1 – 31 DECEMBER Hunt of the Month Temperatures are dropping, snow begins to fall: it is winter. Stop by and find our 20 hidden paper mittens. 1 FRIDAY Tree ID for Beginners Identifying trees is at its most refined when the leaves have fallen from their branches. History and Hot Chocolate Hike As we wrap up our Centennial year, walk the Mill Creek Connector Trail from Cuyahoga Heights to Garfield Heights and back with Historical Interpreter Karen Lakus. Centennial Conversations: The Chalet Winter weather doesn’t stop the fun in Cleveland Metroparks! Come celebrate the golden anniversary of The Chalet with a warm beverage and a trip down memory lane. We’ll explore 50 years of fun at Ohio’s tallest and fastest toboggan chutes. 1 – 2 p.m. MSRR The Chalet Recreation Center 440-734-6660

Hemlocks and Waterfalls We’ll hike along the mountain bike trail through the forest of Bedford Reservation. We’ll go on a snow search to find “anniu,” and “api” and “quali” and more. At the end of our search, we’ll make a “quinzhee,” a snow shelter! 1 – 2:30 p.m. RRNC Terrain: some unpaved, 1 mile or less Tracks in the Snow Bring your own t-shirt or bandana to stamp with animal tracks as we learn to identify animals by the prints they leave behind. 29 FRIDAY Drop-In Discovery: Knots A properly tied knot can mean a lot. Stop by to learn some basic yet useful knots and try out some that are just plain fun. 10 a.m. – noon BNC Winter is Wonderful The cold can’t keep us inside! In this program, we will explore the joys of winter through a story, a short hike and a craft.
