Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an 8-hour training course designed to give members of the public critical skills to assist someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Like CPR training, which allows someone without medical training to assist an individual experiencing a medical emergency, MHFA training can help anyone who may be experiencing a mental health crisis.

#Blackhistorymonth
In 1966, Belva Davis became the first Black female television reporter on the West Coast when she was hired as an anchor at KPIX-TV in San Francisco. Born to a 15-year-old Louisiana laundry worker during the Great Depression, and raised in the projects of Oakland, Davis overcame racism and sexism to become one of the most respected local journalists in the country and helped change the face and focus of broadcast news. In a career spanning half a century, Davis has reported many of the most explosive stories of the era, including the Berkeley student protests, the birth of the Black Panthers, the Peoples
Temple cult that ended in the mass suicides at Jonestown, the assassinations of San Francisco Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk, the onset of the AIDS epidemic and the terrorist attacks in Africa that first put Osama bin Laden on the FBI’s Most Wanted List. During her career, she soldiered in the trenches in the battle for racial equality and brought stories of Black Americans out of the shadows and into the light of day. She remains active in the Bay Area community. You can continue reading about Belva Davis at BelvaDavis.com, or watch her discuss her memoir, Never in My Wildest Dreams, here.
