Fun Facts & HELPFUL HINTS 1. Cut banner pieces from holiday cards to give your layout a festive touch. 2. Amy Mallory created this page as part of her Days of December album. Her boys love finding the elf, which she’s included on every page. Amy’s layout was selected because we love her layered background and cute holiday accents. Joy to the World by Amy Mallory. Digital Supplies: Software: Adobe; Cardstock and epoxy bracket: Maplebrook Studios; Patterned paper, banners, blendables, brushes, epoxy elf, flowers, frames, pinned date, and tags: Katie Pertiet; Word art: Ali Edwards Designs; Fonts: CK Jot, LB Shindig, and Sweetly Broken.

Is There Any Place More Magical? by Betsy Gourley. Fun Facts & HELPFUL HINTS 1. Make your own accent by fussy cutting a design from patterned paper and adding embellishments, like Fresh Face Betsy Gourley did for her cityscape accent. 34 creatingkeepsakes.com

2. Betsy had taken many business trips to New York City, but never so close to Christmas. She loved seeing all the lights and decorations!

Betsy’s layout was selected because

the subtly angled placement of her photos and accents adds so much visual interest to the layout.

Raising Awareness by Erin Keith. Digital Supplies: Software: Adobe; Patterned paper: Helena Jole and Jannylynn; Ribbon: Sherri Tierney; Template: Katie Pertiet; Fonts: Century Gothic and Windsong.

THANKFUL FOR RAISING AWARENESS Capture the friendships and good times that activities to raise awareness for a cause can bring. Thankful for a chance to help others learn more about autism, Erin Keith scrapbooked the local Walk for Autism her family participated in, photographing the details of the day that meant so much to her family. CELEBRATE THE MAGIC WITHIN

The Magic Is in You by Devra Hunt. Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper; Patterned paper: BasicGrey; Chipboard: BoBunny Press; Stickers: Advantus, Best Creation, and Making Memories; Ink: Clearsnap; Paint: Making Memories and Ranger Industries; Pen and adhesive: EK Success; Other: Adhesive, glitter glue, and stamp. 44 creatingkeepsakes.com

Everyone needs a cheerleader: someone who believes in them and encourages them to trust themselves. Create a cheerleading layout to encourage a loved one or remind him how far he’s come. Devra Hunt used her layout to assure her son, Joshua, that he can accomplish what he sets out to do because he has what he needs within himself. Like Devra, you can let a loved one know you believe in him through a layout. For added interest, feature a sequence of photos to literally illustrate the many steps he’s already taken and to show his progress.

Post Holiday Family Fun by Shelly Jaquet. Supplies: Cardstock: American Crafts and Bazzill Basics Paper; Patterned paper: Crate Paper, Echo Park Paper Co., My Mind’s Eye, Pebbles, and Pink Paislee; Button: Crate Paper; Stickers: Advantus; Wood veneer: Maya Road; Tissue paper: Studio Calico; Punches: EK Success, Fiskars Americas, and Martha Stewart Crafts; Photo corners: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L; Stamp: Becky Higgins; Ink: Tsukineko; Fonts: Arial Black, Century Gothic, and Pacifico; Adhesive: American Crafts, Duck Brand, and EK Success; Other: Tags and thread.

Embellish Tags Make a photo grid stand out by including some embellished tags featuring products that will enhance your layout’s theme. For example, Shelly Jaquet created dimensional accents using several different sized tags embellished with a snowflake, button, and punched flowers. Design Tip Create a 3-D feel by layering your tags behind punched paper.

Christmas Tablescape by Maggie Holmes. Supplies: Patterned paper: Crate Paper, Echo Park Paper Co., and Studio Calico; Badge: Baers Garten Designs; Buttons: Jenni Bowlin Studio and October Afternoon; Flower: Jenni Bowlin Studio; Ribbon: May Arts; Spray ink: Studio Calico; Stickers: Bella Blvd, Crate Paper, and Echo Park Paper Co.; Pen: American Crafts; Adhesive: Beacon Adhesives, Therm O Web, and Tombow; Other: Stickers.

Speed up your layout creation by pulling out supplies that match the colors in your photographs, then layering photos and embellishments in a cluster across the middle of the layout. If something doesn’t quite match, just tint it with spray ink, like the alphabet stickers in the layout above.

Add a handcrafted touch to your holiday layouts using patterns or techniques borrowed from other crafts, such as the cathedral windows quilt pattern used as a border in this layout. Taking a little extra time to add special touches, such as stitching, inked paper edges, and handwritten journaling, will make your layout feel more personal and underscore the importance of your holiday memories. Sweet Tradition by Kelly Goree. Supplies: Patterned paper: Jillibean Soup and October Afternoon; Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper; Brads, chipboard, and stickers: BasicGrey; Baker’s twine, die cut, pin, and tag: Jillibean Soup; Ink: Clearsnap; Punches: Marvy Uchida and Stampin’ Up!; Pen: Zig; Other: Adhesive.

Create Pockets for Memorabilia Using Bitty Bags Bags are for holding fun and important things, so it makes sense to use them for safekeeping memorabilia. Mou Saha saved her children’s letters to Santa in bitty bags and hung them inside a wreath. Use bitty bags to store special mementos on your layouts, like a lock from baby’s first haircut or ticket stub from a famous museum.
