For this 2019 edition, it’s Albert Watson, Scottish photographer of recognized international fame, who, through his vision and beautiful images, narrates four mini-chronicles captured in a cinematic style. Four women with dreams and ambitions. Their lives are seen through the expressive power of Albert Watson’s lens who, through a great emotional charge, expresses both the victories and defeats these women encounter during their journey towards reaching their expectations. Model Gigi Hadid, model and actress Laetitia Casta, actress Julia Garner, and dancer Misty Copeland, are the stars of THE CAL 2019.

Between Miami and New York, it tells the story of the various journeys taken by these women and their partners while they seek their dreams. Four days, four stories. Gigi Hadid plays a rich heiress, a successful woman who feels incomplete. Her house is her refuge. Her best friend and confidant is designer Alexander Wang. Laetitia Casta is a painter who dreams of a future as a great artist, looking for success but full of doubts.

She lives in an eccentric loft with her boyfriend, dancer Sergei Polunin, who offers her his continuous support. Julia Garner plays the role of a photographer who takes portraits of rare plants in a botanical garden, chasing her dream of success.

With her is Astrid Eika in the role of model. Misty Copeland is a dancer who, for a living, performs in a strip club, dreaming of becoming an étoile of the Paris Opera Ballet. A dream she shares with her boyfriend, interpreted by Royal III, with whom she lives in a small art deco house. These are all narratives and images destined to become a testament to our era.

Per questa edizione 2019 è stato Albert Watson, fotografo scozzese di riconosciuto successo internazionale che, attraverso la sua visione e le bellissime immagini, ha narrato, seguendo un copione da set cinematografico, quattro storie. Quattro donne con i loro sogni e le loro ambizioni, le loro vite sono viste attraverso la forza espressiva degli scatti di Albert Watson che trasmettono con grande carica emotiva le vittorie, ma anche le sconfitte, con le quali si scontrano per raggiunere le proprie aspettative. La modella Gigi Hadid, la modella e attrice Laetitia Casta, l’attrice Julia Garner e la ballerina Misty Copeland, sono le protagoniste di THE CAL 2019.

Tra Miami e New York si snodano i percorsi dei diversi viaggi di queste donne e dei loro partner alla ricerca dei propri sogni: quattro giorni per quattro racconti. Gigi Hadid interpreta una ricca ereditiera, donna di successo che si sente incompleta, la casa è il suo rifugio. Il suo miglior amico e confidente è lo stilista Alexander Wang. Laetitia Casta è una pittrice che sogna un futuro da grande artista, alla ricerca del successo ma piena di dubbi. Vive in un eccentrico loft col fidanzato, il ballerino Sergei Polunin che le offre continuo sostegno. Julia Garner interpreta il ruolo di una fotografa che riprende ritratti di piante rare in un giardino botanico, inseguendo il suo sogno di successo, accanto a lei Astrid Eika, nel ruolo di modella. Misty Copeland è una ballerina che per vivere si esibisce in uno strip-club, sognando di diventare étoile del Balletto dell’Opera di Parigi. Sogno condiviso con il fidanzato, interpetato da Royal III, col quale abita in una piccola casa art déco. Majestic Moscow and its grandiose, 5-day event held in midOctober dedicated to fashion. Actually, three events in one: Moscow Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, FUTURUM Moscow, and POP-UP Shop. From celebrating timeless glamour, to increasingly more teen-oriented sportswear references, affirming one’s identity is still the main goal. With great enthusiasm from its founder, Alexander Schumsky, Moscow Mercedes Benz Fashion Week featured 175 international designers, both established and newcomers, who presented their collectiosn for Spring/Summer 2019 at the Manege in the area of the Red Square. Yasya Minochkina, Igor Gulyaev, Bella Potemkina, KETIone, Dokuchaeva, 21DOT12, Arut Mscw, Nvidia x SNEZHANA.NYС, Alena Akhmadullina - who showed at the Museum of Moscow, and Alexander Arutyunov who showed at the Museum of Fashion - Gostiny Dvor, and many others were all present. World premiere also for the I-INCLUSIVE showcase created by Ksenia Bezuglova, a project as ambitious as it was extraordinary that demonstrated through fashion how implementing Artificial Intelligence can be indispensable for people with disabilities. For the first time ever, designers presented their futuristic concepts developed in collaboration with top Russian research centers and with Paralympics champions as models on the runways. The initiative involved designers such as Mikhail Labakhua, founder of the 21shop network of fashion stores and of the streetwear brand, Zaporojec, Alexander Yurchenko, Kian Gerowgan, Asceto Brand, Tanya Voroshilova - defined as a fashion artisan - and Sveta Kozinova & Mark Alex.

Mosca maestosa, e grandioso il suo appuntamento dedicato alla moda, svoltosi a metà ottobre e durato cinque giorni. Tre eventi in uno: la Moscow Mercedes Benz fashion week, FUTURUM Moscow, POP-UP Shop. Dalla celebrazione di un glamour senza tempo ad accenni sportswear sempre più teenager oriented, l’affermazione di un’identità rimane comunque il goal principale. La manifestazione, con grande entusiasmo da parte del suo fondatore Alexander Schumsky, ha visto protagonisti ben 175 designer non solo nazionali, affermati e newcomers, presentare le loro nuove collezioni della p/e 2019 presso il Manege in zona Piazza Rossa: Yasya Minochkina, Igor Gulyaev, Bella Potemkina, KETIone, Dokuchaeva, 21DOT12, Arut Mscw, Nvidia x SNEZHANA.NYС, Alena Akhmadullina che ha sfilato al Museum of Moscow e Alexander Arutyunov al Museum of Fashion Gostiny Dvor e molti altri.

Debutto mondiale alla MBFW anche dello showcase chiamato I-INCLUSIVE ideato da Ksenia Bezuglova, progetto tanto ambizioso quanto straordinario che vuol dimostrare quanto può fare l’applicazione dell’intelligenza artificiale a strumenti indispensabili per persone diversamente abili, attraverso la moda. Per la prima volta in assoluto gli stilisti hanno presentato i loro concetti futuristici sviluppati in collaborazione con i principali centri di ricerca russi, i cui modelli in passerella sono stati i campioni delle Paraolimpiadi. BURBERRY Having left Givenchy, Riccardo Tisci debuts as the creative director for Burberry. His is a vision of a modern and progressive fashion trend that could only revolutionize the brand, starting from its logo, created with Peter Saville, and from its trench, with an added feminine touch. The brand’s iconic style is revisited for a cutting-edge look. Photographic prints, neutral tones in a thousand shades, passion red, also in a glossy version for patent leather, and numerous influences from the world of sports.

Un debutto per Riccardo Tisci che, lasciata la maison Givenchy, è ora alla guida creativa di Burberry. La sua è una visione della moda moderna e progressista che non poteva che rivoluzionare il marchio, a partire dal logo, realizzato in collaborazione con Peter Saville, e dal trench, reso più femminile. Many premises and an infinite number of expectations for the most anticipated fashion show at Paris fashion week because what Hedi Slimane touches turns into gold. But the topic that was most contemplated was the expressive intention that he gave the brand: between the recognizable and winning style established by Phoebe Philo and the unmistakable Parisian rock’n’roll touch of the designer.

This being said, Hedi Slimane, chose to do what he does best as he debuted for Celine, imparting a new identity to the Maison and focusing on a collection that can be defined as the representation of the essence of his style, made of bad girl slim and super sexy silhouettes, with allusions to the music scene of the ‘70s, and an injection of decadent and sophisticated glamour. Tailor-made suits with a masculine feel, stage diving mini dresses studded with sequins and crystals, and leather jackets and bombers. Everything shouts Slimane.

Ma l’argomento sul quale più si è speculato è stato l’intento stilistico che il creativo avrebbe dato al brand, tra lo stile riconoscibile e vincente impostato da Phoebe Philo e l’inconfondibile tocco rock’n’roll parigino del designer. Detto fatto, Slimane, al debutto da Celine, ha scelto di fare ciò che sa fare meglio, dando una nuova identità alla Maison e concentrandosi su una collezione definibile come la rappresentazione dell’essenza del suo stile, fatta di silhouette skinny e super sexy, da bad girl, con riferimenti al panorama musicale degli anni ’70 e un’uniezione di glamour decadente e sofisticato. Completi sartoriali dal sapore maschile, abitini da stage diving tempestati di paillettes e cristalli, giacche e bomber in pelle: tutto grida Slimane.

Il lettering del logo diventa macro e si staglia su un intenso blu che ne fornisce un effetto di tridimensionalità, inserendosi in una collezione resort dalla forte personalità, che esalta la femminilità senza costrizioni, ma anzi lasciando totale libertà di mescolare stili differenti, in un caleidoscopico melting pot di linguaggi differenti.

Diversità è dunque la parola chiave, intesa come sovrapposizione di idee in perfetta armonia. Pattern floreali, stampe foulard, grafismi esotici e cromie vivaci decretano la contemporaneità di un atteggiamento disinvolto verso la moda.
