Kim McMillan City of Clarksville Mayor
The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department has made great strides this year in our never ending commitment to excellence. On page 22, you’ll find all of the improvement projects that are coming your way as well as all the new programs and events throughout this booklet that our staff has created for you and your family. Our department renewed it’s Green Certification this year and went a step further to attain a Gold Status. We took home three awards at the Southeast Festivals and Events Association, renewed our Tree City Growth Award and perhaps our highest achievement was that we renewed our Tier III Benchmarking with the State of Tennessee Department of Environmental and Conservation. This made us one of only five cities in the State to achieve the title. According to the State, “benchmarking is a process used in management and particularly strategic management, in which organizations evaluate various aspects of their processes in relation to best practice with the goal of increasing efficiency and quality of products and services, while reducing costs.” What does this mean to you, the Clarksville resident? It means that we do our very best, everyday to make sure that Clarksville is a great city in which to live, work and play.
