As a former Event Planner with Clarksville Parks and Recreation, I had the opportunity to develop what I thought were fun, outdoor events for the public. I remember if I wasn’t busy putting on an event, I was busy planning one... until I recently came upon an event schedule for 2001 and was shocked to see that we had only put on fourteen events during the course of a year. Fourteen! This year’s event schedule is three and a half pages long and includes more creative programming than I can wrap my head around. A Downtown Market each Saturday from May to October, Food Truck Rallys, canoe and kayak floats, historic events at Fort Defiance, greenway BCycle tours, pool parties, Wonderkids Triathlon, outdoor concerts and the list goes on and on. As the City has grown, so has our list of offerings. Much of this has to do with our incredibly talented staff that cares about the citizens of Clarksville.
