Paint with Joy: Watercolour Flowers

This workshop will explore the beautiful and absorbing world of plants. Participants will start with loose floral forms and then, working at their own pace, will be supported to create more detailed specimens and ways to form them into pleasing watercolour compositions. Explorer, ornithologist, pilot, soldier, geographer and photographer, Hubert Wilkins was a South Australian gentleman of many abilities! Come and hear local historian David Jarman’s newly-researched talk about the lesser-known adventurer Sir Hubert’s rich life and extraordinary exploits.

Secrets of the Buildings on North Terrace

Commissioner's Digital Challenge: Space to Dream

We challenge you to design a toy or gadget for a child your age who is headed to live on Mars! This is a design thinking challenge where you will use the 5-step approach to meet the needs of a person living on Mars. We will ask questions like: what do they need, what do they like and what idea is so crazy it just might work? By the end we will have a completed design that can be submitted to the Commisioner's Digital Challenge!

Would your teddy like to spend a night at the library? We have organised an amazing sleepover for your favourite stuffed toy! Drop off one toy (per child) on Wednesday, making sure to clearly label your toy with your name for easy identification.

One Act Play Festival

As part of the Marion Cultural Centre’s 21st birthday celebrations , Galleon Theatre Group, St Jude’s and Deadset Theatre Company will be performing in a Weekend of One Acts. St Jude’s Players will be performing BANANAS, an Australian comedy written by Richard Bradshaw and directed by Geoff Brittain. The Scientific Bubble Show

Discover the amazing science of bubbles with bubble-ologist Marty McBubble!! How are bubble created? Why do they pop? What shapes and colours can bubbles make? Is a bubble a solid, a liquid or a gas? What's it like to be inside a bubble? Children will discover all of this and much more as Marty engages their natural sense of wonder with his interactive bubbly experiments.

Dungeons & Dragons

Don't know what it is yet? A group of players get to explore a fantasy world, building the story as you go. It's like a board game, but without the board. You get to decide what your character does, often determined through dice rolls. Share some laughs and by the end of it you have created a magnificent story. You get to build your character which gets better over time, fight the bad guys and monsters, save all kinds of people, gain rewards and find treasure, gain XP and level up. Everything is provided, you don't need anything to come along and try it out.

Cooking with Oz Harvest

Six great sessions that include easy and fun weekly module activities. A practical cooking lessons culminating with the sharing of a meal together.

At the final workshop, everyone receives a certificate and take-home tool kit, with infographic fact sheets and OzHarvest Everyday Cookbook.
