INTRODUCTION Hey CNH KIWIN' S! With District Convention rapidly approaching, w e are all realizing the year is slow ly coming to an end. Our seniors are grow ing into our next graduates, our underclassmen are grow ing into our next leaders, and our middle schoolers are grow ing into our next members. With so much change happening, w e need a new set of student-leaders to guide our organization. Running for a position, w hether it is for a club board, divisional board, District Board, or even International Board, is most certainly an unforgettable experience. Not only w ill you discover more about yourself, but also about the support you have around you that w ill alw ays be there to help you along the w ay. Regardless of the results, remember that you are important to this organization. Without you, CNH KIWIN' S w ould never grow - w e w ould cease to exist. CAM PAIGN M ANAGER Campaign M anager: person who will give a short speech (1 minute) at conclave / caucus as an introduction to your campaign; usually a close friend and/or trusted board member * * must be CNH KIWIN'S paid member* * When looking, find someone w ho can: - Leave a good impression. The campaign manager is the first exposure you have to your members, so make sure they set the stage w ell for you to deliver your ow n speech. - Be reliable. Your campaign manager must give their speech before yours for you to run, so they must be able to attend all mandatory events. - Be a companion. Because they give their speech before yours, they w ill be w aiting w ith you before your caucus, after your caucus, and everyw here in betw een. Find someone you trust.

WHAT SHOULD YOU INCLUDE IN YOUR SPEECH?

Why do you w ant to run for this position? Why are you capable or the best candidate? What are your goals for the upcoming year? Why are you passionate about KIWIN' S?
- Be specific. Address your goals, but focus more on how you' ll achieve them during your term. - Be honest. You' ll feel more comfortable and your members w ill trust you to fulfill your promises.
PUBLIC SPEAKING TIPS If eye contact intimidates you, try looking at people' s noses, eyebrow s, or even the w all behind their head! It looks like you' re making eye contact, but its more comfortable than looking at them in the eyes!
Speak from your heart, not a script. Instead of reciting a stiff speech w ord for w ord, try making an outline or list of Breathe. Relax. M uch easier said ideas. This w ill than done, definitely easier after help you speak it is done, but still absolutely freely and show essential. We are an ohana and the raw there is nothing to be scared of. enthusiasm and You are fully capable. passion you feel! Project your voice! Speak w ith conviction, connect w ith the audience.
Practice, practice, practice! Say your speech in the show er and in the car. Get comfortable w ith your voice.

FRIDAY - CAUCUS SPEECHES AND NOM INATING CONFERENCE: BUSINESS CASUAL - blouse & skirt or pants, blazer & dress - dress shirt & pants, tie or bow tie SATURDAY - M EET & GREET, LUNCH & 2 ND GENERAL SESSION, AND HOUSE OF DELEGATES: BUSINESS FORM AL - similar to Friday attire, but more professional - blazers, ties / bow ties highly recommended SUNDAY - CLOSING SESSION AND FIRST DISTRICT BOARD M EETING: BUSINESS FORM AL - only if you are elected for the position
FINAL TIPS M AKING A GOOD IM PRESSION
As a board member, you w ill be expected to be a role model. You w ill live in a glass house - in other w ords, your actions w ill be seen by everyone. - Alw ays be polite. It goes w ithout saying, but you should alw ays be treating others w ith the utmost respect, especially candidates running against you. After all, w e are an ohana! - Reach out. Introduce yourself to others, don' t be afraid to ask questions, let yourself be curious. You' ll stand out, learn from others, and give people the chance to learn about you. - Breathe and relax! I can' t emphasize enough how important it is that you become calm. When you' re comfortable, you' ll be able to speak freely and express all the love you have for our organization.
