Red Cross PeopleSavers Youth First Aid Course PeopleSavers is a 4-level program developed by the Canadian Red Cross to teach safety awareness and first aid skills to elementary school-aged children. Red Deer Catalina Swim Club Est. 1952 Established in 1952, the Catalina Swim Club is one of Alberta’s oldest amateur swimming clubs. Catalina’s long held traditions of Canadian, club and personal excellence are nurtured within a progressive teaching and development environment. Nationally and provincially certified coaches guide aspiring swimmers as they develop sport and life skills, build self-esteem, assertiveness, confidence, and physical fitness in a fun environment. Catalina is a competitive swim club with a progressive development structure for advancement from novice to national level competitor: Beginning and intermediate squads train during the school year. Advanced swimmers train and compete during the school year and may advance on to championship level competitions in July. Catalina offers a PRE-COMPETITIVE PROGRAM as an instructional introduction to the strokes and skills of competitive swimming. We offer a 9 or 10 week session with three one-hour instructed classes per week. Each class embodies 55 minutes of water competitive skill acquisition along with 5 minutes introduction to stretching and dryland activities. Swimmers must be capable of swimming at least 25 meters on their front or back unassisted without stopping. Pre-competitive classes will run 3 days per week: Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays 4:00-5:00 p.m. at the Michener Pool Next Sessions: January 16-March 24, 2012 (10 weeks) April 2 - June 1, 2012 (9 weeks) Cost $285.00/session Swim Alberta Associate Fee - $47.00/year Total $332.00

Central Alberta AIDS Network Society (CAANS) The AIDS Network is a local charity that offers support to individuals who are infected or affected by HIV/AIDS and provides prevention, harm reduction and education throughout Central Alberta. CAANS runs three support groups; 1) Next Step is a peersupport group for current and former drug users. Next Step’s goal is to build the capacity of people who use drugs and to educate and advocate within the larger community on issues related to drug use and addictions; and 2) Keeping Connected is an informal peer-support group for people living with HIV/AIDS. It is a social network for individuals living with HIV to share their lived experiences, provide support to others facing similar challenges, and to make social connections in the community. 3) Queer Coffee – Gay ~ Lesbian ~ Bisexual ~ Trans ~ Queer ~ Allies - runs at 7pm on first Wednesday of the month, call Jennifer or Candice @ 403-346-8858 for location. CAANS also offers an anonymous warning system for people involved in sex work that want to report a Bad Date. A Bad Date is when a sex worker is assaulted, raped, kidnapped, robbed, treated with aggression, or experiences something else they would want others to avoid. Start out with a cardio component that will focus on the techniques and strategies for beginner runners who want to learn how to run more efficiently. A fractal is a mathematics term coined by Benoit Mandelbrot that describe equations which are the best existing mathematical descriptions of many natural forms, such as coastlines, snowflakes, crystals, and mountains or parts of living organisms.
