AGE 90 - KALAMAZOO, MI Romilda passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born February 24, 1929 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Floyd and Cora (Buckalew) Emmons. Romilda enjoyed knitting, crochething, growing orchids and playing golf. She loved shopping, her pets and most of all her family. Romilda was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was active in the Otsego VFW with her husband. On April 15, 1948 in Otsego, she married Clifford LaCoss Jr. who passed away in 1995. Surviving are her children, Romilda (Elton “Jay”) Goswick and Al (Betty) LaCoss both of Otsego; 5 grandchildren, Jacqueline (Mark) Southby, Jannette (Richard) Goswick, Annette (Jon) Bohl, Christopher (Melissa) LaCoss and Heather Chickering along with 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. Burial of ashes will take place at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego Township at a later time. Mike passed away Monday, October 21, 2019 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born February 9, 1962 in Kalamazoo, the son of Ramon and Karla (Rowley) Zantello. Mike graduated from Western Michigan University and had worked at Cook Nuclear Power Plant in Bridgman for many years. He loved riding motorcycles, woodworking, working outside, running, bicycling, kayaking and had taught himself to play the guitar. In May of 1997 in Portage he married Susanne Bellgraph who survives. Also surviving are his sons, Joshua Zantello of Otsego and Michael (Elizabeth) Zantello of Alaska; step-children, Michael (Chris) Zeluff and Tiffany (Dick) Mattox; grandchildren, Amelia, Josh, Marissa, Justin, Alexi, Zoe, Tobin, Emmi, Sutton and Colton; his parents and siblings, Ramon (Bridget) Zantello of Hamilton and Tim (Melissa) Zantello of North Carolina. According to his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 28, 2019 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego with celebrant Bill Rose officiating. Burial of ashes will take place at Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego Township at a later time. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mike may be made to the West Michigan Cancer Center. Betty Jean (Coryell) NORTON AGE 78 - PLAINWELL, MI

Betty passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at the age of 78. Betty was born on March 31, 1941 in Three Rivers, MI. She was the daughter of Willard and Margaret Calvert. She was a graduate of Plainwell High School. On December 26, 1958 she married Clarence “Shorty” Coryell. Shorty was the love of her life. Later in life after Shorty’s death, she married Roy Norton. She is survived by her two daughters: Crystal (Terry) McWilliams, of Martin; Viola (Dave) Granger, of Shelby, OH; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Clarence “Shorty” Coryell, her parents and step-parents. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service was held Wednesday, October 23, 2019. Burial of Betty’s ashes was at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Orangeville. Those who wish may make contributions to the Otsego VFW Post 3030, American Heart Association and American Lung Association. One Night That Changed The World... The Miracle of Christmas!

Daniel entered into his eternal home on October 12, 2019. He was born March 21, 1951. Daniel was a Vietnam veteran serving on the USS Kittyhawk in the United States Navy. His passion later became research and development in the pet food industry where he became fast friends with so may. Dan enjoyed spending time with his beautiful wife, Laila, watching movies, creating artwork and working in his yard. He spent many hours in his kitchen and shared his yummy food with all he loved. Dan was preceded in death by his father, William Jager and his mother, Joan Gross. He is survived by his wife, Laila; sisters, Valerie (Dale) Harrison and Shelley (Jeff) Ladd; brothers, Jason (Jen) Jager and Josh Jager; daughters, Shanda (Chris) Kerber and Leslie (Rich) Valkner. Also surviving are granddaughters, Maya Kerber, Helena Kerber, Aliza Kerber and Kennedy Valkner. A Celebration of Life for this great man and wonderful father will be held Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Four Roses Cafe, 663 10th St. in Plainwell, MI.

Marcia A. CRONKHITE AGE 94 - KALAMAZOO, MI

Marcia passed away Friday, October 18, 2019 at her home in Alamo Township. She was born February 7, 1925 in Bloomingdale, the daughter of Lee and Anna (Fritz) Confer. Marcia was a Plainwell High School graduate and lifelong resident of the area. She had worked as a nurse’s aide at Alamo Nursing Home. Marcia enjoyed crocheting and loved to bake. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed trying new recipes. On December 12, 1945 in Plainwell she married Lloyd Cronkhite who passed away in 2008. Surviving are her son Bernard (Gail) Cronkhite, granddaughter, Michelle Colyer, great-grandson, Matthew Colyer and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings, Wesley, Opal, Fritz, Bob and Don. Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 22, 2019. Rev. Robert Confer Jr. officiated. Burial followed at West Cooper Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Marcia may be made to Ascension Hospice or Alamo Nursing Home Activities Fund. "You have made known the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand" (Psalm 16:11).

The quality of joy is always a result of something else, i.e. marriage, the birth of a child, family, friendships and watching the sun set over Lake Michigan.

The Bible teaches us that joy is a byproduct of our relationship with God. The Psalmist, who experienced the emotions of anger, depression, fear and loneliness, saw God as the source of true joy.

The Bible says, "The joy of the Lord is our strength" (Nehemiah 8:10). Jesus said, "There is joy in Heaven whenever a sinner repents" (Luke 15:10). Joy is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). There is even such a thing as joy in sorrow when we know our loved ones are safe in God's presence (Psalm 30:5, Matthew 5:4). Earthly joys are temporary; spiritual joys are eternal.

Let's take a closer look and discover some ways we can experience joy in God's presence. Consider four words: DESIRE "Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4).

Our friendship with God begins with our desire to know Him.

ASPIRE "As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God" (Psalm 42:1).

To aspire means to long for or to seek after. The Bible invites us to, "Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on him while he is near" (Isaiah 55:6). The promise is, "Ask and it will be given; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened" (Matthew 7:7). PERSPIRE While salvation is not by works (Ephesians 2:8-9), "We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works…" (Ephesians 2:10). Serving God is our calling and our joy.

INSPIRE Jeus said, "…Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:16).

A believer who sincerely desires God, seeks after God, and serves God will naturally inspire others to seek Him. The joy of being in God's presence is contagious. Joy is multiplied as it is given.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I praise You for the joy of Your living presence. In Your strong name, Amen.
