“SEASONS OF THE SOUL”
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens Ecclesiastes 3:1
By Rev Dan Minor - revdminor1945@gmai com
Just as there are seasons in the physical wor ld, there are also seasons in our relationship with God I call them seasons of the soul as follows:
Planting
The seed of God’s Word is planted in our lives (Mar k 4:3) This may come in a number of ways i n c l u d i n g a s e r v i c e o f wo r s h i p, l i s t e n i n g t o Chr istian music, reading a Chr istian book, by family or fr iends
Awakening
There comes a time when the Holy Spir it convicts us of our sins and our need for a Savior (John 16:8-11) The good news is that Jesus Chr ist died for our sins (John 3:16) We do not have to live with guilt
Repenting
To repent means to tur n around and move in another direction toward God The Bible says Jesus came preaching “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17) Peter’s message on Pentecost was the same (Acts 2:38)
Conver ting
Conversion is a change that God wor ks in us when we repent of our sins and believe in Jesus Chr ist as our Savior It is like being bor n again (John 3:3) It is not tur ning over a new leaf It is becoming a new person
Growing
When you find yourself facing the loss of a loved one we can assist in making the details you face a little
yo u r o b i t u a r y announcement on our community pages, simply ask the funeral home to send the details to the Community Shoppers Guide or call/email us yourself Obituar ies are approximately $75 and are included in our online edition and on our website Community Shoppers Guide 117 N Far mer St , Otsego • 269-694-9431
Hebrews 6:1 invites us to “leave the elementar y doctr ine of Chr ist and go on to matur ity ” Mar k’s account of the gospel uses an analogy from the physical wor ld, “For the ear th br ings for th fr uit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, then the full cor n in the ear” (Mar k 4:28) Apostle Peter called it growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Chr ist (2 Peter 3:18) Growing in Chr ist is a life time jour ney
Harvest Time
Another word for this is glor ification For believers, this is our final season In Heaven our salvation is made complete Heaven is where our knowledge is increased and our love perfected Heaven is a p l a c e o f p e r fe c t p e a c e J e s u s s a i d t o H i s disciples, “I go to prepare a place for you I will come again and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:2, 3) What promise could be greater than this?
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, forgive my sins and come into my life I want to be more like You In Your strong name Amen

I DA R E YO U TO B E L OV E D BY G O D
When people listen, God speaks.
When people obey, God acts When God acts, people are chang ed
You prepared the good ear th you planted her roots deep; the vineyard filled the land Your vine soared high and shaded the mountains, even dwarfing the giant cedars Your vine ranged west to the Sea, east to the River Psalm 80:7
For it is we who are the circumcision, we who ser ve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh though I myself have reasons for such confidence If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more; circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for legalistic righteousness, faultless Philippians 3:3-6
REFLECTION: We who are “circumcised” from above by God’s Spir it are the tr ue seeds of Abraham We are the heirs of God’s Kingdom Our love for Chr ist is confir med by the sign of a circumcised hear t and mind Chr istian circumcision is not cutting the flesh, but a change of the hear t by the Holy Spir it The inward wor king of our hear t is changing us into the image of Chr ist Our change in thinking is visible in our actions, words, and deeds with others Romans 2:29 “No, a tr ue Jew (chosen child of God) is one whose hear t is r ight with God
And tr ue circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law; rather, it is a change of hear t produced by the Spir it And a person with a changed hear t seeks praise from God, not from people ” (NLT) We boast in Chr ist Jesus because He first loved us We do not put any confidence in the flesh We all have tr ied so many times to obey the laws of God but we fail drastically Who are the tr uly circumcised worshipers of God? John 4:23 “But an hour is coming, and now is, when the tr ue worshipers will worship the Father in spir it and tr uth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers ”
PRAYER TIME: Heavenly Father, You have created and prepared the ear th for planting of food and crops
But, more impor tantly, You planted in our hear ts the root of Jesus Chr ist that grows deep in us
This week may we gather to His house to praise His Holy Name In Jesus’ Name, Amen
