Are you ready to go to the manger? We do this ever y year at this time to remind ourselves that God is the light of the wor ld It all began with a promise God made through the prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 9:2) The promise was affir med by the apostle John (John 1:9) and confir med by Jesus (John 8:12)

The question is: How do we exper ience God’s light in a wor ld of dar kness? John’s account of the good news is stated in John 1:5: “The light shines in the dar kness, and the dar kness has not overcome it ” In other words, no for m of dar kness can extinguish the light of Chr ist, because His light is eter nal

Here is another way of saying it: In a wor ld of dar kness

• God’s light is a positive force for good Do we tend to dwell on the negative, or do we focus on the positive things that are happening in our lives?

• God’s light is something that shines for the glor y of God (Matthew 5:16) Do we do things for the glor y of God or for self-glor ification?

• God’s light guides us on the road of life Following God’s guidance is like walking in a dar k woods at night with a flash light As we walk in the light of God’s wisdom, more light is given

• God’s light is God’s mercy “If we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin” (I John 1:7) Prayer: Dear Lord,

means the arrival of someone or the start of something During Advent we anticipate the arrival of Jesus and seek to make room for him in the “inn of our hearts ” We have a Christmas Eve Eve service on, you guessed it, December 23 at 6:00pm. This will be a family-friendly service that is sure to be packed with joy and meaning So, save the date and join your friends at FCC on the Eve of Christmas Eve!

Also, during the four Sundays of Advent, I’ll be sharing a message series called Christ in the Carols We will look at some of our favorite Christmas carols from a biblical perspective to experience hope, love, joy and peace! So join us on Sundays at 10:40am to worship Jesus No matter who you are or where you’ve been, you are welcome at FCC

~ Jesus loves you, Pastor Lenny Luchetti
