You can make a whole set of eggs in different and colours sizes, and use them in a variety of ways! Try stringing them up as a garland or using them to create a beautiful centrepiece as shown on page 6.
1. Inflate a balloon to approximately the size of an egg and tie a knot.
2. Wearing gloves, coat the entire balloon in vegetable oil. This will help to remove the balloon once complete.
3. Squeeze some PVA glue into a paper cup and add a small amount of water, then stir in until runny (but not watery).
4. Unravel the first colour of embroidery thread that you wish to use and place it in the glue mixture. Make sure to coat the thread completely in glue.
5. Wearing gloves, start to wrap the now wet thread around your balloon. Wind the end around the balloon knot first to keep secure.
6. Once you have finished wrapping the first colour, take your second chosen colour and repeat steps 4 and 5.
7. Wearing gloves, wrap the second colour around the balloon until there is no thread remaining. Hang it up to dry.
8. Once completely dry, use scissors to cut a hole in the balloon so it deflates and starts to pull away from the hardened thread.
9. Gently pull the balloon knot, then push and poke the balloon to extract it. Your beautiful string egg is ready to use!

2. Thread a needle with white embroidery thread. Sew together the cut open end of the body piece.
3. Sew the ears together inside out, turn in the right way and stuff with wadding. Sew the ears to the top of the body piece – 1 on each corner.
