LETTER FROM THE EDITOR HELLO THERE FELLOW CIRLCE K’ERS To start off, I hope you all had wonderful summers and the chance to destress before we start school again. But the good news about starting school is Circle K meetings and fun service projects! I am so excited for this new service year and incredibly grateful to be serving you all as your editor for the 2016-2017 year. In late September, it will be exactly one year since I have been a part of the K-Family and it has been one of the best decisions I have made since I entered college. I’ve been doing volunteer work since High School and the greatest thing about being in an altruistic environment is all the amazing, bright, and caring people you meet along the way. Circle K has been no exception. Fun fact: this is our club’s very first newsletter, YAY! It’s amazing to watch as CCNY’s CK grows and becomes stronger due largely to its dedicated members. This is where I enter the huge thanks to the members in our club who love participating in all projects/service events and bring huge enthusiasm to the club. I cannot wait for what’s in store this year. I highly encourage all those who have not yet registered for our District Large Scale Service Project (DLSSP) yet, to do so. EVERYONE IS WELCOME. It’s honestly my favorite event of the year and it’s what hooked me into this amazing club. I hope you all enjoy the newsletter and keep your eye out for more to come.
Yours in Service, Leadership and Fellowship, Grace Rosado (347) 455-5437 grosado000@gmail.com

T H I R S T P RO J E C T This past May our club partnered with the Thirst Project organization. This organization is dedicated to bringing water to developing nations through motivating student leaders.
The Thirst Project does amazing work in countries across the world, but right now they are dedicated to bringing 100% access to fresh water to the country of Swaziland.
BY: RYAN COFFEY We are honored to say that with the gala, along with a smoothie sale, our club raised over $4,000. A huge shout out goes to Ridmila Shannon, who raised over $1,085 towards the Thirst Project.
having clean water can improve a community and its people
We hope to continue our efforts and raise at least $8,000 in order to sponsor a well that would provide an entire community with clean water. By committing to one country, they hope to show how having clean water can improve a community and its people. As part of our efforts here at City College we put together our first Gala on May 3 rd. We set out with the goal of raising at least $1,500 to help bring 60 people water for life!

AIDS WALK BY: KRISTIAN MOSQUITO
The AIDS Walk is an annual walk-a-thon that helps raise money for AIDS care and prevention. Seven of us from CCNY Circle K volunteered at AIDS Walk New York 2016. We arrived early in the morning at Central Park to help set up for the event. We spent most of our time setting up trash bags and handing out water.

The event allowed the seven of us the chance to bond together by the Central Park fountain while also contributing to a wonderful cause!

HEMOPHILIA WALK Sunday June 5th, the club got together at 7:30 am in Riverside Park to assist in handing out t-shirts and wristbands to the amazing walkers who came out to raise money for hemophilia. Although it rained profusely that didn’t stop our dedicated members from working.

ALL ISLAND KIWANIS WALK BY: RIDMILA SHANNON
The All Island Kiwanis Walk was an event filled with service and opportunity. Circle K’ers got to walk along the Midland Beach boardwalk with fellow Kiwanian’s! Kiwanis Club has funded NY District Charities and also given their full support to CCNY Circle K. While we were walking to support the Kiwanis Club, we also had the incredible opportunity to interact with our Kiwanian’s and see the love and support of all those who have kept service as one of their main priorities. It was a successful service event!

NY DCON 2015 -2016 For New York’s 54th Annual District Convention, City College had the honor of being host club! With the theme being NYCKI on Broadway, everyone got the chance to be on the Red Carpet and show off their Broadway moves at the Talent Show. NYCKI Group Photo at DCON
The weekend allowed for leadership and fellowship with various workshops like cooking classes and discussions of eboard positions. It also gave everyone all over the NY District the chance to interact, network, and have fun.

KIWANIS FAMILY NEW YEAR
Members of CK’s New York District celebrating the new service year
To celebrate the new service year, members from all over the NY District (including Key Clubbers) got together in Astoria the night of March 31st until the morning of April 1st. It was a fantastic time! There was food, music, dancing and plenty of picture taking. After a great service year, it was the perfect way to end it.
