Emma Markland Webster (New Zealand) Emma is a great advisor for Coffee Power Championship since its establishment and her guidance in managing the championship is Britishvaluable.born

Emma moved to New Zealand in the late 1990s with her husband and there started another love affair, this time with coffee. In 2001 she became New Zealand’s first official Barista Champion and has been leading the charge on barista events in that country ever Assince.an owner of the New Zealand School of Coffee a certified SCAA Lab as well as a boutique coffee company, Q grader, Sales Rep for leading equipment brands and Event Manager for the New Zealand Specialty Coffee Association - Emma wears many hats! She enjoys using her years of experience as a WBC Certified judge to now mentor and train new judges. Best experiences so far? How the coffee profession is becoming more and more celebrated, how many more barista disciplines are recognised, and how many different people she’s met and friends she’s made on the way. Kammie Hui (Hong Kong) Currently work in 18GRAMS as training manager for 7 years, roaster for 3 years and 13 years solid experience in both F&B coffee industry. Focusing on training, consultancy work, quality control and menu development in HK & overseas. As to be a part within the World Coffee Events & some international and local coffee or beer competition judging panel since 2012. She has been one of the advisors and head judges of Coffee Power Championship since 2013.

Jacky Lai (Taiwan) Jacky crowned as the Champion in 2014 World Coffee Roasting Championship after he won the Champion of 2014 World Coffee Roasting (Taiwan National) Championship. Jacky is the CQI Q-grader, Cupping Judge of Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) and Authorized Trainer of Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE). Jacky is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of COACHEF Café, the owner of Café Wakeup & Oh!CAFE in Taiwan. Bora Lee (Korea) Bora works actively to be judges in Korea, Malaysia and World Coffee Event since 2013. She has been Sensory Judge of Korea National Barista Championship from 2013-2014, with her rich experience in judging and being authorized as the Head Judge of 2015 and 2016 Korea National Barista Championship. She is also Certified Visual Judge of 2016 World Latte Art Championship and Certified Sensory Judge of World Barista Championship.

Kim Jin Kyu is the Group Vice President of Mellower Coffee (China) and founder of Mellower Korea. Kim is the most influential coffee champion in Korea, he won four champions since 2010, which includes Champion of 2010 BGBC Barista Championship, 2011 Korea National Latte Art Championship, 2013 Korea National Barista Championship and 2013 Fushan Cup International Barista Championship. He also got his world ranking in 2011 World Latte Art Championship (4th Place) and 2013 World Barista Championship (8th Place).

Keith Fong (Macau) Keith is the founder of Blooom Coffee House. Several bloggers has described that the café culture in Macau was blossomed at Blooom, which provide full service in coffee industry from local roasted bean, coffee education and running leading specialty coffee education in Macau.

Junghyeok is SCAA CQI Q-grader, R-grader and the first SCAA Lab Inspector in Korea. He is also the developer of Coffee Flavor Map T100 and Visual Impression Card.

Keith also runs two leading specialty coffee shops, Single Origin and Communal Table in Macau. He acquires his coffee skills over multiple trips to Europe and now being certifier and authorized trainer of SCAE coffee diploma system and CQI Q Grader. He was judge of World Barista Championship (HK Region) and Coffee Power Championship.

Kevin Shao (Taiwan) Kevin attained a PHD from College of Medicine, National Cheng Kung University. He specializes in microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, coffee roasting chemistry and water chemistry. In addition to being associate professor, Kevin has also been actively involved in writing about coffee and coffee teaching; Kevin is the columnist of C3 coffee as well as certification course editorial board of the National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism. Kevin has also held series of talk and course about Maillard Reaction and Water quality and Coffee Extracts which are very popular among coffee instructors and coffee practitioners.

Junghyeok is the organizer of World Coffee Aroma Championship (Korea) since 2015. He judges actively in competitions in Korea. Junghyeok is also professor of Dankook University, Kyonggi University and Kyunghee University. Sunju Chae (Korea) Sunju has started actively to be judges in Korea since 2007. She had been Head Judge of Korea Latte Art Championship from 2014-2015, Head Judge of 2014 Philippines Latte Art Championship and Head Judge of 2016 Korea National Barista Championship. She is also Certified Visual Judge of 2014 World Latte Art Championship and 2015 World Latte Art Championship.

Dixon Ip (Hong Kong) Founder of COFFEE Lab Asia & Xen Coffee, Co-founder of Sensory Artisan, the first certified CQI Licensed Q Grader in China & Hong Kong by Coffee Quality Institute (CQI), a SCAA Specialized Instructor & Examiner. Dixon was Co-chair of Judge & Standards Working Committee of Hong Kong Professional Coffee Association, serving as the national coordinator of World Coffee Events (WCE) & World Siphonist Championship for Hong Kong. Dixon is Cupping Judge, World Coffee Roasting Championship 2016, Certified WCE Judge 2013-2018 in World Barista Championship, World Brewers Cup, World Latte Art Championshi, & World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship, and also a Certified Judge in World Siphonist Championship 2013-2016 (first WSC certified judge in China / Hong Kong).

Daniel Chan (Hong Kong) Daniel was Co-Founder of Gear Coffee Roasters in 2015. He received barista and roasting training at Honey Coffee in Fukuoka, Japan. Besides holding SCAE Certification of Roasting Foundation, Intermediate and Professional, Daniel also has various judging experience in World Barista Championship (Hong Kong), World Siphonist Championship (Hong Kong), Mixed Barista Art Championship, Coffee Power Championship and Coffee Power Late Art Competition.

Felix Wong (Hong Kong) Felix Wong has established his first independent operators of quality coffee in Hong Kong since 2001. Now he’s the cofounder of Coffee Assembly, Cafe Corridor, Caffe Essenza, N1 Coffee and OVOCAFE. He qualified as a CQI Coffee Q-grader. He also devotes himself to the local and China coffee industries by judging many recognized coffee competitions, including World Barista Championship (HK Region), World Siphonist Championship (HK Region), Grand Barista Championship, Coffee Power Championship, Hong Kong Aeropress Championship and Roaster’s Choice Championship in Bangkok.

El Au (Hong Kong) El Au is the Co-founder of Barista Academy & N1 Coffee & Co. He has 14 years of solid experience in coffee industries. He has been voted as The Most Popular Barista in Hong Kong in 2010. El has been certified as Technical Judge and Sensory Judge of World Barista Championship (Hong Kong Region) with enrich judging experience. ports Coffee Power Championship since it commencement in 2013.

Terry Tse (Hong Kong) Terry is the Champion of 2014 World Cup Tasters Championship (Hong Kong Region) and represented Hong Kong to compete 2015 World Cup Tasters Championship and being quarter Finalist. He is also Champion of 2013 and 2014 Coffee Power Roasting Championship and 1st Runner-up of Coffee Power Cup Tasters Championship. He plays actively in judging including World Barista Championship (HK Region), World Siphonist Championship (HK Region), World Areopress Championship (China Final), Coffee Power Championship. Terry is Authorized SCAE Trainer, co-founder of Barista HK, Return Coffee and T2 Coffee Fantasy. Edwin (Hong Kong) Edwin Lee is the founder and organizer of Coffee Power Championship since 2013. He devoted himself and his team to support all kinds of coffee competitions in Hong Kong and China. He’s the Executive Committee Member of Hong Kong Professional Coffee Association since its establishment in 2009. He dedicated in judging over 70 National and Regional Coffee Championships in HK, China and Asian countries. Edwin qualified as CQI Coffee Q-grader, SCAE & SCAA Authorized Trainer. He has established Colour Brown Coffee since 2005, now operating 2 cafes, 2 retail outlets, online store and organizing over 30 cultural activities related to coffee, art and charity last year. The competition is divided into two competition days: A. Day One & Day Two (Qualifying Round) Competitors make two matching free pour espresso macchiatos, two lattes, and two identical drinks in the surprise ODD CUP. Each drink will be judged against their presented picture of pattern with ODD Cup following the same pattern as latte. The participants do not have any practice time. There will be five (5) minutes preparation time, nine (9) minutes competition times. Top 12 competitors with highest mark from Day one and Day two will advance to Final Round.

This competition challenges the team in an on-demand performance, from coffee aroma, coffee blending, grinding, brewing to customer service. Every element along the line is important. Competitors will acted as a group consisting of 3 members and present the beverage by using espresso machine and pour-over drip to judges just like what it is in a café. The competition is divided into two competition days:

This round aims to examine if competitor is able to recognize, distinguish and describe the coffee aroma accurately and speedily. Competitor must be Use COFFEE FLAVOUR MAP T100 and its Visual Impression Card (VIC) to compete. There will be five (5) minutes competition time.

The team has to make six (6) Cappuccino and three (3) identical V60 brews. Team must inform the judges of roast profile, specific taste notes and the philosophy on coffee they present. There will be fifteen (15) minutes preparation time, fifteen (15) minutes competition time.

Roasting Machine: Toper Roaster (by Guangzhou Shang Yun Shan Corporations)

This competition is divided into four sessions: A. Day One & Day Two (Roasting) Competitors will be given thirty (30) minutes to evaluate the screen size and defect count; another thirty (30) minutes to roast the beans; and thirty (30) minutes to cup the coffees on stage. Competitors should select and submit the best 150g roasted coffee beans for blind cupping on the next day by Judges.

ROASTING

B. Day Two & Day Three (Cupping by Judges) Judges will participate in the Final Cupping, featuring all of the submitted roasted coffee. The Final Cupping shall be double blind, meaning one official shall mark each competitor’s submitted coffee with a code and keep an answer key to decode the coffee. Coffee Aroma COMPETITION SUMMARY This competition aims to examine if competitor is able to recognize, distinguish and describe the coffee aroma accurately and speedily. Competitor must be Use COFFEE FLAVOUR MAP T100. Visual Impression Card (VIC) will be provided at the competitions. Now one coffee shop “Colour Brown Coffee” and one retail coffee store “Coffee Store by Colour Brown” being operated at Jordan after we left our roots in Sai Kung in 2015. We also collaborate with premium supermarket YATA and operate an retail counter at apm, Kwun Tong, since 2014. Another new coffee shop at Eslite Spectrum Tsim Sha Tsui has been established in 2016. Currently we are official distributor of the 150-years of Julius Meinl Coffee from Vienna, Elektra from Italy, Porlex from Japan, Joco from Australia and Tiamo from Taiwan. We also sell products of Victoria Arduino, WPM, Anfim, Mahlkonig, Bonavita, Ecoffee cup, Adolph, Kalita, Hario etc.

Besides, founding and organizing Coffee Power Championship since 2013, we are also event manager of 2011, 2012 and 2013 World Barista / Siphonist / Cup Tasters Championship (Hong Kong Region). Our team members including Coffee Q-grader, SCAA & SCAE Trainer, awardwinning roaster, and judges of varies coffee championship in Hong Kong and China. With Clear vision, we focus our resources on creativity and technology, so as to nurture the undeveloped part in local coffee industry.
