The lane closures will begin at Platt Street (to the east), and North Street (to the west). M-89 will be reduced from 5 lanes to 3 lanes.

The road will be clearly marked during the trial, and advance notice signage will be placed on M-89 by May 4th. This trial will not include reverse angle parking.

Traffic engineers will conduct additional traffic studies with the temporary road diet in place to measure their initial predictions against the finding of the trial road diet. The findings will be presented at two public meetings; June 9th at 10am and 7:00pm at City Hall.

This position will complete routine maintenance, diagnostics and repair of our school bus fleet, along with moving equipment throughout the county and filling in on bus routes as needed. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years experience working with diesel buses/trucks, ASE certifications, valid CDL, excellent driving record, and previous maintenance training. Need to be flexible with work schedule, but primarily Monday-Friday for 20 hours/week. A mother is … • A child’s first teacher • A child’s first image of truth, goodness and moral values • A child’s first nurse – chauffeur, counselor and friend It has been said “God could not be everywhere at once, so he made mothers.” There is a passage from Proverbs 31 which describes a godly mother: “She is far more precious than jewels … the heart of her husband trusts in her …She girds herself with strength … Her lamp does not go out at night… Strength and dignity are her clothing … She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat of the bread of idleness … Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, he praises her … Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised…” It has been said we receive at least three gifts from our mothers: • Life is the first gift • Love is the second gift • Understanding is the third gift How blessed are we who have received these gifts and more from our mothers. Barbara A. (Main) FAUST AGE 82 – HASTINGS, MI

Barbara passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born February 5, 1933 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Ralph and Elsie (Williams) Rozema. Barbara was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to many. Surviving are her husband, James Faust; her children, Lawrence Edward (Zarlene) Main, Robert (Kathy) Main, Steven (Abbie) Main and Diane (Greg) Main-Branch; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her step-daughters, Juliana “Julie” (Keith) VanAlstine, Juliet “Jody” (Lenny) Hughes and Rose (Richard) Formaz and her siblings, Charlotte Belleu, Pat Hartman, Ralph Rozema and Nancy Rich. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence Main; her sons Ronald and Thomas and by her daughter, June. Cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled at this time. Wendy passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015 at her home in Plainwell. She was born December 29, 1949 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Harold and Una (Whitney) Cole. For several years Wendy worked at Parker Hannifin. She enjoyed hunting for morel mushrooms, camping, flowers, going to the casino, playing at the roulette table and making jewelry. On September 15, 1966 she married Dale Beelick who survives. Also surviving are her children, Gale Beelick and Kevin (Laurie) Beelick; her grandchildren, Jeremy, Kirstin, Benjamin, Austin, Corine and Skylar; great-grandson, Tanner, and by her siblings, Jean Borgais, Lois Hammond, Gina Cole, Victor Cole and Brenda Cole. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Mary Beelick, and brother, Jefferson Cole Sr. According to her wishes cremation has taken place and a gathering for family and friends to celebrate Wendy’s life will be held Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at her home in Plainwell. On Sunday, May 10 at 2:00 p.m. there will be a ceremony at East Martin Cemetery, Martin, Michigan, to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the capture of Confederacy States of America president Jefferson Davis on May 10, 1865. The gravesite of Civil War veteran Andrew Bee will receive a new marker saying he was “The first man to lay hands on Jeff Davis at his capture.”

AGE 62 – KALAMAZOO, MI Robert passed away suddenly Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at his home in Kalamazoo. Bob was born January 20, 1953 in Kalamazoo, the son of Clarence “Cookie” and Roberta “Bobby” (Roebuck) Cook. For many years he was a hog farmer, then became a truck driver and a member of the Teamsters Local 406 in Grand Rapids. He played guitar in many area country music bands and was a semi-pro bass fisherman. In his spare time Bob enjoyed fishing, coon hunting, gardening, bowling, morel mushroom hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his daughters, Stacey (Rick) Glenn of Oklahoma and Monica (Mark) Henry of Kalamazoo; his grandchildren, Ashley Staggs, Victoria Henry, Makayla Henry and Brodey Glenn; his brother, Richard (Joni) Cook; his exwife, Dawn Cook; his mother-in-law, June Stull; parents, Bobbie and Cookie; many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Patty Sue Cook and Roger Cook and by his father-in-law, Ron Stull. Friends may meet with Bob’s family Friday, May 8, 2015 from 5 PM-8 PM at the Winkel Funeral Home - Otsego where a Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 9, 2015 at noon with Celebrant Molly Wieber officiating.
