History of Maple Sugaring Rocky River Reservation Weekends • March 4 – 19 • 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. The year 2017 brings yet another season of gathering sap, making syrup and leading hikes through the maple-heavy woods of the Sugarbush at Maple Grove Picnic Area in Rocky River Reservation. 1 WEDNESDAY Cleveland Metroparks 2017 Tour of Wildflowers Join hundreds of Clevelanders as we go on nature’s ultimate scavenger hunt, the Tour of Wildflowers! Stop by any of Cleveland Metroparks five nature centers or email your picture to have it verified. Once you have found most of the flowers listed, turn the checklist in to receive your very own Tour of Wildflowers t-shirt. Through June 1. MARCH PROGRAMS BY DATE History of Maple Sugaring Rocky River Reservation Weekends - March 4 – 19 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Walk through time along the Sugarbush Trail in Rocky River Reservation to see sap-collecting methods and syrup-making processes. We’ll end at the sugarhouse to watch sap boiled into delicious maple syrup. Guided hikes leave the sugarhouse every 20 minutes, the last hike leaves at 4 p.m. Groups may be accommodated on weekdays by appointment only. A Great Migration Year after year, amphibians throughout Ohio migrate from the safety of the forest to their ancestral breeding pools. Milkweed for Monarchs The word milkweed is synonymous with the monarch butterfly. During this workshop, Naturalist Natalie Schroder will help you discover the importance of this special native plant. We’ll scour the skies and water for birds that use Lake Erie as a route to nesting grounds.
