This spring, EPA oversaw the removal of asbestos debris from the power house building on the former Rock-Tenn site, a vacant paper mill that stopped operating in 2004. Licensed haulers took the material containing asbestos to EPA-approved landfills permitted for the disposal of asbestos waste. Perimeter air monitoring was conducted through all phases of the cleanup to ensure that asbestos was not released from the site.

Kathy Sue Wilcox went missing from Otsego, Michigan on July 12, 1972 at the age of 15. That was 47 years ago and her case is still UNSOLVED!! Her disappearance has been reported by local TV news, newspapers & flyers. “Missing In Michigan Association” is a non-profit group that uses donations in their efforts to locate missing persons and assist their families in Michigan. They have helped in our efforts to find Kathy, and now it is our turn to help them help others. This is a fundraiser for “Missing In Michigan Association” - Please join us!

He was preceded in death by his parents: Alvin (Doris Wright) Friel; his wife: Jeannette; brother in law: Harold Hoffman; sister in law: Desma Friel. Sally Ann (Newman) CROSSE AGE 84 - KALAMAZOO, MI

Sally died peacefully, with family by her side, on June 17, 2019. Sally is lovingly remembered by her children, William G. Rantz (Colleen Prichard), Cheryl A. Meech, and Marjorie R. Endres (Robert). Sally was a deeply proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, Garrett and Gavin Rantz; Jason and Josh Meech; Michael, Kristen and Ashley Endres, and three great-grandchildren, Derek, Owen, and Joey Meech. Sally was born August 7, 1934 in Plainwell MI. She was preceded in death by her husband Byron J. Crosse; brother, Richard M. Newman of Interlaken, FL and her parents, Milton and Ruth (Wendt) Newman. She was a 1952 graduate of Plainwell High School. Sally married Gene L. Rantz in 1955. She was part-owner and accountant of the family business, Timber Ridge Ski Area, until retiring. After her family, Sally loved, riding horses, making arts & crafts, bingo, dancing, bicycle riding, league bowling, and her beloved bichon dog, Foo Foo. In 1990 Sally and Byron Crosse began a romance and later a marriage that lasted for the remainder of their lives. They adored each other. Sally and Byron enjoyed retirement together, travelling between their homes in Ruskin, FL on Tampa Bay and Baseline Lake in Gobles, MI. They also found adventure traveling internationally and flying the float airplane. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or the Alzheimer Association. The family would like to thank the staff at Vicinia Gardens for the love and care they extended to our dear mother in her final year. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life, together with her late husband Byron, is planned for 5pm-8pm August 2, 2019 at the Park Club, 219 West South St. in Kalamazoo. Marsh passed on Wed. July 3 after battling cancer. He lived most of his life in the Plainwell area. Marsh was a high school athlete; he was always proud that he played for Coach Streidl. Marsh played football for a year at Olivet College, but returned home to work construction with his dad. Marsh could name many major highways that he had worked on during those years. Marsh then married Margaret (Lovett). Marsh was always a hard worker and for the next 36 years he worked for beer distributors, always selling Budweiser beer. He was thought of as the Bud Man by family and friends. During retirement, Marsh kept busy as the handy man for his family; he enjoyed helping people. Marsh also volunteered his time to The William Crispe Community House. He served as board president and enjoyed planning improvements for the people that lived and worked at the home. Marsh was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Howrigon Sr. and Lee (Pease) Henry and his brothers Ron and Don and sister Donna. Marsh is survived by Margaret, his wife of 57 years, children Tonia Shoup (Mark), Tracey Digby (Jim), Trent Howrigon, four grandchildren Zach Shoup (Jeanine), Laura Vicenzi (Steve), Lily Shoup, Taylor Bennell (Chris) and three great-grandsons Kevin Vicenzi, Alex Vicenzi and Luke Bennell. Marsh was a man that loved and enjoyed his family and friends. Marsh knew his time was short and he wanted a chance to see his friends. A large Open House was held on June 15th and Marsh was overwhelmed by the number of friends and family that attended to celebrate his life. Marsh passed the last couple of weeks enjoying pictures of the event and talking about his friends and family. Marsh’s family appreciates all the love and kindness that was shared with Marsh during his last weeks. Marsh was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, friend and community member and he will be missed. The immediate family will have a private farewell. Donations can be made in Marsh’s honor to William Crispe Community House or Wings of Hope Hospice of Allegan County. Raymond LAMORANDIER, Jr. AGE 88 - NEWAYGO, MI

Raymond entered into the presence of the Lord, February 24, 2019. A member of the Little River Band of Ottawa, he was born December 13, 1930, in Newaygo County and passed at the same homestead he was raised on. Everyone knows he was an amazing human, husband, father, brother, and uncle that worked hard and insisted on remaining independent until the end. He was preceeded in death by many, including his adored and beloved wife Ruth and his brothers and sister. Ray is survived by five cherished children, Carl, Vicki, Marsha, Carol, Keith, and a great number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great grandchildren. Also, surviving are nieces and nephews: Larry (Ursula), Gary (Sandy), Sue (Bob), Mark, as well as many others. Memorial will be held Sunday, July 21 from 2pm-4pm at the Gun Plain Charter Twp. We can never go wrong by showing kindness. Kindness is love lived out. It follows patience (I Corinthians 13:4). Kindness is a reflection of the love of Christ within us. Kindness is positive energy directed outward. Genuine kindness is innate, voluntary, natural and spontaneous. It is never offered to bring attention to ourselves but to bring glory to God. Kindness encourages others, heals relationships and is one of the most God-like things we can do. The message from the Bible is clear: Be nice to people! Jesus modeled kindness and He wants us to do the same (Ephesians 4:32). In fact, kindness is something believers wear (Colossians 3:12). The church was built on kindness (Acts 2:44-45).

Where do we learn kindness? We learn it from the people around us. This may include our parents, teachers, coaches, classmates, co-workers, neighbors and friends.

William Penn wrote, “I expect to pass through life but once, if therefore, there be any kindness I can show, let me do it now – for I shall never pass this way again.” We may never know how many lives we can touch if only we would try a little kindness.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to show kindness today. Amen
