much more to ensure that individuals can get connected with longer-term services to support their well-being.

Faith Food Friday Empowers Others to Grow
For years Faith Food Friday has been filling the bellies of the hungry, feeding and clothing the souls who cross their threshold and growing an organization that now serves thousands of Vallejoans.
On October 13, 2022, a new project broke ground, the "Learning Community Garden," built by and for volunteers and community members.
What started as a "seedling" of an idea, created in collaboration by Faith Food Friday's proprietor, MaryAnn Buggs, and Vallejo Beautification Commissioner Roxie Reyes, has "blossomed" into a full-blown community project quickly!
Roxanne began planting food and sharing the seedlings with client community members over the summer. She and other volunteers spent hours clearing the site, and now, with the help of partners Sustainable Solano, the garden site is coming together.
Volunteers from Self Help Credit Union, WAHEO, Angels with Hearts, and CalMaritime cadets have helped prepare the space and installed new grow beds in November.
This project is likely to have multiple impacts (direct and indirect) on the health and wellbeing of the client. Regular involvement in gardening is a physical activity and a wellestablished way to encourage a healthy lifestyle. MaryAnn and Roxanne promote strengthening community and social ties by providing a space for positive social, emotional, and relationship-based interactions in the garden. Art is also part of the project; these Love Bugs were painted and will be included in the garden!
Thanks to the vision, determination, and willpower of Roxanne and MaryAnn, the garden will soon provide fresh greens and other nutritious vegetables.
To volunteer with Learning Community Garden, please contact Maryann Buggs at MaryAnn@faithfoodfridays.com or visit https:// faithfoodfridays.com/volunteer/
