Acknowledge Reconciliation Week with us as we welcome author and retired magistrate Garry Hiskey to talk about his book, Maralinga: The struggle for return of the lands. The British Government notoriously conducted a series of atomic bomb tests in South Australia's Maralinga lands during the 1950s and 1960s, moving the traditional owners to Yalata. Garry will give us a firsthand account of this story of intrigue, divided loylaties, political controversy, voting rights, and of a mining company finding itself the meat in the sandwich in a battle of wills as to who should be permitted to explore and mine the lands on which the customs and beliefs of Anangu were based.

Craft-astic: Crochet for Beginners

Welcome to the Art House, a space for preteens and young adults to express themselves through art. Coordinated by our talented tutor Mary, participants can tackle their own personal artwork, continue with a project from school or be directed by Mary and try something new. After the upheaval we have all encountered last year, the Art House Group may well provide the unconventional therapy you need to inspire resilience, relieve stress and increase self esteem.

This course is aimed at absolute beginners. A patient instructor will cover the basic skills needed to make a granny square or triangle, which can then be joined to create bunting, a scarf or a rug. Come along for a chat and cuppa and get hooked on crochet.
