story of a process: from the brief to the product ClaudiaGarrone

SecondSkinShoes is the result of a research project develop during Master Relational Design with Frog, in Munich. SecondSkinShoes is a pair of shoes that change according to the user needs and the context through a special e-textile material. Why have so many shoes when you could have one to go everywhere? Before showing the result, I want explain the process. All start with a question: What if we could design using memories as material? Here the answear.

MEMORY OF AN OBJECT MRD, Module 3 from 17 April to 10th May in Turin & Munich th

#1 LEARN Research plan, conduct research and experience map The goal was to define an object and understand how it has an associated memory.

RESEARCH what - why - how

The process is split in four main steps about learning, developing, making and refining. See more about the different phases.

Interview people about this object and find out their memories attached to the object that I choose. Extrapolate peoples’ needs and experiences and translate them into insights and ideas.

#2 DEVELOP Change the point of view: I had to think from the perspective of the object to built an ecosystem map that permit to introduce more variables that might be around the object.

Try to extract from the ecosystem map inspiration to built an initial concept of a product/service. Then, define 3 main direction of possibility project.

#3 MAKE Learn how craft and expand the concept together with other. Brainstorming and feedback help me to iterating the process and pushing concept. The way to do that are presentation and discussion..but the best way to do it is stop talking to start making.

Anyway ask ever why! And give the answer to make the project true and with a value. This method permit to prepare and clean up the process so far.

STOP TALKING START MAKING

#4 REFINE Finalized the story of my product. Make an output (prototype, video, o something else) that demonstrate how I imagine my product.
