WANTED: Auto Detail Shop Team Lead

Winner of West Michigan’s Best and Brightest Companies to work for is seeking the right individual to join this fast paced, high volume auto dealership in Plainwell MI as an Auto Detail shop team lead.

The Team Leader role will be a working leader and should have a proven track record of leading a team to reach its goal. A successful candidate in this positon will have excellent communication skills to provide training and daily direction to the team. As a Team Leader you will manage the flow of day to day operations ensuring deadlines are met. Candidates must be outgoing and people friendly, motivated and able to multi-task, as well as able to work with a deadline. As a working detailer you must be extremely thorough cleaning, polishing and waxing the automobile, both inside and out, to produce a show-quality level of detail. This position also ensures that all vehicles are prepped for delivery, clean and on time while adhering to the department delivery schedule. The Detailer will also cautiously move cars on the property organizing them in a presentable manner. This will be a full time position working the following schedule with additional hours as needed to exceed customer expectations: Monday: 9am-8pm, Tuesday/Wednesday: 11am-8pm, Thursday: off, Friday 9am-6pm, Saturday: 9am-4pm

“THE YOKE OF CHRIST” By Rev. Dan Minor

revdminor@att.net _____________________________________ “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me…” – Matthew 11:29 When we are feeling overwhelmed by the burdens of life, what then? Unforeseen illnesses, unexpected losses and unbearable burdens can sap our strength, diminish our spirit and test our faith. The good news is that we do not have to bear our burdens alone. Jesus said, “Lo, I am with you always” (Matthew 28:20). The ministry of Jesus was to save the lost, give strength to the exhausted and rest to the weary. In Matthew 11:28 we read, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). In the next verses He says, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me … for my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:29-30). A yoke is defined as a wooden beam normally used between a pair of oxen or other animals to enable them to share the work load. Thus, to be yoked with Christ is to share our burdens with Him. Jesus observed that the laws of Judaism had become a burden to the people (Matthew 23:4). By contrast, the way of Jesus is the way of grace and truth (John 1:l7). To be yoked with Christ is to submit ourselves to His Lordship (submission); to trust Him to cleanse us from our sins (salvation) and to serve others in His name (service). The key to taking on the yoke of Christ is to learn from Him (Matthew 11:29). As we study the life of Christ, we discover the supreme examples of poise under pressure, confidence in the midst of confrontation and serenity in the midst of suffering. It is told that on the rural roads of India, every so often one will come upon a post about shoulder high with a shelf on top of it. These posts are called “Soma Tonga” which means “resting place.” We might call them “resting stops.” People walking on the road carrying heavy loads upon their backs can stop at a Soma Tonga. They can place their heavy load on the shelf and rest for a while before continuing their journey. In India, new converts to Christianity are apt to call Christ “My Soma Tonga” – the One who gives me rest. Paraphrase: “Come to me, all of you who are exhausted, weary, worn, troubled and stressed out, and I will give you rest.” Who can refuse an offer like that? Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for carrying us through difficult times and for rest. Amen.

OBITUARIES Carol J. RISNER

AGE 79 – SHELBYVILLE, MI Carol passed away July 30, 2016, at Borgess Hospital. Carol was born January 3, 1937, in Salyersville, Kentucky, the daughter of Wiley and Ressie (Whitaker) Howard. Carol worked at Bronson Hospital in the housekeeping department. On April 11, 1952, she married Howard Risner, and they were married fifty two years before he preceded her in death on January 17, 2004. Carol married Greely Marshall and he preceded in her death on April 27, 2010. Carol was a member of Pentecostal Church of Christ in Orangeville. Carol is survived by sons: Mike (Kathy) Risner, Howard “Doug” (Nancy) Risner, daughters, Linda Howard and Loretta (James) Elkins, daughters in law, Pam Risner and Tammy Eakins, sisters Rita Long, Wanda Dugard, Ellen Whitaker and Ann Sumney and a brother, Wiley J. Howard, brothers in law, Willard and Richard Risner, a sister in law, Lois Jean Wooten, fourteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, special friends, Gladys Lombardini and Judy Dee, and several nieces and nephews. Carol was also preceded in death, by her parents, sons, Micky Ray, Kenny and Rex Risner, a grandson, Brandon Risner, and a son in law, Kelly Howard. Funeral services were conducted, Wednesday, August 3, 2016. Her son, Pastor Mike Risner, and Pastors Rich Sheldon and James Hall officiated. Burial took place in Oak Hill Cemetery. Those who wish to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the needs of the family. Herbert Gerald “Jerry” STEINKE AGE 74 – OTSEGO, MI

Jerry passed away Friday, July 29, 2016 at Borgess Hospital. He was born February 3, 1942 in Dominion City, Manitoba, Canada to Herman and Alvina (Hartig) Steinke. Jerry had worked for General Motors for 33 years until the Kalamazoo plant closed and he retired in 1998. He enjoyed doing things for others and had built several decks and other construction projects after his retirement. Jerry loved fishing up north for bass, ice fishing in Canada for walleye, hunting for deer and bear, canning tomatoes, and going to the private men’s club meetings on Wednesday and Friday nights. On March 8, 1963 in Kalamazoo he married Joyce Niles who passed away in 2005. Surviving are his children, Richard (Kandy) Steinke of Otsego and Wendy Baden (John Stech) of Delton and his grandson, Richard Steinke of Allegan. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce Steinke; son, William Steinke; son-in-law, Tim Baden and sister, Lilly Ann Lancaster. A graveside service was held, August 1, 2016 at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego. Celebrant, Bill Rose officiated. Contributions in memory of Jerry may be made to Chicora Country Chapel or Wings of Hope Hospice. Arrangements by Winkel Funeral Home Messages of condolence may be posted at www.WinkelFuneralHome.com
