SAVE YOUR MONEY. BORROW OUR TOOLS. Missing a tool to complete your home project?
Do you know someone who has an eviction or a poor rental or credit history that is keeping them from finding quality and affordable housing? The City of Lansing sponsors a free program called Rent Smart that can help overcome these barriers. Rent Smart is an intensive interactive workshop that focuses on the knowledge and skills essential for a successful renting experience. It challenges participants to know and understand their rights and responsibilities as well as that of their landlord. Emphasis is on forming a strong partnership between the tenant and landlord, understanding key terms in the lease, how to handle maintenance requests, and budgeting, among other things. This program, developed by the University of Wisconsin, consists of four 2-hour weekly sessions and will help in establishing a positive rental history and starts participants on the path for success. For more information or to register, please call the Office of Housing Ombudsman Joe McDonald at 517-4834019 or visit lansingmi.gov/housingombudsman.
