COVER INTERVIEW
MARGOT ROBBIE
BARBIE REBORN
In the heart of Hollywood, a dazzling actress emerged to captivate audiences worldwide with her talent and charm. Margot Robbie, an Australian-born sensation, quickly rose to fame, solidifying her status as one of the most soughtafter actresses in the industry. Known for her versatility and magnetic on-screen presence, Robbie has now taken on an unprecedented role that epitomises her allure and versatility - that of the iconic Barbie. Here we explore the journey of Margot Robbie and the much-anticipated Barbie movie, which promises to redefine the doll’s legacy and deliver a message of empowerment to audiences of all ages.
Margot Robbie’s career began in the land down under, where she honed her acting skills before conquering Hollywood. Born on July 2, 1990, in Queensland, Australia, Robbie’s passion for acting ignited at a young age. She enrolled at the Somerset College drama department and later graduated to star in Australian independent films and television shows. Her first big job, on the Australian soap opera Neighbours, was supposed to be a guest stint, but she made such an impression that she stayed on for three years.
Robbie’s breakout role came in the form of her portrayal of Naomi Lapaglia in Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street”, where she starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio. The performance showcased her impressive talent and opened the doors to numerous opportunities in Hollywood. The film was a box-office hit and received five Academy Award nominations, awarding Robbie the Empire Award for Best Female Newcomer. Since then, she has proven her mettle in diverse roles, such as Harley Quinn in “Suicide Squad” and “Birds of Prey”, Queen Elizabeth I in “Mary Queen of Scots”, and Tonya Harding in “I, Tonya”, which earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
In 2019, news broke that Margot Robbie would not only star in the Barbie movie but also co-produce it under her production company, LuckyChap Entertainment. The film, which has been in development for years, promises to redefine the iconic doll’s legacy and break away from the conventional stereotypes associated with Barbie. Instead of focusing solely on the superficial aspects of beauty and fashion, the movie aims to explore the idea of self-identity and the importance of embracing one’s uniqueness.
Reimagining a classic character like Barbie is not without its challenges, but Robbie and the creative team were determined to find the perfect balance. Robbie acknowledges, “There’s definitely a sense of responsibility when taking on a character as iconic as Barbie. We wanted to strike the right balance between honouring her legacy and giving her a contemporary twist that feels relevant to today’s audiences.”
The decision to cast Robbie as Barbie represents a deliberate attempt to challenge the traditional notions of beauty and perfection. Margot Robbie herself is known for being unapologetically authentic and outspoken, advocating for women’s empowerment and body positivity. This casting choice aligns perfectly with the film’s overarching message of self-acceptance and inner beauty.
Embracing the character of Barbie, Robbie sees the movie as an opportunity to challenge traditional beauty standards and deliver a powerful message of individuality. In her own words, “Barbie has always represented a certain image, but we wanted to challenge that and show that beauty comes in all forms. This movie is about self-acceptance and embracing your true self, no matter how different or unique you may be.”
At its core, the Barbie movie intends to inspire young audiences and promote self-confidence, individuality, and the pursuit of dreams. Robbie envisions the movie to be inspirational for the younger generation, encouraging them to pursue their passions. She states, “I want this movie to be a source of inspiration
for young girls and boys alike. It’s about breaking free from societal expectations and embracing your passions, no matter what they may be. If we can make a positive impact on the younger generation, then we’ve done something truly special.”
The plot follows Barbie, who, despite living in the idyllic town of “Barbieland,” doesn’t quite fit in due to her unconventional interests and looks. She embarks on a journey of self-discovery, ultimately realising that her uniqueness is what makes her special.
By presenting Barbie as a relatable and multidimensional character, the film aims to resonate with a broader audience and challenge societal norms. This bold approach demonstrates a conscious effort to embrace diversity and empower the younger generation to embrace their true selves, regardless of societal expectations.
Since the movie’s most recent trailer in May, much of the excitement on social media has been around Gerwig’s ingenious eye for detail, whether it’s Barbie’s extravagant all-pink Dreamhouse or how she gracefully floats into her car (mimicking how a child might move their doll). “Greta literally said, ‘I want everyone to feel like they can reach into the screen and pick everything up: every set, every prop, every costume,’” Robbie says. Although she always figured the movie would be funny, what surprised the actress most was just how “moving” it ultimately is.
The announcement of the Barbie movie and Margot Robbie’s casting was met with both enthusiasm and scepticism. Some critics questioned the decision to bring a classic toy to life, fearing it might result in a shallow and commercialised film. The film’s departure from the traditional Barbie narrative sparked a debate about how the character should be portrayed. Striking the right balance between honouring Barbie’s legacy and breaking new ground was indeed a challenge, but the filmmakers were determined to craft a compelling and contemporary story.
For Margot Robbie, taking on the role of Barbie holds a deeply personal connection. Reflecting on this sentiment, Robbie shares, “Growing up, Barbie was always a symbol of imagination and possibility for me. To now have the opportunity to bring her to life in a way that celebrates individuality is a dream come true.”
Margot Robbie’s journey from a rising star in Australia to a Hollywood powerhouse has been nothing short of remarkable. Her upcoming portrayal of Barbie in the highly anticipated movie reflects not only her talent as an actress but also her commitment to championing positive change in the entertainment industry. By reimagining Barbie as a symbol of empowerment and individuality, the film aims to inspire a new generation to dream big, embrace their uniqueness, and challenge conventional standards of beauty.
As the Barbie movie continues to generate excitement and anticipation, audiences eagerly await the opportunity to witness Margot Robbie’s transformative performance and the film’s celebration of authenticity, self-acceptance, and empowerment. The legacy of both Margot Robbie and Barbie is poised to be forever intertwined, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of viewers worldwide.

How to get Headhunted
BY STEPHANIE JACKSON, Stephanie Jackson Recruitment
Getting headhunted can be a great way to enhance your career or even explore opportunities that you may have never considered, without spending much time job searching.
Although you could be happy in your current position, there is nothing more flattering than being approached for a new opportunity by a head hunter who is searching for that perfect candidate and believes that person could be you! Passively job seeking at all times can lead to great opportunities and keep you in the know of what is happening in your industries job market. However, if you are actively seeking a new role, here are some top tips on how to get headhunted…
Tip 1: Make sure you are visible!!
Have a strong, authentic online presence. And no, I don’t mean posting your true feelings about how much you hate your boss on LinkedIn!
What I do mean, is ensuring that your LinkedIn profile is up to date with your current role and status and actively sharing, commenting and/or liking relevant posts that could get you noticed. Actively demonstrate your contribution to your current business or industry.
For example, if you are a Store Manager whose team have consistently hit targets, then share this on your social media. If the business you work for is achieving great results as a result of your employment, then share it! It’s great to put yourself out there – not just for the likes and follows but to get noticed by the right people!
If you are actively seeking a new role then ensure you make this known by adding the right people to your network. Research recruitment agencies that specialise in your field as well as key hiring managers for any businesses you would like to work for. You will be shocked at how quickly a conversation will be sparked.
Tip 2: Networking
Your Network is your Net worth – one of my favourite sayings! This saying is often used in conjunction with “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know” and yes, this is true to a certain extent. However, when it comes to getting noticed by a potential new employer or recruiter then it’s an equal mixture of both. As with your social media presence, putting yourself out there is extremely important physically too, so if there is an industry event coming up – make sure you’re there!
Tip 3. Be ready!
One thing that I find really frustrating as a recruiter is when I come across an amazing candidate and they are interested in the role BUT they do not have their up-to-date CV ready.
This has often led to roles being filled in the time that it’s taken for what could have been the right candidate to send across their CV.
If you are hoping to be headhunted or even passively looking for your next move, don’t run the risk of being left behind because your CV isnt ready.

COME ON BARBIE, LET’S GO PARTY
When Margot Robbie signed on to bring Barbie to life, she meant it in every sense. The actress, who plays the iconic blonde doll in Greta Gerwig's Barbie, has been sporting almost exact, life-size recreations of some of Barbie's most fabulous looks across the decades for the press tour and "pink carpet" premieres. Stylist Andrew Mukamal and Robbie had an endless array of looks to choose from with Barbie having spent more than 60 years in the spotlight.
THE ORIGINAL BARBIE 1959
Back on her home turf in Australia, Robbie went with an homage to the OG swimsuit the first-ever Barbie doll wore in 1959. She said surfs up in a black and white striped Herve Leger bandage dress and white cateye sunglasses on June 29 at a fan event in Sydney.
SOLO IN THE SPOTLIGHT BARBIE 1960
Robbie stepped out in this classic and elegant dress designed by Schiaparelli for the Barbie premiere in L.A. on July 9. The doll is in the details with the star carrying Barbie's pink chiffon scarf while emulating Barbie showing off her dainty rosette and classic black mules.
ENCHANTED EVENING BARBIE 1960
At the London premiere on July 12, Robbie debuted this glamorous Vivienne Westwood ensemble. She looked truly enchanting in the pink satin gown, detachable tulle shawl, and layered pearl necklace.

DAY TO NIGHT BARBIE 1985
Robbie showed how she can effortlessly transition from boss Barbie to showtime Barbie. Taking inspiration from the 1985 doll who came with two outfits in the box, the day look was a Versace replica of Barbie's pink skirt suit. Robbie added her own personal touch with a pink bedazzled phone.
TOTALLY HAIR BARBIE 1992
For the second event in Mexico City, Robbie wore an eye-catching Pucci dress with matching nails and totally crimped hair. Even though Barbie's 'do is technically floor length, Robbie's long locks matched the vibe perfectly.
PINK & FABULOUS BARBIE 2015
Robbie put her own spin on this look, the only one inspired by a more recent doll. At a photo call in L.A. on June 25 she wore a pink and white polka-dot mini dress from Valentino along with a yellow bag to match her Barbie counterpart.

MY TOP TIPS TO TURN BACK TIME
ANTI-AGEING DENTISTRY WITH DR RICHARD MARQUES
Dr Richard Marques is on hand to provide the secrets of this anti-ageing aesthetic and how cosmetic dentistry can help reverse the effects of ageing.
As we grow older, the lips and skin around the mouth thins and gradually deteriorates, leaving the teeth and gums unsupported. This alongside receding gums and inward lips can lead to the appearance of an aged, drooped face. The impact of poor oral health care over the years also begins to become obvious with tooth yellowing and hollowing. Without invasive facial surgery, a number of cosmetic dental procedures can give the appearance of a face lift - improving the shape of your face and jaw while creating a lasting white smile.
Some of the possible procedures include:
TEETH WHITENING
The easiest way to turn back the clock using your teeth is to whiten them. Over time, the enamel on your teeth becomes naturally discoloured which can give away age when teeth begin to develop yellow, dark or light spots. Therefore, a whiter, brighter smile can have a big impact on the youthfulness of your appearance and thus self confidence. Teeth whitening be carrying out in a dental clinic and Diamond Whites products are a great alternative for at home whitening options https://diamondwhites.co.uk/
ENSURING FILLINGS ARE MONITORED AND CHANGED ACCORDINGLY
The condition of standard fillings can worsen over time and it is not uncommon at all for them to be replaced if they deteriorate. As fillings are put in place to aid and support the structure of the natural tooth, if they are not regularly checked by your dentist, they can crack or fall out leaving the tooth unsupported and prone to decay and thus tooth loss. We can also change fillings to match a whiter smile. So making sure that your fillings are monitored is essential for a youthful look. Of course, metal fillings contain mercury, so these should ideally be replaced in a safe and careful manner.
TEETH STRAIGHTENING AND VENEERS
Crowded or misaligned teeth can give an appearance of an older age that what may be true. Straightening teeth either using traditional braces or Invisalign can combat facial ageing by lifting the mouth and reducing the appearance of sagging skin. The beauty of veneers is they give you the ability to design your own smile and transform the shape of your face. Therefore, straightening crocked teeth or having veneers fitted can have a direct impact on the age of your face.
GUM GRAFTING
This is a procedure for people with thinning or reseeding gums - commonly undertaken on patients who suffer with a severe form gingivitis (form of gum disease). Gum grafting works to place the gum back in its natural position by covering exposed roots - improving health of teeth but also inspiring a more youthful look. There is also buccal composite coverings to cover the root and prevent tooth sensitivity and improve appearance.
JAW ALIGNMENT AND RESTORATION
Perhaps the biggest procedure that can provide and anti-ageing result is teeth restoration and bite correction. Typically, in patients with an overbite, the lower jaw is pushed back and consequently gives the appearance of a small lower mouth and chin - ageing the individual. Bringing the jaw and teeth back into alignment, lifts the jawbone resulting in an instant youthful appearance. From teeth grinding the bite (OVD-occlusal vertical dimension) can decrease resulting in a deeper bite. Restoring the bite can also improve facial proportion.

GOT A LOTTA FRENEMIES!
A tale as old as time. I’m sure cavewomen used to befriend their fellow camp wives and hate on the size of their mud shacks. I’m pretty sure cavemen used to compare the size of their killing instruments too (pun and no pun intended). It’s as common as the change of seasons. The Frenemy. We’ve all had them, and hopefully we’ve all been exulting in our escape from a frenemy chokehold.
It’s disappointing when you realise that someone you considered a friend and let into your inner circle doesn’t genuinely have your best interests at heart and is on the sidelines panting like a dog waiting for or, even worse, planning your demise.
My friendships have seen my lovers come and go, some have seen me through 80 seasons and we have laughed, cried, cried laughing and inspired one another. My girl gang has shaped me into the person I am today.
I’ve dug the hole; they’ve buried the body and we’ve both kept the secret. And I can honestly say that even with a cross word said, no one would ever find the body because neither of us would ever tell. But this month, the discussion of Frenemies has frequented the group chat.
The breakdown of a friendship can leave you in more turmoil than the breakdown of a romantic relationship. But sometimes we don’t recognise abuse in our friendships because they don’t come in the conventional forms. But toxic is as toxic does. So, in Big Mouth fashion, I’m going to use my “Little Lips” to present to you… signs of a toxic friendship!
1. The guilt trip.
One of my friends was unable to attend a birthday this month as they had a family emergency. That incident was resolved in a couple of days and my friend was able to make it out to another party on the weekend. To my surprise, I was in the car when they received texts from their friend berating them for missing the birthday but attending the other party with “other people”, I’d been diminished to the role of “other people” by this person which left me perplexed. I’d known my friend since we were young. Their mood changed. Luckily, they didn’t feel bad, because this wasn’t the first time this had happened, in fact, it’s been a regular moot point for a couple of years now but the clear manipulation of trying to make them feel guilty for enjoying themselves with other friends didn’t go
“THE BREAKDOWN OF A friendship CAN LEAVE YOU IN more turmoil THAN THE BREAKDOWN OF A romantic relationship.”
28 • CLOSEUP
I GOT FRENE MIES,
unnoticed by all of us. When you feel bad to tell people that you have other plans, you should really consider if it’s a true friendship or not. No authentic friend of yours will make you feel bad for having other friends, being booked and busy or having to deal with other challenges in your life which may take your time away from them.
2. You can’t trust them.
Would you ever consider someone your friend if you didn’t feel comfortable leaving them alone with your partner or someone you’re getting to know? I learned this the hard way. I had some inklings of poor behaviour when we were all together... inappropriate questions were asked about sex, inappropriate touching and sitting in very close proximity to said man. By suggestion of another friend, I asked the man of the month if she’d been messaging and he answered yes. The messages were, in nature, not flirty (apart from the love heart emojis and flame responses to his story), but what business do you have messaging a man your friend is getting to know? When you already have a man of your own! This has nothing to do with him and everything to do with respect in our friendship. I’ve cut her off. Not in a big show and dance of anger or gruelling questioning, but her access to me has become less and less. I chose to quietly leave a situation which no longer served me and made me feel disrespected.
3. They’re haters.
There’s probably a more virtuous way of saying this but a hater is a hater so let’s just call a spade a spade.
Going back to my guilted friend, not only did she guilt trip them, she also mocked them on their new venture. It was a laughable attempt but thought went into writing it. It shows a hidden resentfulness of my friends attempt to better their life. It’s crazy to think that the people you confide in and want to share your wins with could potentially have a hidden jealousy or bitterness towards you. The “fake friend” is everywhere, the ones that don’t celebrate you, and in some ways, are wishing and waiting for your failure.
Haters come in all forms, I had one friend tell me she hates going away with me because I get more attention than she does. At the time I was in the middle of my fertility treatment and didn’t feel my best and she still felt the need to say that I get more attention than her… even when I’m bloated; her words not mine.
Cheers for that pal, what an excellent support system. I’m sorry I’m getting more unwelcomed attention than you are. Let me just go live under a rock so you can continue to be the centre of attention. No problem, anything for you.
What I have found with friends like these, is they generally have very low self-esteem. They are scared to be left behind, they gather their confidence through the validation of men and external influences, they’re not happy with where they are on their journey and want everyone around them to not be happy
either. These aren’t friends, they’re leeches. Exterminate as quickly as you can!
4. Boundaries do not exist.
They’re able to set boundaries, but you’re not. You’re expected to be available for them at a whim, stop mid poo to scramble, leave your nans funeral because they need you and you dare not pick their phone call up or ignore their texts during work hour, you’ll be branded the worst friend ever. This is pretty common in people with co-dependency issues. They’re unable to function on their own so the expectation is that you live to serve them in whichever capacity they require. Co-dependant or not, it’s still toxic.
5. You only suit a certain purpose.
What I’ve learned as I’ve got older is that not every friend is meant to fulfil your every need. But there are certain friends who will use you to get what they want and then forget you even exist.
I had a friend who I would go out with every weekend when we were single. Whenever we went out, it was clear she was on the prowl for a new man. She didn’t necessarily enjoy my company, she just needed someone who would go out with her. Then, she’d get a boyfriend and I wouldn’t hear from her until the relationship ended and she’d be back. After the third time, I stopped seeing her. I became closer to my other friends but the invites would never be extended to her. Whenever I began seeing someone, she would say anything she could to deter me from getting to know them because she didn’t want someone else taking the attention from her. Don’t jeopardize your own happiness by surrounding yourself with people who genuinely don’t want the best for you because it’s not the best for them.
6. They leave you drained.
And this will be my final point. Have you ever spent time with someone that by the time you leave them, you feel like your soul has left your body and you just want to get into bed and go to sleep? You have no energy to entertain a conversation with anyone else? This is one of the worst. I’ve often felt like this after meeting with one particular person. The overwhelming feeling of anxiety and deflation in one go. Your body has a funny way of telling you when something or someone isn’t good for you. If you constantly feel anxious leading up to an encounter with your ‘friend’ or totally ruined after one, they’re not for you.
Navigating the mine field of friendships can be so overwhelming and heartbreaking once you see people for who they are.
Protect yourself and your energy at all costs. Good luck out there.
“THERE ARE certain friends WHO WILL USE YOU TO GET WHAT they want AND THEN forget you even exist.”

EMBRACING MINIMALISM
The Art of Decluttering and Organising
In a world filled with constant distractions and a neverending stream of possessions, the minimalist movement has emerged as a breath of fresh air for those seeking peace and simplicity within their living spaces. Minimalism in interior design isn’t just about sleek lines and empty spaces; it’s a mindful approach that fosters a calm and inviting atmosphere. Join us as we delve into the principles of minimalism and uncover valuable tips on decluttering and organising your spaces to embrace the beauty of simplicity.
Less is More:
At the heart of minimalism lies the belief that “less is more.” Start by evaluating each room and identifying items that no longer serve a purpose or bring you joy. Embrace the liberating act of letting go and donate or recycle items that clutter your space and mind.
Purposeful Furniture:
When it comes to selecting furniture, prioritise pieces with clean lines and functional designs. Multi-functional furniture like storage ottomans or beds with built-in drawers can help you maximise space and eliminate unnecessary clutter.
Organise with Intention:
Take time to organise your belongings with intention. Invest in quality storage solutions such as modular shelves, baskets, and bins that keep everything in its rightful place. Keeping surfaces clear of unnecessary items can bring a sense of tranquillity to any room.
Embrace Neutral Tones:
Neutral colour palettes are a hallmark of minimalist design. Opt for calming hues like whites, beiges, and greys to create a soothing and harmonious ambiance. You can always add subtle pops of colour through accent pieces to infuse personality.
Let Nature In:
Incorporate elements of nature into your minimalist space. Houseplants, natural materials like wood and stone, and ample natural light contribute to a fresh and inviting atmosphere.
Quality over Quantity:
Invest in high-quality, timeless pieces that will stand the test of time. Quality items not only add a touch of elegance to your home but also reduce the need for frequent replacements, contributing to a more sustainable lifestyle.
Mindful Consumption:
Lastly, embrace a mindful approach to consumption. Before making a purchase, consider its necessity and long-term value. Avoid impulse buying and focus on acquiring items that truly resonate with your lifestyle and aesthetic. let nature in

Strawberry & white chocolate CROFFLES
A brilliant way to cook raw croissant dough without the oven. You may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your waffle iron – a single croffle is the perfect size for a mini waffle maker.
Makes 6
Prep 10 mins
Cook 7 mins
Ingredients
350g pack Jus-Rol Croissants • 60g white chocolate, chopped • 200g No.1 Natural Strained Greek Yogurt
• 12 large strawberries, hulled and sliced
Method
Preheat an electric or stove-top waffle iron. Open out the dough and cut along the perforations to separate the 6 triangular pieces. Scatter the chocolate along the bottom (shorter straight side) of the dough, then roll up from that edge to the opposite tip to form a straight croissant. Coil it round to form a bun, then pat lightly to flatten into an even disc. Repeat to make 6 discs.
Place the croissant(s) in the waffle maker, press down firmly and cook for 5-7 minutes, until crisp and golden. Repeat in batches until all the croissants are cooked through. Top with the yogurt and sliced strawberries, then serve.

This layered take on ice tea could just be your new favourite hot weather refresher.
Serves 4 Prep 45 mins Cook 10 mins
Ingredients
3 leaves Dr Oetker Platinum Leaf Gelatine • 300g strawberries, hulled and roughly chopped • 100g caster sugar • 400g milk, or dairy-free alternative such as oat or almond drink • 3 No.1 Jasmine Rose Green Tea Bags • Ice cubes, to serve
Cook’s tip
This is wonderful made with Jasmine Rose Green Tea, but any light tea, such as Earl Grey and Darjeeling, can be used. Instead of discarding the fruit pulp, you could try blitzing it with frozen chunks of banana to make instant ice cream, or fold into a muffin batter.
Method
Place the gelatine in a small bowl of cold water and set aside to soften. Meanwhile, place the strawberries in a saucepan with 75g of the sugar and 150ml water. Bring to a simmer and cook gently for 10 minutes, until soft and pulpy.
Drain the mixture through a fine sieve into a jug. Tip the pulp and 2 tbsp of the strawberry syrup into a separate jug or bowl and set aside to cool.
Check the volume of the remaining strawberry syrup and add enough hot water to make it up to 300ml. Lift the gelatine from the water, squeeze out the excess water, then add to the warm syrup, stirring until dissolved. Line a 20cm-square cake tin or small baking tin with clingfilm, pour in the jelly and leave to cool. Cover and chill for at least 4 hours until firmly set.
Meanwhile, stir the milk into the reserved pulp and syrup and chill. Make the tea with the teabags and 800ml boiling water. Brew for 2-3 minutes, then sweeten to taste with the remaining 15-25g sugar. Cool, then cover and chill.
Recipes and images courtesy of Waitrose. Thousands of recipes can be found at www.waitrose.com
When ready to serve, strain the milk to remove the pulp. Turn out the jelly and cut into small dice. Divide the jelly between 4 large, tall glasses and pour over the tea. Add a large handful of ice cubes to the glasses, then top up with milk. Serve with wide paper straws for sucking up the jelly, or long spoons.

BRIOCHE ROLLS
These special ice-cream sandwiches will have everyone reaching for their camera phone – and asking for the recipe.
Serves 4
Prep 15 mins
Ingredients
½ x 280g pack 8 brioche rolls • ½ x 500ml tub Alphonso mango sorbet • ½ tsp Cooks’
Ingredients Tajin Style Seasoning • 75g Cooks’
Ingredients Belgian White Chocolate, roughly chopped • 1 tsp coconut oil or butter
Method
Cook’s tip
White chocolate does vary in texture when melted, if your mixture seems a little thick, add a touch more oil or butter.
Cut the brioche buns in ½ horizontally and arrange small scoops of sorbet on the base. Sprinkle with a pinch of Tajin seasoning then replace the lids, pressing down firmly. Cover and transfer to the freezer.
Meanwhile, place the white chocolate and coconut oil or butter in a wide heatproof bowl set over a pan of just-simmering water, stirring until melted. Carefully dip the top of the frozen buns into the melted chocolate and sprinkle with a little more seasoning. Enjoy straightaway or return to the freezer until ready to serve.

Brunching Made Beautfiul
In the heart of Temple Fortune, you will find Nayla Café.
As we walked into a pink paradise, we were welcomed by the friendly staff and were in awe of the interior which included a blooming floral wall, ideal for those picture-perfect moments, hanging lightbulbs, setting the perfect ambience, and a quirky neon sign. During our visit, the staff made sure that our experience was special, and the inviting dishes we indulged in only added to the pleasure of our experience at Nayla Café.
We opted for a classic oat milk vanilla latte, and it was more than just any latte. Not only was the hot drink creamy goodness itself, but with the cafe’s new technology, we were introduced to a device that allowed us to personalise the froth with an image of our choice and the barista expertly crafted it onto the top of the latte!
To begin our culinary adventure, we chose the All-Day Halal Full English Breakfast that showcased the cafes commitment to incredible quality and flavour. Providing all staple breakfast items, the breakfast included two juicy beef sausages, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour, two fried eggs with
a meticulously cooked yolk that oozes when you cut into it adding a delicious richness to any meal, a generous portion of mushrooms full of earthy flavour, two crispy hash browns, a slice of succulent turkey bacon, and finally a serving of beans and cherry tomatoes, that added a pop of colour and flavour to our plate. We paired our meal with a slice of warm and crusty sourdough bread to soak up all the delicious juices and flavours.
Following on from the hearty breakfast was the Shakshuka, recommended to us by the restaurant owner, it arrived in a Middle Eastern style dish and was sizzling with flavourous aromas before we even had the opportunity to indulge in it! Made by cooking eggs in a spicy tomato sauce, the sauce was flavoured with a blend of aromatic spices, which gave it a rich flavour. The eggs were gently poached in the sauce and it was served with hot crusty bread perfect for dipping.
We concluded our meal with the Pistachio Pancakes and the Nutella Waffle Stack. These sweet treats were a decadent end to satisfy our sweet tooth! The waffles were warm and fluffy, layered with the perfect amount of rich and creamy Nutella, then topped with juicy, ripe strawberries that created a symphony of flavour and texture, with a burst of freshness and sweetness to every bite. The combination of both flavours was a match made in heaven. The incredible Pistachio pancakes were my absolute favourite! Studded with chopped pistachios and cascading pistachio cream, it arrived displayed to perfection. The pancake batter was fluffy and golden, and the spread was curated to perfection amongst the rich, nutty flavour.
Our experience at Nayla Café was nothing short of exceptional, we even took some goodie bags away with us! From first impressions of the cafes cosy and pretty interior, to the extraordinary dishes with a Middle Eastern flare, Nayla Café was a truly unforgettable brunch experience.

FINAL FAREWELL
I started writing articles for Close Up magazine in March 2020 to support families with learning at home during lockdown. I enjoyed the whole experience and here we are three years later! I really hope my articles have reached everyone well and have helped inform, advise and support you. I am sharing my last article with you all and hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy writing it.
Teaching Abroad
As my career is taking me across the seas, I thought it would be fitting to delve into why educators choose to venture abroad. For me personally, I am looking forward to seeking new experiences, immerse into a new culture, grow my career, and the chance to make a global impact.
More so now, an increasing number of educators have been choosing to embark on a life-changing journey by teaching abroad. While the UK offers a rich teaching landscape and a strong curriculum, some teachers find themselves drawn to the allure of international education opportunities.
For many teachers, international teaching offers exciting opportunities for professional development and career advancement. Teaching in a foreign country provides exposure to different educational systems, methodologies, and approaches, enriching their teaching toolkit. They can learn new techniques, curricula, and technologies, which can be invaluable when they return to the UK education system. Additionally, international experience is often regarded highly by employers and can open doors to leadership roles or specialised teaching positions back home.
Teaching abroad provides teachers with an adventurous lifestyle and a chance to travel extensively during school holidays. From teaching English in Asia to instructing at an international school in the Middle East, the possibilities are endless. These experiences not only enrich their lives personally but also inspire a global perspective they can share with their students.
Working in a school abroad often exposes educators to a diverse range of learners, including those from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. This exposure challenges teachers to adapt their teaching techniques to meet the needs of a varied student
demographic. As a result, teachers gain valuable skills in differentiated instruction, cultural responsiveness, and inclusive teaching, which can prove invaluable in their future teaching endeavours.
Many international schools offer attractive compensation packages, including competitive salaries, housing allowances, health insurance, and sometimes even flight allowances. For some teachers, this combination of financial incentives and the opportunity for adventure creates a compelling case to move abroad. While the cost of living in different countries can vary, many find that their disposable income allows them to save more money or enjoy a higher standard of living compared to the UK.
Teaching abroad allows educators to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students around the world. By sharing their knowledge, skills, and expertise, teachers help bridge educational gaps and promote cross-cultural understanding. Many teachers find immense satisfaction in witnessing their students’ growth and success, knowing they have played a part in shaping the future of global citizens.
For me, the decision to teach abroad from the UK is not one I made lightly, however, the rewards of cultural immersion, personal growth, and professional development make the journey more than worthwhile.
I hope to return with a comprehensive understanding of teaching and be able to bring back invaluable teaching and leading methods which will impact every child positively.
Farewell for now!
Do not let fear stand in the way of your dreams!

"THE mere mention OF OUR STAY AT THE FOUR SEASONS HOTEL
The sweet and sour chicken was a delightful symphony of flavours. Tender pieces of succulent chicken were coated in a perfectly balanced sauce, combining the right amount of sweetness with a tangy kick. Served with fresh vegetables, this classic Chinese dish left a memorable impression.
The aromatic duck pancakes proved to be a highlight of the meal. As we eagerly anticipated this classic Chinese delicacy, we were treated to a masterful presentation that showcased the restaurant's attention to detail. The talented staff took great care in crafting each pancake, transforming the dish into a work of art. With precision, they assembled the pancake piece by piece, ensuring every element was perfectly placed. First, a soft and delicate pancake was laid gently on the plate, setting the foundation for the exquisite creation.
Next came the generous drizzle of the savoury Hoisin sauce, tantalising our senses with its rich and enticing aroma. The succulent duck meat was then added, slow-cooked to perfection and so tender that it melted in our mouths. But it didn't stop there – delicately placed on top was the crispy duck skin, adding a delightful crunch to the ensemble. The attention to detail reached new heights as the staff, with utmost care, used a tweezer to artfully position the cucumber and spring onions on top. The result was a visually stunning pancake that looked almost too beautiful to eat!
As we took our first bite, the harmonious combination of flavours unfolded on our taste buds. The tender duck meat, complemented by the crispiness of the skin and the freshness of the cucumber and spring onions, danced on our palates, creating an unforgettable sensory experience.
Moving on to fish, the curried prawns were an enticing fusion of Eastern flavours. The succulent prawns were enveloped in a velvety curry sauce infused with aromatic spices, creating a dish that was rich and deeply satisfying.
For those who enjoy a bit of heat, the chilli beef was a definite winner. Tender strips of beef were stir-fried with a tangy sauce and fiery chilli, resulting in a delectable combination of spicy and savoury notes.
Beyond Seasons Oriental, the Four Seasons Hotel offered an array of other dining experiences. One of their newest restaurants, Sera by Ettore Botrini, is in conjunction with the renowned Greek/Italian ‘Michelin Starred’ Chef, Ettore Botrini, owner of the renowned Botrini’s in Athens.
Following on from dinner, we sought an evening of artfully crafted cocktails and stunning views, and Vista Bar did not disappoint. Vista Bar, boasts an intimate yet lively ambience with live entertainment in the evenings, with a diverse menu of cocktails, shisha and food. The chic and sophisticated Vista Terrace is Limassol’s Summer hot spot with a live DJ 5 nights a week.
Our enchanting 7-night stay at the Four Seasons Hotel in Limassol, Cyprus, left us with unforgettable memories of luxury, hospitality, and gastronomic delights.
