Kurlann Bradshaw is “ICY” in the new VVF series, Superheroes Thursday, May 19, 2022 By LESLEY HAYLES

Kurlann Bradshaw was born in Morvant Laventille, Trinidad and Tobago on January 17, 1999 until moving to Arima, Malabar when she was 13. She attended the Corpus Christi College and University of the West Indies (UWI). Bradshaw is a full time creative and hairstylist but has wanted to be an actress all her life. However, her interest for acting peaked around the age of 15. Back then, she created lip syncing videos on Musical.ly, which is now known as TikTok, and people would always leave encouraging comments, such as “you’re so funny...your facial expressions are so good...you should be an actress...” and so forth.

But “even though I knew I wanted to be an actress I didn’t think it was possible or realistic at the time, having little to no info on the entertainment industry,” Bradshaw stated. Moreover, Theatre Arts was not offered at her secondary school so she went ahead to further her education in Communication Studies because Bradshaw also wanted to be a broadcast journalist, since she always loved being on camera. When she signed up for classes at UWI, that’s when she was introduced to Theatre Arts and had taken some courses during her first year before eventually adding it as a minor, where she got her first set of acting experiences.

Officially, Bradshaw started pursuing acting in 2019. She took part in an international competition in Hollywood called WCOPA where she represented Trinidad and Tobago alongside the Candice Clarke Academy International. She danced, modeled and acted. Her acting journey really began as the opportunity came along to meet agents, managers and notable actors. That experience allowed her to realize that it was very possible to become an actress and that acting is an actual career, not just a hobby as some will say. To see acting as a career was what drove her to become an actress which is different from a typical career choice. However, she states that she didn’t really choose acting but rather acting chose her and she accepted the call.

Tyler Perry has been her main influence growing up, along with the goal to one day act in one of Tyler Perry’s movies or TV shows. Viola Davis is also one she looks up to, not only as an actress but as a woman who is a living example of black excellence. Another goal is to act alongside her in a movie one day. Aside from these talented actors, Bradshaw is hoping to work with Keke Palmer and Tiffany Haddish in the future. She draws inspiration from them and the dream of working with them daily.

Bradshaw’s first acting gig was with Urban Jungle Entertainment. She got discovered through word of mouth when someone told another person about her interest in acting, who then told someone else who eventually got her the gig. Other than Urban Jungle Entertainment, she has worked with GT Network and UWI’s DCFA school program. Her preferred genres and roles are in drama, family, comedy and thrillers.

The talented actress is now venturing into a little bit of screen writing and trusting the process. Bradshaw is also trying her hand at directing and maybe editing, to fully understand other aspects that contribute to any acting process or finished product while creating her own acting opportunities and building her portfolio. The mindset now being, “we can’t always sit and wait for an opportunity to come knocking, it’s good to create your own too.”

Currently, Bradshaw is portraying a character named “Icy” in a new limited series from Ville Ventures Universe called Superheroes. On September 6, 2022 it will be premiering on GT Network. She loves working alongside the director, Ancil Harris. She has stated that Harris is “very passionate and determined and such energy is always felt on set. He’s literally a pillar of support in my acting journey. He pushes me into my full potential. Time to time he will even send acting videos to help me develop my skill and his words of encouragement always come at the right time. Also, when you work with Ancil you don’t just come on set and act. He further introduces you to different avenues & opportunities. He is one that wants to see everyone win!”

To get into character, Bradshaw usually starts with a backstory on what drives her character. It helps to figure out how they think, walk, talk, etc. On set, she zones out of reality and gets into her character’s reality, understanding what is happening in the moment and what is her character’s intent or purpose in the role.

Within the next 5 years, Bradshaw sees herself as a very skilled, knowledgeable, diverse, notably working and reoccurring actress being seen in different movies and TV shows. Outside of acting, she is hoping to be able to provide homes and safe spaces for girls and youths that are underprivileged, abused and neglected. “I want to build a creative, educational, spiritual and holistic foundation for many,” she said.

Her message to other upcoming actresses like herself is to: firstly, trust God and trust the process. Secondly, go brave! You have to renew your mind daily because if we allow it to, fear will inveigle your mind and blur your vision. Thirdly, don’t worry about what you don’t have but instead find a way to utilize and work with what you have and build yourself gradually. And lastly, don’t hold back. Present yourself to the world! We rarely have excuses especially living a social media era. You can become what your heart desires once you have faith, discipline and will power.

She’s been receiving mostly positive feedback as people tend to remind her often that she’s a star in the making with great potential. Only a few naysayers think that she’s delusional and unambitious for pursuing an acting career but this won’t stop her from pushing towards her goals.

Bradshaw was signed to C&C management, an agency based in Atlanta and Hollywood but due to COVID and travel restrictions, it hindered the process of moving forward so she took a break from auditioning but she adamantly says that she’ll be back with them very soon. Meanwhile, she’s staying focused on her new role as Icy in Superheroes.

Posh Morris & Bramma chasing that “Paper” with Samiranks Music Thursday, May 19, 2022 By LESLEY HAYLES Who is Posh Morris? A singer? A singjay? A deejay? From Dancehall to Reggae to Rap, Posh Morris, given name Jeanette Morris, is an artiste that does all of the above and is as versatile as they come. This creative individual who works continuously to increase the chances of being accomplished has never taken a break from music. Her tireless efforts are the reasons why several renowned artistes and all of her fans have said on numerous occasions that she’s the best female artiste in Jamaica! Posh is proud of these compliments but is not one to get sidetracked by all the attention and basked in premature success. Posh is driven, witty and has been told that she’s an experience!

The artiste known for her lyrical prowess started pursuing music at an early age singing on the church choir and entering several Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) competitions where she has won several awards. Being further influenced by the likes of dominant female artistes Diana King, Lauryn Hill, Lady Saw & Cecile as well as Aidonia, a hardcore male Dancehall artiste, all helped shape the artiste Posh is today. With a plethora of singles under her belt, Posh’s music has created a major media impact for her locally and internationally. Now on the promotional trail as she aims to target several new markets with new materials, the latest being “Paper”, a track that was done in collaboration with Dancehall/Reggae hit maker, Bramma.

The producer is Sami Ranks from the label Samiranks Music and was distributed by Johnny Wonder. It became available on all digital platforms since Friday, May 6, 2022. Posh has worked with Sami Ranks on numerous occasions but most recently on the song “Cerasee” which was released in 2021. Sami Ranks asked her producer, DJ Frankco, to build a beat and upon completion, Posh immediately came up with the punch line. Along with this idea for the song, Posh wrote it with the intent of getting a feature. She immediately thought Bramma would be a great fit so after writing and recording her parts, Posh told Sami Ranks that she’s going to ask Bramma for a verse and she did! Sami Ranks agreed and said that he has always wanted to work with Bramma as well. It was a great vibe as both artistes were long time friends. Bramma wrote his verse and went to her studio, Ovation Lab, to record it. DJ Frankco engineered the session and all in attendance knew right away it was a sure hit! Bramma’s verse complemented what Posh had already written and everyone loved it. The feeling in the studio during the whole recording process was excellent. When you have three creative persons in one room, that is the ultimate vibe. The more creatives the merrier. According to Posh, “pure excitement and positive energy was in the midst of us.” A video was shot for “Paper” in one of the most historic locations in Jamaica, Port Royal. Other parts were shot in the luxurious and cool Red Hills, St Andrew. The video was released on the same day as the song was made available digitally worldwide. The feedback so far has been great, receiving airplay on local radio stations with the video being featured on multiple platforms as well. Some people have also noted that they love the fact that an accomplished artiste like Bramma did a collaboration with a younger generation, new female artiste. “I also want to hail my fans the ‘Top Tier Nation’ for continuously supporting brand Posh Morris. It was their belief in me which help me propelled even more so during the pandemic.” It is this support that Posh uses as motivation to work even harder to put out great music and keep her fans on their toes. Her aim is to reach an international level and wants to be remembered for her versatility and stamina on every global stage. Keep up with Posh Morris via social media: www.twitter.com/PoshMorris www.instagram.com/PoshMorris www.facebook.com/PoshMorrisja

Jinyus Assures Women They Are “Perfect” Just The Way They Are Monday, March 28, 2022 By LESLEY HAYLES

On the heels of success of his last EP, Yuh Zimi, Jinyus is now promoting a second single from the EP, a song called “Perfect”. Produced by KwanKussion Records and KLJ Production, the song itself encourages females to love and be themselves the way they are naturally.

In a time where women feel the need for additions, make-up, and to “do up” themselves with surgery being the norm now, “Perfect” is saying that all that is not necessary. The message behind the song, the production and the whole coming-together of it has Jinyus believing that a song like this is needed in these frenzied days.

“Self-love is needed at a time like now. Ladies don’t have to try to fix up themselves to please anyone or seek any validation from anyone and if they are fixing up themselves, it [should be] for pleasing themselves, to make themselves feel good but they don’t need it. They are “Perfect”! And God made them “Perfect” the way they are,” Jinyus explained.

It’s a nice song with a nice message, “Perfect” is everyone’s favorite track from the EP. The Yuh Zimi EP features 2 Reggae tracks, 2 Dancehall and then “Perfect” for the ladies ties everything together. It almost didn’t make the cut either as Kwan from KwanKussion Records and Jinyus himself spent time on the track, going back and forth on what it should sound like and voicing it 3 times before settling on the final product. It definitely wasn’t rushed, making “Perfect” perfect!

The Biography of Reggae Artiste, Insane Tuesday, March 8, 2022 By LESLEY HAYLES Dancehall-Reggae recording artiste, Insane, was born Marlon Gabbidon in Jamaica, and raised in the Kingston community of Melbrook Heights in Harbour View on January 16, attending the St. Benedict’s Primary and Donald Quarrie High Schools. At a very tender age, Insane realized his passion for music and it was this love that drove him to become an artiste and started pursing music, with supportive parents and other family members who are musicians but never made it career-wise.

Insane grew up under the influences of Ninja Man, Shabba Ranks and Bounty Killer but is musically inspired by the legendary Bob Marley. Since 1992, Insane began recording, his first being “Mi Affi Pray”, a cultural song that was never released and acquiring the stage name based on his ability to execute a crazy performance on stage. Insane became a member of the PMU and Bussout Crews, alongside English, Blemo Blemz, Yung Matic, Mr. Bonus and Stingah Tee. The group could be found hanging around the Mad English Production, Caidiac Productions and Jahmari Records studios. After migrating in 1996, Insane put his music career on hold to become a commercial truck driver. Like moth to a flame, Insane inevitably returned to music and in June 2010 was finally able to not only have an official release but also a music Insane recorded on the Lipstick Riddim, a song called “Miss You Baby”, which was produced by fellow recording artiste and crew member, English Di Riddim Scientist, a collaboration between his label English Di Riddim Scientist Records and Caidiac Productions. A medley video was shot and released on Jamaican TV stations, which also featured the internationally renowned duo Tanto Metro & Devonte. The group had also performed on Best Of The Best that same year and even attracted the attention of Hip-Hop mogul, Russell Simmons, who wanted to sign them but due to contractual obligations, the deal fell through.

While not popular as a solo artiste yet, Insane has done great things during his time as part of the Bussout Crew, working with producers and labels such as Mad English, Jahmari Records, Troyton Rami and Devante of Tanto Metro & Devonte, Stephen Di Genius, among others. Bussout Crew had recorded songs on the Outbreak Riddim, “Mi A Hustle My Money Hard” on the Be Rich Riddim and featured on songs like “Check Out Mi New iPhone” and “Drinks In My Cup”. However, since 2021, Insane has embarked on a different musical path with a new team in tow. Working under his own label, Bussout Label LLC Production, releasing “Gangsta Nuh Pree Man” on March 4th so far with other singles to come. Insane is also looking forward to completing an album.

If there’s ever a chance to work with popular artistes from all genres of music and top producer, DJ Khaled, Insane would take the opportunity in a heartbeat and is hoping to become a well known artiste by the time 2027 rolls around. His message to others like himself is to stay positive, focused, humble and be hardworking and dedicated to your music. With all the good comments and reviews he’s been receiving thus far, Insane could very well be on his way to major stardom.

His manager is also his nephew in the US, alongside Lesley Hayles in Jamaica but his team is the newly formed American PR company, Ejor Media Group.
