Great service! Competitively priced, good comms and a stress free, professional service from the team who collected the waste. Would definitely recommend and use again!

We use a lot of rubbish collectors across Sussex, Surrey and Kent, and Litta stand out as being very professionalno rusty old Transits and string vests here. They arrived on time and kept me informed at all stages.

Great experience with these. Simple and easy process from booking a slot to them coming to remove the waste. I would definitely recommend

We aim to fulfil customer requirements by leveraging excess market capacity, which results in fewer vehicles on the road resulting in lower CO2 emissions and less pollution. By partnering with our trusted network, we are able to reduce fly tipping and increase recycling, working towards and supporting the circular economy.

I have used LITTA four times now! Today I booked a collection this morning and a few hours later all my rubbish had been collected! So efficient. Definitely recommend.

A great service especially for heavy furniture that you can’t lift yourself. Unlike the service local councils offer, LITTA pick it up from your room/ garden. Knowing that your unwanted furniture is being disposed of responsibly was important to us. Definately a service I would use again if needed.

Found them online, called and great experience from answering my questions to the friendly collection team. All done and dusted in less than 24 hours!

ED SHEERAN

From Sidewalk to Stardom

“AS LONG AS PEOPLE CONNECT WITH THE SONGS, I’LL KEEP MAKING THEM. That’s all that matters to me.”

Ed Sheeran is one of the most successful singersongwriters of the 21st century, with a career that has been defined by raw talent, deeply personal lyrics, and a humble persona that has endeared him to millions of fans across the globe. From busking on the streets of London to headlining some of the world’s largest stadiums, Sheeran’s journey to stardom is a story of perseverance and passion. With just a guitar, a loop pedal, and his soulful voice, he has created songs that not only dominate the charts but have become the soundtrack to countless life moments, from love and heartbreak to the small, everyday experiences.

Ed grew up in Framlingham, Suffolk. Raised in a close-knit family, music was always a presence in his life. His father, John, was an art curator, while his mother, Imogen, designed jewellery and dabbled in cultural projects. Growing up in a household immersed in the arts had a profound effect on young Ed. “I think that’s why I am the way I am,” he has said, “because I’ve always been around music, art, and culture.”

Sheeran’s musical journey began early. He started playing the guitar at a young age, inspired by artists like Bob Dylan and Van Morrison. His passion for songwriting soon followed. As a teenager, Ed left school and moved to London in 2008 to pursue his dreams. He would play at open mic nights, often to small audiences, and would sometimes find himself sleeping on friends’ sofas or even on the London Underground. In one candid interview, Sheeran reflected, “There was a point when I didn’t have a place to stay, and I slept on the Central Line [a London Tube line]. You really start to question if it’s worth it. But I was so in love with what I was doing, I didn’t care.”

Despite the hardships, Ed’s talent and dedication eventually began to pay off. He independently released several EPs, built a loyal following through YouTube, and became a wellknown figure on the London music scene. In 2010, Sheeran’s persistence led him to an unexpected opportunity when he

caught the attention of actor and musician Jamie Foxx. Foxx invited him to stay at his home in Los Angeles for a while, helping Ed to gain valuable exposure. “He let me crash at his place and use his recording studio. It was incredible—one of those moments you never forget,” Sheeran recalled in 2015. Sheeran’s breakthrough came in 2011 with the release of his debut studio album, + (“Plus”), featuring singles like “The A Team,” “Lego House,” and “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You.” + was a commercial success and showcased Ed’s distinctive blend of acoustic folk, pop, and soul. The album’s lead single, “The A Team,” told the story of a young woman struggling with drug addiction. The song was widely praised and earned Sheeran a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year. Reflecting on its origins, Sheeran said, “I wrote it after meeting a girl in a homeless shelter... That song changed my life, and it’s about someone else’s life that wasn’t so fortunate.”

+ became a multi-platinum hit, solidifying Sheeran’s place as one of the UK’s most promising young artists. His ability to write lyrics that were both personal and universal struck a chord with audiences, and his humble, down-to-earth persona only added to his appeal. “People connect with honesty, and that’s all I try to do with my music,” Sheeran has said. “I just tell my stories.”

Sheeran’s second album, x (“Multiply”), released in 2014, took his career to even greater heights. This time, Sheeran experimented more with his sound, blending genres like pop, folk, R&B, and even hip-hop. Working with producers like Pharrell Williams and Rick Rubin, the album showcased a more diverse sound, with hits like “Sing,” which was driven by a funky, upbeat groove, and the romantic ballad “Thinking Out Loud.”

“Thinking Out Loud” became one of Sheeran’s defining songs, earning him two Grammy Awards for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance. Its heartfelt lyrics and

slow, soulful melody made it a favourite at weddings and an anthem for love in the 2010s. Sheeran reflected on its success, saying, “I wrote it thinking it would just be another album track, and now I can’t do a show without playing it. It’s mad how songs take on a life of their own.”

The success of x was staggering, with the album topping charts worldwide and Ed embarking on his first stadium tour, playing to enormous crowds. The shift from playing pubs and open mics to selling out stadiums wasn’t lost on Sheeran. “It’s surreal,” he once said. “I used to busk on the streets for a handful of people, and now there are tens of thousands singing my lyrics back to me. It’s humbling, and it’s crazy.”

The pressure of constant touring and newfound fame began to take its toll on Sheeran. After the relentless schedule that followed the release of x, he decided to take a year-long break from music in 2016 to focus on his personal life and his own wellbeing. During this time, he travelled the world, reconnected with friends and family, and got engaged to his long-time girlfriend, Cherry Seaborn. “I needed to step away and live life for a bit,” Sheeran explained.

“I realised that I was missing out on the normal things, like spending time with family and friends.”

Stepping back allowed Sheeran to regain perspective, both on life and on his music. He has spoken candidly about the pressures that come with fame and how taking time off gave him the space to reflect. “When you’re in the public eye for so long, it’s easy to lose yourself,” he admitted. “But taking that time off made me realise what really matters in life.”

record. “It’s a crazy thing to think about,” Sheeran said about the tour’s success. “I never imagined I’d get to that level.”

In 2019, Sheeran released No. 6 Collaborations Project, a star-studded album that featured collaborations with artists like Justin Bieber, Cardi B, Eminem, and Travis Scott. The album allowed Sheeran to experiment with different styles and step outside his usual acoustic-driven sound. Tracks like “I Don’t Care” with Justin Bieber and “Beautiful People” with Khalid showcased Sheeran’s versatility and ability to adapt to different genres.

“I wanted to make an album where I could work with people I admire and respect, but it wasn’t about fitting into a specific genre,” Sheeran explained. “It was about having fun and making music that felt good.” The album was another commercial success, proving that Sheeran’s willingness to take creative risks continued to pay off.

“I USED TO BUSK ON THE STREETS FOR A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE, AND NOW there are tens of thousands singing my lyrics back to me. IT’S HUMBLING, AND IT’S CRAZY.”

In 2017, Sheeran returned with his third studio album, ÷ (“Divide”), and once again, he took the music world by storm. The album’s lead singles, “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill,” debuted at No. 1 and No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart, making Sheeran the first artist ever to achieve this feat.

“Shape of You” became an international hit, blending tropical house with his signature acoustic style. It spent 12 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went on to become one of the best-selling digital singles of all time.

Reflecting on “Shape of You,” Sheeran admitted that he initially didn’t even want it on the album. “It felt too pop for me, but I’m glad I kept it because people just loved it,” he said. “It’s one of those things where you trust your gut, but sometimes the audience knows best.”

÷ continued Sheeran’s streak of global success, breaking streaming records and topping the charts in dozens of countries. The album earned Sheeran two more Grammy Awards, while his “Divide” world tour went on to become the highest-grossing tour of all time, surpassing U2’s previous

In September 2020, Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn welcomed their first child, a daughter named Lyra Antarctica.

Becoming a father has had a profound impact on Sheeran, both personally and creatively.

“Fatherhood changes everything,” he said. “It gives you a new perspective on life and what’s important. I’m writing differently now because I’m not just thinking about myself—I’m thinking about my family and what kind of world I want my daughter to grow up in.”

In late 2021, Sheeran released his fourth studio album, = (“Equals”), which explored themes of love, family, and personal growth. The album included hits like “Bad Habits” and “Shivers,” and further solidified Sheeran’s ability to connect with his audience through deeply personal yet universally relatable music.

Ed Sheeran’s impact on modern music is undeniable. He has become a symbol of authenticity in an industry often driven by commercial interests and manufactured personas. His rise from busking on the streets of London to becoming one of the world’s biggest artists is a testament to his passion for songwriting and his relentless dedication. Throughout his career, Sheeran has remained grounded, often crediting his fans for his success. “I wouldn’t be where I am without the people who support me,” he once said. “Every show I play, every song I write, it’s all for them.”

As he looks ahead, Sheeran’s legacy continues to grow. Whether he’s writing heartfelt ballads or exploring new genres, his music remains deeply personal and widely relatable. In his own words, “As long as people connect with the songs, I’ll keep making them. That’s all that matters to me.”

How to get Headhunted

Getting headhunted can be a great way to enhance your career or even explore opportunities that you may have never considered, without spending much time job searching.

Although you could be happy in your current position, there is nothing more flattering than being approached for a new opportunity by a head hunter who is searching for that perfect candidate and believes that person could be you!

Passively job seeking at all times can lead to great opportunities and keep you in the know of what is happening in your industries job market. However, if you are actively seeking a new role, here are some top tips on how to get headhunted…

Tip 1: Make sure you are visible!!

Have a strong, authentic online presence. And no, I don’t mean posting your true feelings about how much you hate your boss on LinkedIn!

What I do mean, is ensuring that your LinkedIn profile is up to date with your current role and status and actively sharing, commenting and/or liking relevant posts that could get you noticed. Actively demonstrate your contribution to your current business or industry.

For example, if you are a Store Manager whose team have consistently hit targets, then share this on your social media. If the business you work for is achieving great results as a result of your employment, then share it! It’s great to put yourself out there – not just for the likes and follows but to get noticed by the right people!

If you are actively seeking a new role then ensure you make this known by adding the right people to your network. Research recruitment agencies that specialise in your field as well as key hiring managers for any businesses you would like to work for. You will be shocked at how quickly a conversation will be sparked.

Tip 2: Networking

Your Network is your Net worth – one of my favourite sayings!

This saying is often used in conjunction with “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know” and yes, this is true to a certain extent. However, when it comes to getting noticed by a potential new employer or recruiter then it’s an equal mixture of both. As with your social media presence, putting yourself out there is extremely important physically too, so if there is an industry event coming up – make sure you’re there!

Tip 3. Be ready!

One thing that I find really frustrating as a recruiter is when I come across an amazing candidate and they are interested in the role BUT they do not have their up-to-date CV ready.

This has often led to roles being filled in the time that it’s taken for what could have been the right candidate to send across their CV.

If you are hoping to be headhunted or even passively looking for your next move, don’t run the risk of being left behind because your CV isnt ready.

Harriet Blackmore in the HOT SEAT

We had the chance to catch up with one of Love Island 2024’s fan favourites, Harriet Blackmore, to talk about her experience in the villa and how life has been since leaving the show.

Looking back at your time in the villa, what was the most memorable part of the experience that you didn’t expect?

Looking back at my time in the villa I shared lots of memorable experiences, however the one thing I didn’t expect to make is the bestest friends that I will treasure forever. I feel so lucky to have met everyone who was part of the series!

Navigating romance in such a high-pressure environment must have been tricky. How did you manage the emotional highs and lows while on camera?

During my time I had lots of ups and downs but I believe that’s because I stayed true to myself the whole time, so I definitely felt things more. I think the idea of getting to know someone on national tv is scarier than actually doing it because once I was in there I forgot the cameras were there and it all felt so natural.

Now that you’re back in the real world, how has life changed for you since Love Island?

I’m not 100% new to this kind of lifestyle but life has definitely changed in the sense that I was never getting stopped for pictures before, so that’s kind of crazy! Otherwise, I’m still trying to stick to things I did before Love Island like reformer pilates and seeing my friends and loved ones when I’ve got the time. I’ve been super busy with work since coming out but I’ve been loving every second of it.

“I EMBRACED EVERY SECOND OF IT AND FEEL I really grew as a person FROM THE EXPERIENCE.”

Did you learn anything new about yourself during your time on Love Island?

I wouldn’t say I learnt anything new about myself but obviously it’s not a normal experience to go through, so it was a little out my comfort zone. But I embraced every second of it and feel I really grew as a person from the experience.

You’ve been through the Love Island experience first-hand. What advice would you give to future contestants who are thinking about entering the villa next year?

Be yourself and most importantly TRUST THE PROCESS! There was times where I’d get lost and caught up with it all but there’s always a path and plan in the end. What I learnt is people are always going to have an opinion on you whether they love or hate you, so you have to remember that and focus on the good - it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity!

What’s next for you? Are there any exciting projects, ventures, or plans on the horizon that you can share with

I’m working on so many exciting things behind the scenes and I hate to be this person but I’m not able to share the key projects just yet. But make sure to stay tuned!

KARWAL AESTHETICS

MAYFAIR

In recent weeks, Karwal Aesthetics has seen a surge of inquiries flooding in about under-eye treatments—particularly, the question that keeps cropping up: *Which is better for me, polynucleotides or tear trough fillers?* Many wonder if these two options deliver the same results, but they are entirely distinct treatments, and understanding their differences is key to making an informed decision.

Polynucleotides have recently gained immense popularity, and with it, a wave of hype has followed. However, Mayfair’s renowned aesthetic doctor wants to set the record straight. “I think there’s a lot of misinformation out there,” he says, “and many clinics are selling unrealistic expectations of what polynucleotides can actually do.”

So, what exactly are polynucleotides? In essence, they are skin boosters derived from salmon DNA designed to improve skin quality—*and that’s it*. They’re not a magic fix-all solution, but in certain situations, they can be effective. For instance, if you’re dealing with fine lines, wrinkles, or hyperpigmentation (dark skin) beneath the eyes, polynucleotides may offer some improvement. But here’s the catch: if your concern is hollowness or bags in the tear trough area, these skin boosters won’t make a difference. “In cases like that, polynucleotides won’t solve the problem and could end up being a waste of your money,” the doctor explains.

“I’ve seen clients who were promised polynucleotides would dramatically improve their tear troughs, only to be disappointed when the real issue— loss of volume—wasn’t addressed”

For most people, dark circles under the eyes are often caused by a lack of volume or the presence of bags. In such cases, polynucleotides won’t help, despite the marketing claims some clinics might push. “I’ve seen clients who were promised polynucleotides would dramatically improve their tear troughs, only to be disappointed when the real issue—loss of volume—wasn’t addressed,” he notes.

So, what’s the solution? Dermal fillers. As we age, fat volume beneath the eyes and in the cheeks diminishes in some areas, while in others, the fat can herniate, creating a bag. Additionally, the fat in the cheeks begins to descend due to gravity, contributing to

the appearance of hollowness or puffiness. In some cases, this issue can even occur at a young age. Dermal fillers work by restoring the lost volume, creating a smoother, more rejuvenated appearance. “If you’re looking to correct hollowness or bags in the tear trough area, dermal fillers are your go-to. They restore the volume, which is the real key to achieving visible improvement,” the doctor emphasizes.

In a world full of beauty buzzwords and quick fixes, it’s crucial to distinguish between the hype and what really works. For anyone confused about the right treatment for their under-eye concerns, the message is clear: be informed, and choose the treatment that truly addresses your concerns. Tear trough filler, in particular, is a delicate and complex procedure, so it’s crucial to seek out a practitioner with experience in treating this specific area of the face to ensure safe and effective results.

READY-SETRETINOL

Let’s start with a quick explainer on how this supremely effective stuff works. Retinoid is an umbrella term for all vitamin-A derivatives, including retinol (and retina, the prescription version), that trigger collagen and elastin production - two proteins in skin that make it plump and firm, and boost cell turnover (aka your skin’s natural renewal process) for brighter, clearer, healthier-looking skin.

Retinoids sink into your skin to speed up cell turnover, causing your body to churn out fresher, smoother less wrinkled skin over time. Basically, retinol is pure gold when it comes to improving skin texture and tone.

How

to maximise your results

Here’s what you need to know when selecting a retinol cream:

Choose the formula best suited to your skin type

Retinols come in both cream and serum formulas, though the ideal one for you largely depends on your skin type: For those with sensitive or dry skin, a retinol cream or oil is often preferred, while those with oily or acne-prone skin may benefit from a retinol serum, since they tend to be more lightweight!

Think about the other ingredients

The best retinol creams will contain retinol as well as other ingredients tailored to your skin type and skin concerns. For example, if you have dry skin and want to plump fine lines, a retinol cream that contains hyaluronic acid would be a good choice.

If your primary skin goal is brightening, a retinol cream with niacinamide or vitamin C is the best move.

And if you want to improve skin texture and reduce pore size, look for a retinol cream that contains exfoliating acids, such as glycolic acid or lactic acid.

Start off low and slow

When shopping for a new retinol cream, it’s best to begin with the lowest percentage you can find, and then work your way up to a higher concentration - especially if you have sensitive skin or are new to using retinol, you’ll want to use it sparingly, so, start by using your retinol cream every other night for a few weeks and increase the usage as the weeks go on.

Opt for products without fragrances

Fragrance, whether it’s synthetic or naturally derived, can be potentially irritating when used in skincare products. Play it safe and look for a fragrance-free retinol cream to minimise flaking, redness, or sensitivity.

Consider using a prescription formula

Retinoids are available in both over-the-counter and prescription versions, which is what most dermatologists recommend. Prescription retinoids, such as tretinoin are the gold-standard for anti-ageing, collagen-promoting and treating acne. Over-the-counter retinoids (such as retinol) try to mimic the effects of prescription retinoids, but they are much less powerful! That said, OTC retinols, which come in varying strengths, still have major benefits.

Don’t overdo it

Usually, it takes a minimum of three months to see some reduction in fine lines and overall skin improvement, and trying to speed up the process or using a too-strong formula will only irritate the hell out of your face.

Weaker retinoids take longer (but are more tolerable), while stronger retinoids work faster (but with way more redness and flakiness).

WHAT YOUR RELATIONSHIP STYLE SAYS ABOUT YOU

“My new mantra is ‘choose your hard.’ It’s hard to become self-aware and process your feelings and make changes but so is staying exactly as you are and self-destructing. Choose. Your. Hard.”

Hello you lovely bunch! Well, this month I have been the shoulder to cry on for one of my friends who has been going through it.

What I still find absolutely hilarious, is that my friends will come and ask me for relationship advice. “Homies, I’m not the one” is a regular phrase I must reiterate. It’s been a tumultuous 2.5 years of weird dating scenarios and I’m no closer to being in a relationship, in fact, I’m closer to adopting a disproportionate number of cats. But, ask me about how you can better yourself

to improve your chances of a healthy, loving relationship…. “Pull up a chair, I’ve got all night. Bring a notepad.”

A few years ago, when I was struggling with the breakdown of my relationship and after dipping my toe in the dating pool, I decided to understand my relationship attachment style in more detail and how that determined who, and how, I date. As years have gone by and I have taken the proverbial dunk into the dating ocean, I am confident my relationship style has changed yet again.

Unlike your horoscopes, or football team, your relationship style can change based on your relationship experiences with the right focus, and intentions. So, let’s get into Psychology 101, given to you by someone who is not a psychologist, but someone who is on a journey of self-awareness and self-discovery. Your attachment style, according to British psychiatrist John Bowlby and American psychologist Mary Ainsworth, reflects your emotional connection you formed as a child with your primary caregiver. The quality of the bond you had will typically determine your emotional response to relationships and intimacy in your adult life.

If you were made to feel secure, safe and loved as a child, you will more often feel this way as a normal response to relationships as an adult. If your childhood was volatile, neglectful and your needs were not met, you’ll likely adopt an insecure attachment and have a more negative approach to relationships in your adult life. I can testify to this. My childhood was volatile with a lack of support, love, nurturing and affection from my mother which translated to me being anxious, needy and feeling unworthy of love in my adult life.

The first step is understanding that this is a perfectly normal response to your circumstances. It took me a very long time to understand that I came from chaos, so chaos was my comfort and I was drawn to it. Hence the reason why I was always attracted to the same people and that I repeated the same mistakes over and over again causing myself pain. It was only when I sat down and gave myself a good talking to and identified the triggers and the behaviours, that I began making conscious changes. But that brings its own difficulties.

My new mantra is ‘choose your hard.’ It’s hard to become self-aware and process your feelings and make changes but so is staying exactly as you are and self-destructing. Choose. Your. Hard.

There are four attachment styles to be aware of:

1. Secure Attachment Style

People with this type of attachment style will thrive in close meaningful relationships and will have an open, honest and loving dialogue with mutual respect and healthy boundaries. These individuals will have a harmonious balance between intimacy and independence. They know their self-worth and can also see the worth in others. Importantly, they’re able to resolve conflict and bounce back. Secure attachment is the attachment style which is the healthiest and you’ll be pleased to know, anyone can make changes to adopt this style. Oh, to be this person. *Sighs as going through toxic cycles.*

2. Anxious Attachment Style

Those of us (yes, I said us!) who may be overly clingy or needy with the reliance of constant reassurance from our partners that they do in fact like us. There is an element of distrust even when your partner is showing you intimacy and signs that they care and we have this nagging feeling that at any point, something or someone will make them leave. You may have low self-worth and you rely heavily on your partner reassuring you that your worthy of love. You see time apart as an excuse because you think they do not want to be with you, thus, you don’t set healthy boundaries for yourself and you expect the same from them. Your relationship has your life in a chokehold. It is the centre of your life so when it’s not going to plan, you feel like your whole life is a mess. This typically comes from an inconsistent care giver who left you feeling neglected and abandoned in one breath, involved and engaged in another. It was like my mum played jedi mind tricks with me throughout my entire childhood... even still into adulthood.

4. Disorganised Attachment Style

Those with a disorganised attachment style have a strong fear that they are not worthy of love and the world, and the people in it, are scary. This style is most likely found in adults who were abused as children. This abuse is something they have become accustomed to and will try and replicate some of these abusive patterns in adult relationships both intentionally and unintentionally. You will find that these individuals will swing from love to hate, up and down and will be highly toxic in a relationship. They will exhibit low levels of empathy, emotional regulation and impulse control. As much as some of these individuals want to have healthy and loving relationships, they inherently believe they are not worthy of love and are scared of being hurt. These individuals may not be very self-aware and therefore, less accountable for their actions making conflict resolution very difficult.

“THERE ARE TIMES WHEN I STILL BELIEVE I AM NOT WORTHY OF LOVE AND I AM back in the world of disorganised attachment.”

It’s not their fault though, often, their caregiver would not have provided them with a stable environment growing up, with many ups and downs, intense periods of love and then neglect which many would find traumatizing. If this was your normal, wouldn’t you be surprised if you didn’t carry that with you through life?

As years have passed, my styles have fluctuated. At the heart of who I am, I have an anxious attachment style. I have worked hard to become more secure in myself and adopt and believe in secure attachment however; there are times when I still believe I am not worthy of love and I am back in the world of disorganised attachment. I notice I sometimes slip back into old habits and find myself attracted to those who I know will hurt me, those who are emotionally unavailable so I can turn around and say yet again “I told you so, I don’t need anyone, I’m fine on my own” and there’s the avoidant dismissive poking her head out yet again. I am a work in progress.

3. Avoidant Dismissive Style

An avoidant dismissive will shy away from any type of emotional openness, in fact, they typically fear it. They fear they will lose themselves, their freedom, their independence and definitely do not want anyone relying on them for any type of emotional support. Absolutely not. “You anxiously attached weirdos can find someone else to suck the life out of”. These individuals will lack empathy and will not take consideration for their partners feelings. They tend to stick to non-committal situationships. Unfortunately, however; they also attract the anxiously attached which is a recipe for disaster. The Anxiously attached will push forward whilst the avoidant will constantly push away, leaving the anxiously attached feeling hurt, neglected and abandoned yet again; a vicious cycle of inconsistency and pain.

Those who are Avoidants may have potentially been neglected in childhood so were forced to ‘self soothe’. These individuals will now be hyper independent and will lack intimacy.

Finding yourself is hard, loving yourself can sometimes be hard, but not doing the work to become more self-aware, more emotionally intelligent, to overcome any childhood trauma to go on to lead a more fulfilling life is even harder.

Choose your hard.

By taking the time to acknowledge what is holding you back, you’re already one step closer to finding your Nirvana. Take care of yourself.

Keeping Up With Katerina

Happy October everyone!

We are half way through the -ber months now and it’s safe to say autumn is well and truly upon us! As well as the crisp mornings and dark evenings – half term will creep around at the end of this month quicker than we can say pumpkin patch! Below are some of my top picks for what to watch, what to read and where to eat!

What to watch

If you’re not already hooked, Married at First Sight UK is back and is probably now my favourite reality TV show! It is absolutely hilarious as well as jaw dropping and if you haven’t already binged, you can catch up on Channel 4 to watch how a group of single strangers get married at first sight! If you’re more of a drama person than a reality TV person – then head over to Apple TV for a show called “Presumed Innocent” a gripping crime drama!

What to read

A few of my friends and I have started a book club (mostly for the monthly meet ups) but during the last 4 months we’ve actually kept up with some good reads! 2 books I would highly

recommend are “Verity” by Coleen Hoover and “Flock” by Kate Stewart. Both books are extremely gripping and leave you wanting more. Read them alongside a friend because you’ll definitely need someone to discuss them with!

Where to eat

One thing about me is, I love a local good food spot. Eating in London is always fun, but let’s face it, time out of the house with children can sometimes be limited, so travelling an hour to get there and another 30 mins of frantically looking for parking isn’t something you can always do. Haus – a beautiful Chinese/ Pan Asian restaurant in the heart of Cuffley gives you the feeling of stepping in to the heart of the Westend with some of the best Asian food I’ve ever eaten – with the comfort of it being up the road!

Have a lovely month, until next time lovelies

ANNA WILLIAMSON

We caught up with renowned relationship expert and love coach, Anna Williamson, to discuss the latest season of Celebs Go Dating and delve into her insights on love, dating, and everything in between.

As a love coach on Celebs Go Dating, what drew you to the world of relationship coaching, and how did it become a passion for you?

This has been my tenth series of Celebs Go Dating and I think it’s been one of my favourites, and it’s certainly been one of the most successful in terms of the stories that came through from our celebrities. We also have a couple of relationships at the end of it as well, so it’s been fantastic. I’ve been working in the world of therapy and coaching and counselling since 2009, and counselling was the first discipline that I went into. Over the years, just as a natural interest in the world of talking therapy, I started adding to my qualifications and my training, and coaching became kind of a huge part in the majority of what I offered. Coaching is very future paced, it’s very forward thinking and I think it works really well in conjunction with counselling, which can often be quite pensive with a lot of learning from the past and lots of unpacking. I think the combination of the two can work really well hand in hand with each other, looking back but also looking forward as well.

Relationship coaching became a passion area of mine off the back of having a very toxic relationship in my mid-twenties, and I was in what we now know and would now label a psychologically abusive relationship, coercive control.

As a young girl in my twenties, I had no idea what this was, and particularly when I was in that relationship, I had no idea that what I was experiencing by being controlled and some of the narcissistic traits the boyfriend at the time was displaying. I didn’t know what it was, all I knew is that it was absolutely horrific, and I didn’t know how to get out of the situation. It was as a result of getting out of that situation with the help of some very good friends and family, that I became fascinated with the world of relationships and dating, because I considered myself a pretty intuitive woman, particularly someone working in the world of talking therapy, and yet it happened to me.

us. We talked about everything from physical abuse, domestic abuse, marriage, divorce, break-ups, being fresh to the dating game, feelings of low self-esteem, low self-confidence, defence mechanisms; we had it all through our celebrities. We were able this series to unpack our celebrities a lot deeper than we probably have ever done before, and that’s every credit to the celebs for allowing us to go there and for trusting us to really unpack them from a therapeutic alliance approach. We’ve had some great success, Ella has come away with a boyfriend, Stephen has come away with a boyfriend, and we’ve had great success stories in Jamelia feeling a lot more confident now in her own space and is ready to date and find the right partner. Lauryn has also found the experience incredibly healing, and everybody who has come through our doors has really said that they have found the whole experience extremely enriching, and that’s what we want.

On Celebs Go Dating, you work with such a diverse group of personalities. What has been your biggest breakthrough moment with one of the celebs this season?

“I THINK THIS SERIES WE REALLY JUST stepped things up a notch WHEN IT CAME TO THE DIFFERENT CHALLENGES THAT OUR CELEBRITIES BOUGHT TO US.”

So, I became naturally interested around relationships and how they impact pretty much everything we do. It became a passion area, and it is an area of coaching that I find hugely rewarding and enriching, and essentially helping people become the best versions of themselves. Working on ourselves and working on who we are in order to be the best version of ourselves to then offer that up to somebody else to be your teammate and your partner.

You’ve been guiding celebs through their dating journeys on Celebs Go Dating for several seasons now. What sets this latest series apart from the previous ones.

I think this series we really just stepped things up a notch when it came to the different challenges that our celebrities bought to

I think all of them have had their moments! I think Jamelia has been quite a stand-out celebrity this series for me, in that she came in very much lacking in self-confidence and in self-validation. She came in with a real negative stigma which she had placed on herself around being a mum of four children by different fathers, and she was almost carrying with herself an apology. Through the process we had some real breakout moments with her when she really did realise how special she is and how everything she has been through has been a learning curve, a source of empowerment for her, and has helped her become this very strong, independent woman who will settle for nothing other than spectacular. That has been a real joy to watch her have that moment of clarity; that lightbulb moment that actually, she is great, and everything that she’s done has been as a result of being a strong woman going through a learning process, and that she is fantastic.

Many of the celebs you work with have been through public breakups and relationships. How do you help them find a healthy balance between their personal and public dating lives?

I think what we find with our celebrities is that the only dividing factor between a celebrity and a non-celebrity is that they have this persona that they carry and often a public perception, which

can weigh quite heavy on some of our celebs. We have to get through that layer of the mask that they wear; the representative that they show to the media typically will come in for dating processes and they’ll show this perception of who others think they are, and it takes a while to kind of chip away at that exterior to allow themselves to be their true selves. What I really try with the guys, is to really focus on who they are. Strip away the façade of their celebrity status and their day job, and really put the emphasis on their foundations, their core values and core beliefs. Who is their support structure? Who is their support network? Who are the people that show up for you unapologetically and just get you? Who are the people that you trust and who are the people that trust you? Really focus in on that core foundation of you as a person, so that anything on top, the career, the public profile, is just the icing and the cherry on the cake. If we are anchored in stability and trust and respect, then we are going to be a much happier, healthier, more fulfilled person.

In addition to your TV work, you co-host the hugely popular LuAnna podcast with Luisa Zissman. What inspired you to start the podcast, and what’s been the best part of that journey so far?

I mean, I had no idea that LuAnna the podcast would become this runaway success that it has become. We have tens of millions of listeners, we’ve been going for six years, and we’ve only just started, really. We’ve sold out the London Palladium four times, we’ve had a national sellout tour of fourteen dates, we’ve just had a sellout live event at The Troxy. It’s amazing how people just seem to really be encapsulated by this friendship that the two of us have. Really, I think the success of what we have is that we are just two ridiculous women who have slightly interesting, ridiculous lives, and we are just normal people. We are very happy to show that side of us, warts, and all!

People that can identify with our kind of ‘no sh*ts given’ attitude to life; sh*t happens, and we are there to embrace it and to move with it and roll with it, but we always find fun and the light in life, and that’s what I love about it. We started it because I had another podcast, and Luisa came on and she enjoyed it. She fancied starting a podcast and asked me to help her, so I jumped on that with her; it was only going to be for a couple of episodes and then the viewers seemed to really like the dynamic between the two of us; our chalk and cheese approach to a lot of topics, but equally this overall umbrella of fun and laughter and friendship – it just took off!

As a relationship coach, what’s the most common mistake you see celebs make in their dating journey?

I think the most common mistake is them not trusting their authentic self. A lot of celebs come in with this perception of how they think they need to behave on a date, but it’s reminding them on a meet and greet that they are not here dating a fan. To really meet a proper life partner, somebody who is on your same wavelength, somebody where you can be equals and balanced, you have to reveal your authentic self. You have to show them the warts and all, you have to drop the act and drop the mask, trust them and allow people to see the real you. That has to be the most common mistake that celebrities make, that they feel they have to put on a show, and that creates an imbalance between them and dating a non-celebrity. That is why a lot of our celebrities end up dating celebrities, because they are in this kind of knowledge that you understand the world that I live in. However, I am married to a noncelebrity, if you think I’m a celebrity, and actually what binds us is a shared value and a shared authenticity to be our unapologetic selves, in which we conduct our private life behind closed doors, and that’s really important. Celebrities need to learn when to conduct their private life privately and choose carefully what they want to share with the public, because they will always be open to opinion and criticism.

Aubergine

& pumpkin

PARMIGIANA

Aubergines work well in summer and winter. In Diana Henry’s receipe, the aubergine’s velvety flesh soaks up all the rich flavours around it for a truly comforting dish.

Serves 6

Prep 15 mins

Cook 55 mins

Ingredients

½ medium pumpkin or squash, peeled and deseeded to give 650g flesh • 180ml

Essential Olive Oil • 2 large aubergines, about 650g • 3 x 125g balls mozzarella, drained and thinly sliced • 85g Parmigiano Reggiano, finely grated

For the tomato sauce

2 tbsp Essential Olive Oil • 1 onion, finely chopped • 2 x 400g cans chopped tomatoes (I use Mutti Polpa) • 2 tsp dried oregano • Pinch sugar

Method

Cook’s tip

You don’t have to peel squash skin as it will soften when cooking, but you can if you prefer.

First make the tomato sauce. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan, add the onion and fry over a medium heat for about 7 minutes until softened. Add the tomatoes, oregano, sugar and seasoning. Leave to simmer over a gentle heat for about 25 minutes until thickened. It should taste quite intense.

Preheat the oven to 200oC, gas mark 6. Cut the pumpkin or squash into 1.5cm chunks, then tumble into a roasting tin in a single layer and mix with 2 tbsp olive oil. Season and roast until golden and tender, about 20-25 minutes, turning over the chunks a couple of times.

Cut the aubergines lengthways into 0.5cm slices. Heat 2 tbsp more oil in a large frying pan. Cook the aubergines in batches for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are a good colour and soft. Season as you go and add more olive oil as you need it.

Aubergines absorb a lot of oil so put double thickness paper towels in a large area near the hob. As soon as the aubergines are fried, put the slices on the paper. When they are cooked you can blot the surfaces, although this is an olive oil-rich dish and that’s one of its joys.

Spread a little of the tomato sauce on the bottom of a 2L baking dish, then put some of the pumpkin or squash on top. Dot with some mozzarella, sprinkle over the parmesan and top with more tomato sauce, then add a layer of aubergine.

Continue layering, ending with a topping of mozzarella and parmesan. The vegetables don’t have to be in any particular order, but it’s important to spread the distribution of the tomato sauce and cheeses so that you don’t run out before the top.

Bake for 30 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and taken on a good golden colour. Remove from the oven and leave to rest for about 10 minutes before serving.

Pumpkin & roast almond SOUP

A delicious hearty soup to warm you through.

Top off with a sprinkle of toasted almonds or pumpkin seeds for added flavour and crunch.

Serves 6 Prep 15 mins Cook 20 mins

Ingredients

150g blanched almonds • 1½kg pumpkin or butternut squash • 50ml olive oil • 3 clove/s garlic, peeled and crushed • 1 L Cooks’ Ingredients chicken stock, hot

Method

Preheat the oven to 180oC, gas mark 4. Lay the almonds on a baking tray and roast for 10 minutes until golden.

Meanwhile, using a sharp knife, peel away the skin and then halve and deseed the pumpkin. Cut it into large chunks then coarsely grate with a box grater or food processor fitted with a grater attachment. Heat the oil in a large, heavy-based pan, add the garlic and fry gently for about a minute until golden. Increase the temperature, add the grated pumpkin and almonds and fry for 10 minutes, stirring continuously. If the pumpkin starts to dry out at any point, add a ladleful of chicken stock.

Add any remaining stock and simmer for 5 minutes. Take the pan off the heat and leave to cool for a few minutes. Blend the soup in batches in a liquidiser until smooth then return to the pan and reheat gently. Divide between warm bowls and serve garnished with toasted almonds or pumpkin seeds.

Pumpkin & ginger CUPCAKES

Children will love making these delicious cupcakes. Scroll to find out how to top them with petrifying pumpkin faces, creepy crawlies and cute spooks, too!

Makes 18

Prep 15 mins

Cook 20 mins

Ingredients

275g pumpkin (or butternut squash), peeled and deseeded • 30g root ginger, grated • 100g slightly salted butter, softened

• 100g light brown muscovado sugar • 2 medium Waitrose British

Blacktail Free Range Egg • 175g self-raising flour • ½ tsp baking powder • 50g sultanas

Method

Preheat the oven to 180oC, gas mark 4. Line 18 sections of 2 x 12-hole cake trays with fairy cake cases (or bake in 2 batches).

Dice the pumpkin and cook in boiling water for 15 minutes until tender. Drain thoroughly and return to the saucepan. Mash well. Sandwich between plenty of sheets of kitchen paper and press down firmly so the paper absorbs the moisture.

Put the ginger, butter, sugar, eggs, flour and baking powder in a mixing bowl and beat with an electric whisk until smooth and creamy. Beat in the pumpkin puree and sultanas briefly to mix.

Spoon into the cases, filling them threequarters full, then bake for 20 minutes until risen and springy to the touch. Transfer to a wire rack to cool before decorating.

Pumpkin faces: Cook 250g sliced carrots in boiling water for 20 minutes or until very soft. Drain well, cool, then blend to a smooth puree. Add 125g softened butter, 175g icing sugar and 1 tsp lemon juice and blend until smooth. Add extra icing sugar if the mixture splits and continue to blend. Spoon into a Cooks’ Homebaking Piping Bag, cut off a 2.5cm tip and pipe 1cm-thick lines back and forth across each cupcake.

Cut small pieces of kiwi fruit to resemble stalks and push into the tops. Cut slices of skin from large black grapes, cut out zigzag mouth shapes from these and push gently into the cupcakes. Add triangles of grape skin for eyes and noses.

Cute spooks: Peel, core and dice 2 small cooking apples and put in a pan with half a tsp lemon juice. Cover and cook gently for 8–10 minutes or until the apple is very soft, giving it an occasional stir.

Mash well, tip into a bowl and leave to cool. Add 375g creamy soft cheese, 75g icing sugar and 75g soft butter. Whisk until smooth and chill for an hour to firm up. Spoon into a Cooks’ Homebaking Piping Bag, in batches if necessary, and cut off a 3.5cm tip.

Pipe swirls of frosting onto each cupcake, trailing off to a point at the top. Cut ovals of blueberry skin for eyes.

Creepy crawlies: Beat a 250g tub creamy soft cheese in a bowl with 50g icing sugar and a little green food colouring. Spread over the cakes.

Melt 50g milk or plain chocolate and pour into a Cooks’ Homebaking Piping Bag. Cut off the smallest tip possible and pipe fine lines to draw spider’s webs over a third of the cakes. For spiders, press a red or black grape with a blueberry in front into half the remaining cakes.

Cut 3cm lengths of liquorice Catherine wheels and cut these into fine strips to make legs. Pipe dots of chocolate for eyes. Make centipedes for the remaining cakes by halving small blueberries and arranging them in a curved line. Add a larger blueberry half for heads, a pointed piece for tails, and pipe chocolate legs and eyes.

This green oasis stretches from the city centre to the north-eastern edge and offers everything from tranquil meadows to lively beer gardens. The park’s Chinese Tower beer garden is particularly popular, providing a quintessential Bavarian experience where visitors can enjoy a stein of beer under the shade of chestnut trees while listening to traditional oompah bands.

Being a young female naturally attracts other women, who admit they feel comfortable speaking to a female broker who is engaging, not patronising.
