Robert Horne Tuesday 27 July

Book Talk Tuesday: Robert Horne 'The Glass Harpoon' The charming Matthew Larkin comes to South Australia in 1842 to join his brother James in the rough life of building a new colony. Matthew wins the heart of the Governor's smart and impulsive niece, Lucy Bray, and when he meets school teacher and friend of the Kaurna people, William Cawthorne, he becomes enthralled by the culture of the aboriginal people and earns the disapproval of other colonists. When the brothers move to their holding in the north of the colony, they become embroiled in a battle for the existence of an ancient culture and for the soul of the new colony after tensions arise and shooting parties begin. This is an important novel about friendship, aboriginal culture, frontier violence and the meaning of the law. Get Low

Bend & Stretch

Zumba Gold

Gentle, low-impact, slow-motion movement incorporating breath. The muscles and joints are used in a relaxed manner, not tensed or fully extended. Ideal for those who may have instability or lower body restrictions. Perhaps if meditation is not your thing, Tai Chi might be! It's meditation in movement and helps keep you moving gently and mindfully. Mondays during school term, 2.30pm–3.15pm Cooinda Neighbourhood Centre

GETLOW® is a beat-driven, low impact workout designed to ignite your mind, move your body and improve your wellbeing. This 45 minute full body workout uses boxing, dance, light weights and cardio to transform your mind and body to some seriously good beats.

We all know we should do it but do we? Bending and stretching alleviates back, joint and muscle pain, frees up your body from tightness, increases your mobility and flexibility, improves posture, reduces stress, promotes circulation and reduces risk of injury. This is a great add-on class to complement any of our classes! Suitable for guys.

This is a unique approach to Zumba Fitness that's suitable for ALL levels. The classes follow a truly beginner and injury-friendly format, will go at a more gentle pace and you will enjoy more verbal guidance. You don't need a dance background, all you need is the desire to have fun dancing your way around the world!

Art House – Teen Art

Sculpting with Plaster

Tuesday Clay Play

A social group promoting engagement in fun, sensory and skill based activities for kids living with autism in grades 1 to 7 or 5 to 13 year olds. This inclusive group is popular with great friendship outcomes. Additionally a parent can stay on site in a separate room as they create their very own support group or attend the yoga session in another building.

Welcome to the Art House, a space for teens and young adults to express themselves through art. Coordinated by our talented tutor, Mary, participants can tackle their own personal artwork, continue with a project from school or be directed by Mary and try something new.

Let your imagination run wild with a wet gauze plaster sculpture. Much like you would make a plaster cast for a broken arm, you drape, mold and contour the Modroc plaster gauze over your sculpture base, create the final shape, then bring your sculpture to life with paint and sealer. You will be surprised at what you can achieve with this technique. Ages 10 to 16 year olds.

Come and play with clay, a somewhat messy but fun class that sees you produce a new item each week and explore a range of techniques for creating handmade pottery from pinch pots, slabs, coils and more. Clay will be fired to ensure it will last a lifetime.
