The Prez’s Corner .......

Wow……where did January go?? I wish everyone a good February and hope you have not been affected by the storms and flooding. I know some members who have damage and hope they can get things rectified smoothly and quickly.

The recent Longbranch Saloon tour and lunch was a huge success! We had more cars and members participate in this event than any other event aside from the New Member BBQ!! It was marvelous seeing all the Porsches lined up at Porsche San Luis Obispo waiting to depart. Thanks to the staff at Porsche SLO for providing coffee and pastries and a great atmosphere!!

I participated in the Zone 8 Presidents Meetings on January 21st in Riverside, CA. It was good to meet all the Presidents of other regions, our Zone 8 Representative, Lori DeCristo, and Todd Benz the PCA National Secretary. Detailed discussions were had regarding the Porsche Parade being held within our Zone, insurance and liability, and rules for track events, as well as issues facing all Regions such as member participation and inter-regional collaborations. These meetings culminated with the annual Zone 8 Awards Banquet on Saturday evening.

The final and most prestigious award presented at the Banquet is for Zone 8 Enthusiast of the Year, and I am thrilled to say that it was presented to California Central Coast’s own Alfred Abken!!! No one in our region or Zone participates in more PCA and automotive related events than Alfred. Details and pictures of Alfred and his award can be found further along in this issue of the Coastalaire!

I asked the assembled Presidents if any of their regions were doing four-wheel oriented events for Cayennes and Macans. Everyone was enthusiastic about the idea but no one had really set anything up just yet. Your CCCR Board discussed this at our meeting this week, and we think it could be a fun thing to try. Drop me an email if you think driving over High Mountain Road from Arroyo Grande to Pozo (or vice versa) would interest you. Obviously, we would wait until after the rains start to subside!

February 28th, CCCR is going back to Scotts Valley California, to visit the amazing collection at Canepa Motorsports. If you missed this event last year, make sure you register when the MSR is posted. It is a collection not to be missed!

Phase I registration is open now for the June 18-24, 2023 Porsche Parade at the La Quinta Resort in the Palm Springs area. If you plan on attending, please register sooner than later so you can secure a hotel room at the resort. Actual event signups are not until April but you need to secure your general Parade registration and hotel. The Parade website, https://www.porscheparade.org/, has all the details.

Hope to see you at an event soon!

Let’s Drive!,
