Diane passed away, Friday, December 20, 2024, at Stanford Lodge in Plainwell, following a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born June 4, 1952, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Richard and Theresa (Caro) Wood. Diane worked as a long-distance phone operator at Michigan Bell, cleaned houses and sold Avon. She enjoyed volunteering at Allegan General Hospital, following NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt Jr., and attending cruise in nights at Deans and the Gilmore Car Museum with her husband. On March 17, 1973, in Twin Lakes, she married Timothy Walters and together they spent 51 wonderful years together. Also surviving are her brothers, Richard Wood of Kalamazoo and Dale (Mary Beth) Wood of Galesburg; sister, Patricia Wood of Kalamazoo; 2 nieces and her Uncle Frank (Nancy) who was like a brother. She was preceded in death by her parents. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of Diane’s life will be held at a later time. Burial of ashes will be in the spring at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego. Contributions in memory of Diane may be directed to the West Michigan Cancer Center. Jerry passed away, Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the Suji House in Kalamazoo. He was born March 26, 1942, in Flint, the son of Vernice and Laura (Dell) Greenman. Jerry proudly served as a mechanic in the U.S. Air Force. After his honorable discharge he continued as a mechanic until his retirement. Jerry enjoyed woodworking, sudoku puzzles and took great pride in keeping up his yard. On October 14, 1962, in Rapid City, South Dakota, he married Carole Smith who survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Deborah (Carl) Blackwood of Iowa; grandchildren, Ryan (Jessie) Coleman, Amanda Coleman, Katie (Josh) Nyberg, Lee Gregersen, Tony Blackwood, Lesa Blackwood and Teresa Blackwood; great-grandchildren, Aaryon Anderson, Tucker Anderson, Spencer Rockafellow, Nora Nyberg and Leighton Nyberg; brother, Dell (Lula) Greenman of Virginia along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Sherry Gregersen and siblings Don and Virginia. According to his wishes cremation has taken place. Burial of ashes will take place at 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta. As we come to the end of a year and anticipate our future, the important thing is knowing where to look. The story of the Magi (Wise Men) is the bridge which ushers us into the season of Epiphany on the church calendar. The word Epiphany comes from a Greek word meaning “manifestation” or “appearance.” It commemorates the occasion when Wise Men came to pay homage to the Christ-child. They were from various races and nationalities, symbolizing Christ is not for one race only but for all people.

“There’s no place like a home.” Meet Dorothy, a darling shelter dog who’s ready to follow the yellow brick road straight into your heart! Dorothy looked around and realized she wasn’t in Kansas anymore when she was brought to the shelter as a lost dog 11/21/24. Since no one came to reclaim her, she’s been spayed, microchipped, and brought up to date on vaccinations and prevention. The medical team estimates she’s~3 years old. Dorothy is a sweet, playful girl with the most adorable wrinkly face!

While the focus of this story is upon the gifts they brought and the Child they worshipped; I would submit none of that would have been possible had they not known where to look.

Dorothy hasn’t been temperament-tested yet, so here’s a guess as to what her future family could include: Dogs: Yes, after a meet & greet to ensure they’re a good match. Cats: TBD Children: Probably—recommended age TBD
