This new eq uip· ment will enable a larger number of students in both the Metallurgical .l!:ngineering D epartment and Mechanical Engineering Depart· ment to participate in the foundry program of study here . Plans discussed by the visiting committee may e v entually lead to as much a" $50 ,000 worth of eq uipment being made available for the program at this school. Draft Deferment Necessary C. R. Culling, Vice President of the Foundry Educa tio nal Foundation, and President of the Carondelt Foundry in St. Louis, stressed the necessity of draft deferment for those boys graduating from foundry engineering programs in June to provide the necessary p ersonnel for the national expansion of this industry . The recent expansion of the war effort has resulted in an un· usually h eavy load for the foundry industry , and greatly increased the demand for men trained in this f ield .
