Foreword Last year Dr. Merl Baker stepped down as chancellor of UMR and this year, on October 1, Dr. Raymond Bisplinghoff took over the responsibilities as the chancellor. Prior to his coming to the campus, Dr. Bisplinghoff served as deputy director of the National Science Foundation in Wash., D.C. One of his last assignments was that of a member of a U.S. delegation which visited Saudi Arabia to discuss the oil-energy situation . We feel that we at UMR are extremely fortunate to have such a distinguished man as chancellor and hope that in the years that he is here he can continue to improve the quality of education we have here at UMR.

Parents Day

September 28th was UMR's annual Parents Day. The purpose of the day was to show the parents of UMR students what life at the university is really like. After an informal reception, tours were held and a luncheon was given at the University Center. The day ended with a football game between UMR and Kansas State College .

University Day

There was plenty of things to do and see at the UMR University Day on November 9th. High School and Junior College students attended this annual open house to get acquainted with the people and facilities at UMR. A good time and educational experience was had by all who attended.

IIHollis Jay'' On September 5th, Alpha Omega Players of Dallas presented the Benjamin Bradford play, "Where Are You Going, Hollis Jay". The play centered around two college freshman falling in love.

On October 8th, the Student Union Board presented, "The Boston Tea Party", a production by professional players . The mood of "Tea Party" was basically comic and politically oriented .

Homecom ing 1974

As in years past, the Miner party spirit was too much for the wet, miserable weather, as students, faculty, alumni, and friends enjoyed the largest of all fall events at UMR. The weekend was one of complete success that started off with an excellent alumni turnout f rom the class of 1949 who came to renew long-lost friendships on the 25th anniversary of their graduation .

was night F rid av highlighted by the many dances at fraternities and eating clubs, the official Homecomin g Dance, and Coronatio n Queen Ceremonies . Miss Kathy Schaefer, representing Phi Kappa Theta, was crowned queen after an exhaustive comparison of many deserving women. Kappa Sigma received the award for the Homecom ing best decorations . The pledges of Lambda Chi Alpha won the annual IFC PJ race before the game Saturday afternoon.

liThe Fantasticks''

"The Fantasticks" was presented by the Continental a Company, Theatre professional touring company from Kansas. The show is the longest running OffBroadway musical in American theatre history. The plot centers around two fathers trying to match son and daughter.

UMR Blood Drive

The UMR Blood Com mittee, in conjuction w ith the American Red Cross, sponsered three blood drives over the year. Students gave blood between classes and were refilled with cookies and refreshments. Ap proximatley 80 percent of the Red Cross ' Phelps Coun ty blood quota is supplied by UMR students.

IFC Cleanu p The third annual IFC Clean-Up was held on November 9th . The Clean Up resulted in an estimated 20 tons of trash being picked up in the Rolla area. The IFC manpower provided the while Rolla Sanitation, UMR, Rolla some and provided businessmen trucks for the pickup of trash bags.

IFC Sing

The annual IFC Sing started the 1974 Christm as Party Weeke nd. Centen n ial Hall was packed as UMR's Greeks gathere d to display their talents . The time betwee n acts was filled with comedy skits and music by the UMR Jazz Ensem ble .

SUB Casino Night The Student Union Board held its Casino Night on January 24th. The evening was sponsored for pleasure rather than profit. The deal ing behind the game tables was handled by some helpful profs and administrators. Many students attended to find some relief from hard studies.

Rob Inglis

Rob Inglis presented in a delightful manner the ribald and raucus humor of the literary classic, The Canterbury Tales. Before a disappointingly small crowd, Inglis performed the great work of Chaucer with perfection.

Engineer's Week The theme of Engineers' Week was "Engineering Exploring New Energy Fron tiers ". In observance of Engineers' Week, UMR's traveling engineering exhibit was on display in the St. Pats ballroom . Displays included an urban car built by UMR students, a wankel engine, a mini computer, and many more.

Eiji Hashimo to

On February 16, the students of UMR had the chance to see one of the better known harpsichordists in the country, Eiji Hashimoto. Hashimoto has obtained international fame by performing in many ofthe capitals in the world . Hashimoto started the show with an. informal chat about the harpsichord, and con tinued by playing a variety of music from the 17th and 18th centuries.

On February 21st, the St. Louis Brass Quintet performed music of the major the from composers Renaissance to the 20th century. The Quintet has been performing at colleges across the nation.

Theta Tau Casino Night

On the Wednesday before St . Pats, Theta Tau held its annual Casino Night with the proceeds going to the Ugly M an charity drive. Many Rolla businessmen donated prizes and refreshments while the fraternities and soront1es provided the entertainment.

St. Pats With the arrival of St. Pat on the hand car and the tapping of free bear at Top Hat, St. Pats Party Weekend officially moved into full swing . The coronation was performed with a style and grace not usually associated with the men in green. Governor Kit Bond was declared honorary St . Pat . Knighthood was bestowed on Chancellor Raymond Bisplinghoff, Mayor Harold Barnes, Mr. Robert Schucardt, St. Pat in 1950, and Mrs. Elizabeth Lorey. Miss Marilyn Weints was chosen the 1975 St . Pats Queen of Love and Beauty.

The Games

This year the St. Pats Games drew the largest crowd of the past several years. A new record was obtained by Bill Williams as he won the Six Pack Chug in 45 seconds. " Easy" Moore was the victor in the En durance Chug . In a popular and hotly contested event, Jane Gremp came out on top in the Girls Quart Chug. The tree from Beta Sigma Psi was the winner for the second year runnmg .

The annual St. Pats parade was a spectical floats, bands, antique cars, and this year, Anheuser - Busch the Clydesdale horses. The parade was very traditional with the St. Pats alum painting Pine Street green, St. Pat riding on a manure spreader pulled by freshman, and the Queens Float filled with lovely ga Is representing many organizations on campus.

Who is Alice? The knighting Ceremony took place early Saturday afternoon . The warm weather and the nature of this strange event was responsible for a huge crowd at UMR's Jacklin Field . Many organizations saw their elected knights kiss the hand of the St. Pats Queen and then take a dip in Alice. The crazy outfits of the knights and a dead possum were highlites of the afternoon .

The annual All In dependents Party Weekend was sponsored by the UMR Dorms, the ICC, GDI, and the International Students . Dan cing , dining, drinkin g, and games were the order of the weekend. Echo Valley Farm was the site of two five-hour dances, the ALL- U- Can - Eat Barbeque, and the games.

"Kiss Me, Kate", a musical by Cole Porter, was presented in the spring by the UMR Theatre Guild and UMR Music Section. "Kate", is a of version musical Shakespears ' Tamming of the Shrew". Each night found Centennial Hall packed, in dicating that the UMR Miners can appreciate a cultura l performance .

The Elysian Fields was the site of the Greek Games . The fields have been improved each year . 1975 was no exception as a scoreboard was constructed to keep the Greeks informed on the progress of the chariot race, rat race, keg toss , limbo, and tug -of-war . The job begins in August with 'selection of staff and photographers within the first weeks of school, and continues throughout the school year as deadlines are met, the ROLLAMO Queen and her court are chosen, and final proofreading and finishing touches are added.

ROLLAMO Photographers The major job of the ROLLAMO's Photographers Staff is the picture collecting and developing for the yearbook. Several thousand pictures are taken each year by the photographers on the yearbook staff, and several thousand pictures must be developed and printed for each yearbook published. Missouri Miner

This past year the MINER staff worked to up-grade the paper. Changes were made and the work was done . The publication consistently ran twelve pages. The annual 24 page St. Pat's issue was once again a success. The staff also received recognition for a Special Freshman issue produced jointly with the Student Council.

The St. Pat's Board is comprised of men from every living unit which participates in the St. Patrick's Day activities. The entire purpose of the St. Pat's Board is to plan, prepare, and execute the festivities which are a landmark of the University of Missouri-Rolla . The St. Pat's Board strives to keep alive the traditions which started over seventy years ago, but also to change the celebration to include new ideas and events that will make St. Pat's better every year.

Alpha Phi Omega Alpha Phi Omega is a national service fraternity. One of the organization's methods of serving the student body is the semesterly book distribution. Blue Key Blue Key is a National Honor Fraternity whose members are selected on the basis of character, abil ity and potential. On the UMR campus, its activities range in scope from services to the campus to services to the faculty and students. Beta Chi Sigma Beta Chi Sigma is a newly organized service fraternity on the UMR campus. It is dedicated to preserving the ideals of the order of the arrow and providing service to campus, community, and scouting. Its big project of the year was the Merit Badge University which coordinated 28 merit badge skill centers sponsored by many campus and community organizations .

Gamma Alpha Delta is a Greek service organization which includes representatives from eleven frater nities and two sororities . The group organizes work projects throughout the state, allowing students to apply knowledge learned in the classroom to human needs. GAD also sponsors two discussion seminars in each member house each semester . The organization strives to create wellrounded engineers and scientists aware of the moral commitments of their profession

Circle K is a service organization for college men and women similar to Kiwanis Club in the professional world and Key Club in the high schools. In fact, Circle K at UMR is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Rolla and periodically works with them and Key Club of Rolla High to coordinate service projects and social events. Intercollegiate Knights Intercollegi ate Knights Auxiliary IKA is a service organization open to all girls not on academic probation. It is the aim of the girls ' auxiliary to serve the school and the community and to give its members a better chance to become experienced in leadership. In addition to working with the Intercollegiate Knights, IKA activities include parties for underprivileged children, visiting nursing homes, working at football games, and an annual bakesale. Arnold Air Society is the professional service organization of Air Force ROTC. Although membership is limited to certain AFROTC cadets, our service projects have helped in the entire community. In the past, we have done extensive work for Cerebral Palsy, the Heart Fund, and the POW/ MIA crusade, provided an Aerospace Merit Badge program for Rolla Boy Scouts, served Miss as escorts for the area Junior Pageant, and provided lectures and demonstrations for Civil Air Patrol cadets.

Better known as the "Mates", the organization provides social entertainment for students and their families. The husband and wife tennis tournament is an annual event, along with various parties, picnics, bowling and game nights, and any other reasons for a gettogether. Meeting new friends is the purpose of the club, and among their goals is to place higher than last year in intramural competition.

Cycling Club The Cycling Club was organized by and for anyone interested in any of the numerous aspects of cycling : riding, repair workshops, rac ing, etc. Trips vary in length and ate great for beginning and advanced riders alike. Usual departure time on almost every nice Sunday is 1 :00 P.M. from the 路 "hockey puck" . Everyone is welcome .

Economics Club Forensic Societ y Even though the UMR Forensic Society is a small organization , its members are developing a speech and debate squad that will travel across the state of Missouri to participate in forensic tournament s. Within a short amount of time, the speech and debate team will grow and be one of the most traveled of campus organization s. Though this organization is not well -known on campus, its officers ask that more Miners get behind the UMR Forensic Society and watch it grow to be one of the best squads in the state . M-Ciub is a service fraternity composed of varsity athletes. During the course of the year, besides encouraging the participation in varsity athletics, the organization carries out many projects. Every week, the club selects an athlete on campus who has excelled in his sport during the past week. For Homecoming, the club sells Homecoming buttons and sponsors a pep rally and bonfire. During the basketball season, M -Ciub handles the concessions and ushering at the games. In the spring, the club has two big projects, the Junior Olympics and the Sports Banquet.

The primary objective of the club is to promote good driving habits and automotive safety as well as keeping one informed as to new devel opments in the automotive industries. These goals are achieved by sponsoring rall ies and autocrosses, in which skill, safety, and coordination are stressed along with competition . Soccer Club The UMR Soccer Club was refounded in 1973. In 1974, the Soccer Club challenged big name varsity squads such as Florissant Valley, Meramac, Washington U., Harris Teacher's, Mo. Southern , Mizzou and others. A full seventeen game schedule was played in Fall '74 and a fifteen game schedule is planned for 1975.

Theatr e Guild The UMR Theatre Guild, a relatively young organi zation on campus, is in its fourth successful year. Th e purpose of the guild is to promote an interest in drama and in the theatrical arts on the UMR campus by presenting productions in the realm of the performing arts. University Chamber Choir

The highlight of the year for the University and Chamber Choirs, under the direction of Bruce Chamberlain, were the Madrigal Dinners, their contribution to university Christmas spirit. Patterned after actual medieval English Yuletide celebrations, the feast included wassail, roast beef, and flaming plumb pudding. It was all serenaded by the choir, in costume, through solos, sing a longs, and group selections of authentic Old English Christmas music. It is hoped the three night celebration will become an annual event and a UMR Christmas tradition.

Tau Beta Sigma

Tau Beta Sigma is a national service sorority for bandwomen to promote the role of the college band. It cosponsors with Kappa Kappa Psi an annual Jun ior High Band Clin ic and the District Music Festival. The Band Clinic brought in over 800 students from 27 schools. Tau Beta Sigma also co-sponsors socials and banquets for all UMR band members.

The Crescents of Lambda Chi Aplha are an auxiliary organization to promote spirit within the fraternity house. For the first time the organization had an actively participating intramural team. Among their other projects were monthly dinners, a Halloween party for area children, and supporting the fraternity for intramurals and philanthropic projects.

Daughters of Diana This year the Beta Eta Chapter of the Daughters of Diana were very busy. A few of their activities this year were a Halloween Party, followed by two house dances and a Big Brother-Little Sister pool tournament. Moneymaking projects this year were a raffle in the fall and a Spaghetti Dinner in the spring. They also helped the house with their St. Pat's float and the TKE First Annual Mid-America Softball Tournament and participated in the Greek games. Theta Tau, a national professional engineering fraternity, takes pride in the active support given by its brothers in working on the various campus and community projects. Among these are the publication of the Theta Tau calendar, the sale of Homecoming mums, selection of Freshman of the Year, and the "Ugly Man" campaign. For the second year, as part of the "Ugly Man" contest, Theta Tau sponsored Casino Night, with active support from students, faculty, and townspeople.

I.C.C. The Inter Co-op Council was founded in 1960 at the University of Missouri at Rolla with the purpose of promoting cooperation and mutual interest between the eating clubs and their members on this campus. As the coordinating organization for the three eating clubs on campus, the Inter Co-op Council represents nearly 500 students. ICC continually strives to make its member clubs more than just a "place to eat" . This year as in the past, ICC was a major force in the preparation and operation of Independen ts Weekend. Combining efforts with GDI and IWC, ICC helped greatly to again make this weekend a truly fine weekend for the independen ts . ICC also sponsored and helped with the many dances held by the eating clubs on the other party weekends throughout the year.

Tech Club enjoyed another good year in both Academics and Activities. 197475 proved to be an excellent year for Tech Club in the Intramural Race. Overall the club finished Third. Second and Third finishes in many of the sports gave Tech many points and also earned the Consolation Trophy for the club for having no first place finishes. Tech Club athlete of the year went to Ken Jinkerson for his participation in many of the intramural sports, but special mention must also be given to Jim "Bosco" Dudley for his participation in Tech Club sports. This year also proved to be very interesting with the merger of Engine Club and Tech Club and both clubs eating and sharing expenses at the Engine Club facilities . Next year both clubs will be known as Tech - Engine Club and will reside in the Engine Club facilities .

1974-75 was a year of successfu l innovatio ns by the Board of Governor s in making life more eventful for the MRHA. Many of the ideas and much of the energy emerged from President Steve Tillman . VicePresident Mike Mullens, Secretary Tom Rechtien, and Treasurer John Westerma yer formed the remainde r of the unified and totally dedicated executive board . Mr. Joe Ward served as Advisor for the MRHA for the sixth year. The Year was opened with a watermel on gettogether in the dorm quad. The quad was also the scene of several movie spectacul ars complete with free refreshme nts . Open to all MRHA and WRHA members ; it was probably the most successfu l and enjoyable innovatio n of the year . House A This year House "A" 's supreme endeavor is to reach our goal of a 3.50 house GPA. Along with this comes great responsibility which every member must share. We require constant study every third day there must be no night go by without someone pulling an 'all nighter' (especially on Friday or Saturday nights) . Along with this hectic pressure comes the need for relaxation. This consists of football, volleyball, basketball, watching Star Trek, giving blood (one way or another), and all night monopoly games. The upperclassmen have tried to impress upon the freshmen the necessity and applications of sound formulas in everyday life at UMR, such as the rules of St. Pat's.

House C . In the fine tradition of House 'C' as being highly public spirited, we helped our advisor, Dr. Sparlin, replace the dilapidated seats in the old Rolla High School. We pride ourselves in helping people. For the past five years, we have collected the most money for the Ugly Man Campaign. Rain or shine, you could find us on the street corners in Rolla. This year was no exception. We already are off to a real good start. With the school year half over, we stand second in interdorm sports competition, but are looking for our usual strong finish. We also furnish athletes for the many M .R.H .A. intramural sports.

From high atop Kelly Hall, the windows of HouseD command an aweinspiring view of the dormitory complex. The penthous e affords the resident sweeping vistas; the Quad Christma s lighting, the MRHA float, construct ion, and the lens of the projector during Social Committe e movies. In a more serious vein, House D has compiled an impressiv e academic as well as athletic record - first in interdorm athletics and second in MRHA grade point averages. When they aren't studying or working out, the men of House D settle down to their favorite activity - sitting in the hallway waiting for an Exit light, or in season, watching the Christma s tree lights blink. Rolla at times, can become just a tiny bit boring .

House 3, whether you catch them in a dilly mood or a truckin' mood, remains one of the most active houses in the MRHA. Steve Tillman, MRHA President, is the 5th president of the last 6 to hail from House 3. Governor Trent Parkhill has motivated the house to the painstaking task of creating a 1000 pound cudgel from a 40 foot high oak tree. Other officers are Jim Schaefer, Matt Willie, and Mark Barding . MRHA Treasurer, John Westermay er and Miner football star, Mike Keeler are House 3 members. Killer Keeler is the House 3 RA and a top notch RA at that. Ground Floor : with the touch of army ROTC, they use their muscle when House 3 repels 1OOfoot cliffs. First Floor : home of Gamma Pi (Brothers of the Eta Rho Alpha) boasts of self-organiz ed hall sports, polls, and government . Second Floor: where music, rugby, the Miner football star, and the prez abounds. Th ird Floor : the craziest and most energetic floor in the dorms; featuring a scenic lookout with binocular rentals . These four floors combine their individual characters into a moving house and a great place to live.

AH, House 4, what can you say about a place where the Existential Transmiration of human orifical bedoseness can smell so sweet. Yes, My friends, that and more is House 4, a place where social development goes hand in hand with scholarly education. In fact, some people socially develop right up to class time which makes strange class discussion. We play hard and work as little as possible. Yet our grades are good, yes, we are scholars of life. And we do not neglect the physical aspects of our mortal coils. We took all 5 events at the MRHA outing. Something none should overlook. Our consumption of brew is legendary, and the frequency of it is astounding to all who know us. Yes, this is 4, home ofthe smart, the free, the brave, and the drunk and dead dogs too.

This year has been one of a new look for House Five . With the vast majority of the members being either freshmen or transfer students, we introduced a whole new image . To start off with, House 5 came up with its highest standings ever in Football, Cross Country, and Basketball, and to accompany this, we also had the highest grade point average on campus for the fall, a 3.11. We are looking forward to more of the same for the 1975-76 school year.

The 1974-75 school year brought many new faces and changes to House 6. The entire house government changed hands and the new year brought many freshmen and transfer students. One outing was held in the fall with two more planned for spring. The house received a facelifting with the installation of new doors, carpet for the lounges, new furniture, and a copy machine. The prospect is for these improvements to continue with clocks, paintings, and plants to be added later in the year. It's been a pretty good year for House 6, RHA, and the future we of House 69 hope they can continue to improve.

House7 The men of House Seven of the MRHA have thoroughly enjoyed the 74-75 year at UMR. Some of the activities that the members of House Seven participated in include : intramural and interdorm athletics, Theta Tau's Ugly Man, St. Pat's, Independent's Weekend, and Warious MRHA activities . The highlight of the year for House Seven was the design and purchase of house shirts.

House 8 continues it's one -year tradition of unusual and varied activities. Among the printable ones, the MRHA outing was the beginn ing. House 7 was dragged through the mud of Lion's Park Pond in 8's triumph of the Holtmantug-a-war.House 8 entry to the six-pack chug came out also on top. The high point of the fall sports was the second-place standing captured in interdorm football, a feat unsurpassed in recent house 8 history. The victory celebration was wildly appropriate.

Later that semester, the house sponsored the First Annual UMR Arm Wrestling Contest, proceeds going to the Ugly Man Fund. During the semester the house made several trips to St. Louis to repair and refurbish day care centers in the area for Gamma Alpha Delta projects. In the Spring semester the house established a Little Sisters Chapter, initiating a dozen lovely lad ies as Chapter members . And the year closed up with the Delta Sig bowlers, led by Darrell Robinson and Roger Senft, overpowering their opponents to take first place for the semester and the year in the IFC Bowling League.

This year Delta Tau Delta participated in the annuaiiFC Fall Clean-up, held our own third annual Christmas canned goods drive for the needy families in this area, and participated with a non-float entry in the St. Pat's Parade, collecting over $300 in the process for Shamrocks against Dystrophy. Next year we hope to do even better.

Kappa Alpha retained its wrestling dynasty this year by capturing its 8th crown in 8 years. Along with wrestling, K.A. also won swimming and tennis and finished strong in golf, horseshoes , bowling, ping-pong, softba ll, and football. But intramurals isn't all that happened this year. Academics placed K.A. in the upper half of all the greeks. Also the Beta Alpha chapter's Cliff Mahar was the I.F.C. president and Greek God. K.A.'s also helped re -open the Rolla-U-Cen ter and participated in two Gamma Alpha Delta work projects as well as the Cancer Crusade. Overall its been a very good year for K.A.

Installed in October of 1972, Kappa Delta has been on the UMR campus only two and a half years. This is our second year as a living unit in the house at 1301 Elm . Though our numbers are small, we took active part in a variety of campus activities. We participated in almost every intramural sport, particularly the team sports, with enthusiastic support. Our pledges designed and built our Homecoming display, " The Computer That Wore Tennis Shoes. " We served as hostesses ..... .

. . . . .for University Day and held an open house for Parents Day. After much practice, our chorus won first place in the IFC sing for "Let There Be Peace on Earth ." We finished the semester with our annual caroling party to other Greek houses and the Foster Children's Family Unity Day, sponsored jointly with Wesley Foundation . The spring semester brought a visit from a national officer, a dinner at the home of our faculty advisor, and of course our Spring Formal.

The school year 1974-75 proved to be very successful and rewarding for Kappa Sigma. Again we placed well in Intramural Sports as indicated by our capture of the football cham pionship. Continuing tradition, social function at Kappa Sigma were numerous and basically a good time. The acquisition of a superb freshman class will almost make up for the loss of our fourteen brothers who graduated this past year.

The Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity has had a very remarkable 1974-75 school year. We've had an active social life as well as a year full of commmunity service. Our annual Halloween and Christmas parties came off with the usual success while the children from State School #23 went off with gifts and happy memories. The second semester began as the chapter witnessed the initiation of 13 fine men into the fraternity . A bus trip to a I. S. U. basketball tournament was also part of the early calendar for 1975 . Again, our social life was not lacking as we celebrated St. Pat's and Greek Week in style. We were glad to welcome many alumni as they came back to party with us. At the end of the school year, we gave the 13th annual benefit chicken dinner from which we were able to give approximately $500 to each of two charities .

The brothers of Sigma Nu had a good year. They started by getting a pledge class of 30 men and retiring the IFC scholarship trophy. They came in in the top 5 in intramurals by winning several small sports and taking intramural softball. They stayed active in campus events, presenting "Mammy" at the IFC Sing and building a float for the St. Pat's Parade named "Beanie and Cecil".

Tau Kappa Epsilon

The fraters of the Tau Kappa Epsilon took great strides in improving the chapter during the 1974-75 school year. The most notable item was the destruction of the old house. The old house had served as a recreation area and a living quarter since TKE's beginnings in Rolla in 1947. As far back as 1905, KA had lived in the house. A great deal of tradition was tied up in the old house. To remember some of this tradition, the entire chapter participated in a project to build a patio from the bricks of the old house . Teke also made a very respectable showing in campus activities during the year . Teke won the intramural championship. A first place finish in volleyball coupled with high showings in football, basketball, soccer, crosscountry, and wrestling placed TKE well ahead of the pack. In addition to athletics, Teke's also demonstrated their artistic talent as they finished second in the homecoming display competition and third in the St. Pat 's float contest. Tekes also are looking forward to defending their Greek Week crown. With the construction of a new house, Tau Kappa Epsilon will continue to be one of the campus leaders.

Triangle Fraternity, a brotherhood of engineers, architects, and scientists, is proud of its achievements this past year. Its membership is expanding and growing and will be accommodated an annex next door. We participated in two Gamma Alpha Delta sponsored work projects to assist the needy in the St. Louis area. Being a combination social and professional organization, we participated in judging the Science and Engineering Fair here and presented a plaque . With these few highlights in mind, Triangle is looking forward to even better years to come .

Involvement in the offices of student organizations on the UMR campus has been extremely rewarding. The atmosphere surrounding such extracurricular responSibilities is similar to that found in industry, and has provided very much valuable experience which will be helpful throughout my life. The importance of this experience became especially apparent during my co-op work periods. The key word to happiness is involvement. It's not only an outlet for excess energy but also an opportunity to grow. And UMR offers unique chances for such involvement. For such a small college, we have a wide variety of active organizations where a person can be more than just a face in the crowd. Engineers and scientists have a tendency to isolate themselves, and it begins in college. After four or five years, they emerge intellectually mature but emotionally and spiritually a child. Editor's Note The 1975 Rollamo is a pictorial essay of the year the students here at UMR created . We on the Rollamo staff sincerely hope that we have captured every activity that occurred and have given credit to every organization on campus that contributed to the 1974-75 school year . If we have not, we are sorry, but we tried. I am extremely thankful to a few people without whom this yearbook would not be what it is. Dr. Lance Williams, who has been our advisor for several years, was very helpful in every aspect of the yearbook organization . I would especially like to thank him for his continued help when the work extended into the summer months. Thanks to Paul Coram for his help on the cover and for his new ideas, including the special effects. Thanks also to Ben Shipman who answered a lot of questions on the mechanics of laying out the book. And again we wish it to be known that without the help of Ernest Gutierrez, University Photograph er, a lot of the pictures in this book would not be there. I would like to thank all of those editors who stuck with their sections throughout the year and did them excellently. This includes Paula Marcellus, Mike DiNapoli, Mark Dolecki , and Kathy Veit . Unfortunate ly, four editors stepped down from their sections and others had to pick up their sections . Special thanks to Nic Neumann for taking the task of Living Units, and Craig Korkoian for taking Activities. They both did excellent jobs. The Sports section was left by the editor during finals week and I personally took it up. I am sorry that there is not more copy but it was just too late to attain it. Thanks to the coaches and Joanne in the Athletic Office for getting me what they could . I owe a great deal to th e photograph ic staff for a job w e ll done . Speci al thanks goes toNic Neumann for making sure that all the events were covered and to Mark Lorenz for doing most of the special effects. I am extremely grateful for having had the chance to be the editor of the Rollamo . It has been a challenging but a rewarding experience and I learned a lot. Thank you.
