10th Anniversary Edition Set to Beat All Records “We are proud to host this event for the 10th time and our intention this year is to exceed the success of the 2012 show and achieve another milestone,” Brigadier Nasser Bin Fahad Al-Thani, President of Milipol Qatar 2014 Committee, said a few weeks prior to the show’s opening. Well, even before the doors of the show opened, the Brigadier’s objective has been met as there are five per cent more exhibitors in this 2014 edition than there were two years ago: 261 (including 59 from Qatar), compared to 244 and that figure was already up 10 percent on the 2010 figure pointing to continued and growing interest in the security sector in the region. But more importantly perhaps is that some of these are first time exhibitors from countries that are new to the show: Belgium, Cyprus, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia and Taiwan, and that a number of major companies, such as BAe Systems, Raytheon and Yamaha Motors, amongst others, are exhibiting here at the Doha Exhibition Centre for the first time. A number of companies have chosen to exhibit together in international pavilions. There are six this year: Brazil, France, Germany/Austria, North America, as in 2012, and two new pavilions: Italy and the UK, the latter being the largest pavilion in terms of participating companies with 23, whilst in terms of space the largest is the North American one. Visitors are advised to wear comfortable shoes as they will have more ground to cover than ever before! The built booth floor area covers 6,055m², a 12 percent rise on the 5,403m² of the 2012 show, that was itself an increase
of 19 percent on the 2010 show. “As the place to be for all internal State security requirements, Milipol Qatar and its long list of local and international exhibitors are expected to present solutions for Qatar’s internal State security requirements,” says Brigadier Nasser Bin Fahad Al-Thani. “With the most up-to-date products and services that effectively address a constantly evolving internal State security environment, Qatar will surely benefit from the event’s strong reputation as the region’s most influential trade exhibition dedicated to internal State security,” he adds. With ambitious plans to develop its infrastructure not only for the FIFA World Cup 2022, but also in the communications, security, information systems, railway and metro, coast guard and traffic departments, Qatar has important, new security needs related to tourism and crowd management, urban and air transport, protection of borders, oil fields and strategic buildings. These projects require cutting edge, innovative technological solutions, many of which are exhibited here at Milipol Qatar. The show has a strong focus on products and services that effectively respond to current market trends, and also features optics and optronics equipment; consultancy, training and related services; mobility; personnel equipment and fabrics; major risks, crisis management and civil emergencies; specific transverse technologies; body inspection systems; fast-scan vehicle inspection systems; law enforcement cameras; and unmanned aerial vehicles.
