona. For example, state law doesn’t let cities regulate where schools locate in the city. They are also not required to comply with other zoning provisions, including maximum height limitations and minimum lot size and parking requirements.
