Red Cross PeopleSavers Youth First Aid Course PeopleSavers is a 4-level program developed by the Canadian Red Cross to teach safety awareness and first aid skills to elementary school-aged children. Participants follow the PeopleSavers character for each level through a variety of everyday situations that are potentially dangerous and they learn to check for safety, call for help, and care for an injured person. Red Deer Catalina Swim Club Est. 1952 Established in 1952, the Catalina Swim Club is one of Alberta’s oldest amateur swimming clubs. Catalina’s long held traditions of Canadian, club and personal excellence are nurtured within a progressive teaching and development environment. Nationally and provincially certified coaches guide aspiring swimmers as they develop sport and life skills, build self-esteem, assertiveness, confidence, and physical fitness in a fun environment. This camp is for anyone who plans to enter the competitive program this year or is considering it. No experience necessary, but swimmers should be able to swim 50m unassisted. The training camp will run for 10 hours and will provide an opportunity for athletes to get back in shape and have their needs assessed by the Head Coach. Participants will be asked to decide if they wish to commit to the full season prior to the end of the camp. Routines will be assigned based on age group and experience. The regular training season will run from Sep 17 to May 31 and athletes will train 6.5-12.5 hours per week (Mon, Tue, Wed and/or Fri) depending on routine placement. Red Cross Swim Preschool – Parented (Ages 4-36mos)

These introductory preschool classes are designed to include active participation of a parent or caregiver. The instructors will provide different methods for you and your child to experience buoyancy, movement and safe entries, while singing songs and playing in the water. The first three levels, Starfish (4–12 months), Duck (12–24 months), and Sea Turtle (24–36 months) focus on water orientation and water safety. Program levels maybe combined to offer participants greater flexibility in selecting classes.
Red Cross Swim Preschool – Unparented (Ages 3-5yrs) Come and join a non-parented preschool lesson designed to be fun, using lots of songs, games, and themes. The last five levels for ages 3 to 5, Sea Otter, Salamander, Sunfish, Crocodile, and Whale build swimming skills and teach age-specific water safety. This program is designed to appeal to preschool children through games and activities that engage their imagination while they learn skills and increase their knowledge. The City of Red Deer offers the Red Cross Swim Kids Programs for children ages 6 and up. Help your child develop a healthy lifestyle through swimming. Your child will learn to swim and stay safe in a fun environment that promotes a personal best and celebrates individual success. The 10 levels allow for solid progression. Children learn competitive and survival strokes, and build their distance and speed, while focusing on making safe decisions in, on and around the water. In each level, participants are evaluated based on performance criteria and progress to the next level once all criteria have been successfully completed.

Red Deer Pond Hockey Red Deer Pond Hockey is a fun, family oriented, no-hit ice hockey league where boys and girls of all skill levels between the ages of 6-17 play hockey in four different age groups. The league consists of one indoor game per week, one outdoor practice per week (starting January) and two festival-style outdoor tournaments per year.
