Alpamayo coordinated 13 tons of donations to help in Piura Due to the state of emergency that Peru suffered because of the meteorological phenomenon called “El Niño Costero” that left more than 100,000 victims; Alpamayo School answered with a deep sense of solidarity to the calling of the campaign “Todos Somos Piura”. The school became a receptive site to gather donations that later would be sent to Piura which was the most devastated region with more than 15,000 victims and 43,000 damaged houses. The school organized very quickly, providing storage spaces and logistics to receive the donations with the help of our students, teachers, and administrative workers who worked intensively in the selection and packing of the donations. All our school community came to help by donating food, water, medicines, among many things, which gave proof that solidarity is one of our institutional values.

We started giving 800 kilos of food, 150 liter of water, 100 kilos of sugar, 100 kilos of different articles and rubber boots. In the following days, the volume of donations grew dramatically.

Our participation finished on April 21st with our last delivery of 6 tons of donations, reaching to a total of 13 tons of help delivered to Piura.

Six private companies, 3 neighbor schools and more than 20 neighbors cooperated with donations that surpassed 3 tons.
