The Words Within Us is a series of intergenerational programs designed to connect older people with younger generations. The aim of this initiative is to create positive experiences, meaningful connections, and share life experiences through the power of storytelling. Whether you are young or young at heart, Marion Libraries offers a range of experiences to help you meaningfully engage with others and create friendships.

Intergenerational Storytelling with Filmmaker Holly Winter

Looking to connect with others? Got a story to tell? “Words Within Us” is an opportunity for you to connect with people and share your stories. Facilitated by filmmaker Holly Winter, participants will work with each other to capture the life stories of Marion using the libraries' Content Creator Kits. A viewing night will be held to share stories at the end of the program. Refreshments provided.

Intergenerational Storytelling

Looking to connect with others? Got a story to tell? Come and join our intergenerational storytelling sessions at Park Holme Library. Come solo or with a child, enjoy a book, help a little one build literacy skills, stay for a cuppa and chat.

Visit any Marion Library Service branch during opening hours from Monday 13 November – Saturday 16 December to donate new children's books. These books will be distributed to families in need of extra support over Christmas time thanks to the Smith Family.

Community Film Screening Afternoon

Are you an aspiring filmmaker or someone who simply loves cinema?

Marion Libraries is hosting a community film screening afternoon where anyone can submit a short film of their own creation to be showcased in the Domain Theatre. We welcome all ages and skill levels to submit their film via our Eventbrite page or reserve your spot in the audience for a relaxed afternoon spent enjoying cinema.

Happy Hubert Swim School

Are you interested in volunteering and have a passion for teaching English?

The City of Marion Community Centres are currently looking for enthusiastic ESL (English as a Second Language) Tutors.

We are looking for people who would like to volunteer some time supporting members of the community with building their English skills in 1-on-1 English support tutoring and group “class” sessions. Experience in teaching English is desired but not essential.

Tax Time Help

Need some help with your tax return?

An ATO Tax Help Program volunteer is available to assist eligible people on low incomes with lodging their tax return.

Face to face appointments are available on Mondays at Glandore Community Centre.
