ALL FIREWORKS ARE ILLEGAL IN THE CITY OF VALLEJO Illegal fireworks injure more than 10,000 people annually across the United States. Additionally, they cause millions of dollars in property damage every fire season. Even sparklers can reach temperatures of 1000 degrees Fahrenheit, enough to cause serious injuries. The best way to enjoy a fireworks display is to view a professional show from a distance. All fireworks are illegal in the City of Vallejo. Be responsible and help keep our community safe. To report illegal fireworks activity or for more information, visit cityofvallejo.net/reportfireworks. The City of Valljeo, the Vallejo Police Department and the Vallejo Fire Department wish everyone a SAFE and enjoyable Independence Day. You can view the public service announcement video regarding fireworks, in English, Spanish, or Tagalog.

VALLEJO FIREFIGHTERS RECEIVE CUTTING EDGE UNMANNED DRONE PILOT TRAINING FOR EMERGENCY INCIDENTS
PLEASE TRAVEL
For six days in early June, Vallejo Firefighters along with their counterparts across Solano County received training from Steel City Drones Flight Academy. Unmanned aircraft are quickly proving their immense benefits for larger-scale emergency incidents. This recent drone pilot training is primarily aimed to assist emergency responders to identify harmful and hazardous substances from a safe distance. Newer drone technology now makes it possible to keep first responders in a safe location, while the unmanned aircraft flies into an emergency scene, such as a hazardous materials spill. Drone technology can also assist with locating victims, deliver payloads such as flotation devices, and scene surveys. All of this can be done while also providing an aerial view of the emergency scene. All Vallejo Fire Department employees that participated in the training are members of the Solano County Interagency HazMat team.

PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD OPEN ON I-80/ HIDDENBROOKE INTERCHANGE PROJECT The City of Vallejo is proposing operational improvements at the I-80/Hiddenbrooke Parkway interchange to address existing and future vehicle queues on Hiddenbrooke Parkway. The project will convert the existing stop signcontrolled intersections of the I-80 ramps with American Canyon Road and Hiddenbrooke Parkway, and the intersection of Hiddenbrooke Parkway and McGary Road, into roundabouts. Conversion of these intersections to roundabouts will not require modification of the existing American Canyon Road overcrossing of I-80. The project will require modification of the on and off-ramps where they intersect with local roads but would not involve changes to the ramp connections with I-80 or the existing mainline of the freeway. All proposed improvements would occur within existing State and local public rights of way. No displacement of an existing business or homes, nor the acquisition of private property would be required. In addition, no nonstandard design features are necessary to implement the project All environmental documents and other information can be obtained here. If you have comments or questions, direct them to the Project Manager, David Yatabe at david.yatabe@ cityofvallejo.net

SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE CITY’S AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN FUNDS! On March 11, 2021, the American Rescue Plan was signed. This legislation provides $1.9 trillion to address the COVID-19 pandemic, and the corresponding economic crisis. Part of this relief package included Local Fiscal Recovery funds for each city, town, county, and state to aid in the recovery effort. The City of Vallejo will receive $25,727,736 and we need YOUR input to help us determine how to best use these funds for our community. Share your ideas, post your questions, get more information, and subscribe to receive updates at the American Rescue Plan Act project, at myvallejo.com.
