AGILITY PRE-SEASON SPORTS SCREEN

e edge you need to prepare for the fall sports season and to get a head start on the competition.

Background: Without a rock solid foundation built on functional joint stability and mobility, the athlete is more susceptible to injury.

These same building blocks are essential for athletes to perform at their best. This screen aims to address these foundational issues by identifying muscle imbalances as well as inefficient movement patterns.

The focus of this screen is to provide the athlete with: • Education on injury prevention.

• Functional Movement Screening (FMS) - identifies inefficient movement patterns, muscle imbalances, weakness and flexibility/mobility problems. • Instruction on corrective exercises to address the imbalances / movement problems found during the FMS. • The use of our facility for 30 days on our “Maintenance Program”. • The opportunity to learn functional strength training exercises and circuits that incorporate multi-joint/full body movement patterns (while utilizing the Maintenance Program). This screen is appropriate for middle school, high school, college and recreational athletes of all sports interests and skill levels. AGE 65 – OTSEGO, MI

Renny passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015 at his home in Plainwell. He was born March 24, 1951 in Plainwell the son of Lester and Phyllis (Madden) Ransbottom. For more than 28 years he owned and operated the Third Base Grocery in Plainwell. He was also active with the Michigan Association of School Boards, having served on the Board of Directors. He had also been Chair of their Government Relations Committee and been a mentor with Members Assisting Peers. He had received the MASB Level 7 Presidents Award and The MASB Advocacy and Data Specialty Awards. Renny served his community as President of the Otsego School Board, Treasurer of the Otsego Public School Foundation, Vice President of the Otsego District Library Board and was a member of “Band of Friends”. On March 25, 1977 at the United Methodist Church in Plainwell he married Phyllis Lynn Hummel who survives. Also surviving are his children, Michael Ransbottom of Otsego and Katherine (Austin Wiggins) Ransbottom of Plainwell. Cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled at this time. Glenn passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, August 6, 2015. Glenn was born on August 25th, 1949 in St. Clair, MI. He was the son of Harold and Eleanor (Kammer) Beier. Glenn graduated from St. Clair High School in 1967. He then graduated from Oakland University before he began his career in Education. On August 11, 1973 in Port Sanilac, he married Delphine Lanctot. In 1973, Glenn began teaching at Plainwell High School. During his years at Plainwell he was a teacher, counselor, and athletic director. He also coached football, varsity basketball, boys and girls tennis, girls cross country, girls track, and girls JV basketball. In addition, he also coached basketball at Kalamazoo College and Nazareth College. Glenn is survived by his wife: Del; two children: Brett Beier, of Kalamazoo; Janene (Scott) Schroeder, of Allendale; three grandchildren: Alyssa, Mason, and Owen Schroeder; two siblings: Terry (Pam) Beier, of East China; Vicki (Mike) Holth, of Marysville; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Those who wish, may make memorial contributions to the Glenn Beier Scholarship Fund. Upon graduation from seminary my wife and I drove to our first appointment in Jeromesville, Ohio. When we saw the village sign, I remember saying, “This is where it all begins.” I thought of that on a recent week-end when we returned to that storybook town which was celebrating its Bicentennial Celebration. Although some businesses are no longer in operation, some familiar landmarks are still present – a longstanding funeral home, furniture store, three churches, a school, a post-office and a corner grocery store, to name a few. Pastoral ministry can be a lonely experience for a young couple starting out. It wasn’t long before we began making new friends. As we all know, the church is the people. There is one family in particular I would like to mention – the Earl Hardy family. They are the kind of friends every pastor’s family needs. They are honest, hard-working, faithful salt-of-the-earth type people. We shared many joys together. We knew they would be lifelong friends. On the way home, I said to my wife, “Four years of ministry – forty-five years of friendship. There is nothing better than this.” Long term earthly friendship is one thing. Eternal friendship is quite another. Near the end of His life on earth Jesus said something which must have startled his disciples. He said, “I no longer call you servants… but friends” (John l5:l5). To be a friend of God is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a person. God has promised eternal friendship to all believers. Prayer: Thank you Lord for friendships on earth and in heaven. Paul passed away at his home on August 10, 2015. He was born May 2, 1946 to Donald & Fern (Whyment) VanDenBerg and was a lifelong resident of Plainwell. Paul spent his career running the family dairy farm before handing the reigns over to his sons. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and MMPA. Paul was preceded in death by his son Douglas VanDenBerg, his brother-in-law Ronald Hotchkiss and his parents. He is survived by his wife Judy, his sons Michael (Chris) VanDenBerg, Robert (Stacey) VanDenBerg and Jason (Angie) VanDenBerg, his grandchildren Christopher, Molly & Joey VanDenBerg, Sam, Laura & Vanessa VanDenBerg, Cody Schmidt, Tristan, Lexus & Ava VanDenBerg, his sisters Betty Hotchkiss and Janet (Greg) Martin as well as many other relatives.
