A letter from the Director ince its establishment in 2012, the Center for Workforce & Continuing S Education (CWCE) has been a center for innovative, short-term workforce training and fun personal enrichment classes on behalf of the
Community Colleges of Spokane and our six-county service region here in Northeastern Washington. In collaboration with local business partners and organizations, CWCE continues to strive to offer the best non-credit training possible through our Open Enrollment and Corporate Training divisions. As regional businesses continue to struggle finding talented trained workers, they are increasingly looking to college divisions like CWCE to help meet their workforce training and hiring needs. With this in mind, CWCE has partnered with other workforce organizations such as the Spokane Workforce Council to provide training to unemployed workers to fill immediate needs for businesses in the areas of IT Support Specialists with CompTIA certifications, Phlebotomists, Business Support Specialists with Microsoft Suite certifications, and Manufacturing Skills Standard Council Certified (MSSC) workers. While the collaboration with the Spokane Workforce Council may be specific to SWC clients at WorkSource, community members seeking to sharpen their skills before seeking new jobs or promotions do not need to miss out. To this end, in this issue of Shine you will see a plethora of offerings featuring Open Enrollment classes open to the community in the majority of the above areas. Likewise, you will also see a continuation of fun personal enrichment courses such as Photography, Floral Design, Yard Art Welding, and our regionally popular INCA After Dark culinary classes. Thank you for allowing the Center for Workforce & Continuing Education to be a valuable addition to your workforce and recreational goals. Sincerely,
Nolan Gruver CWCE Executive Director Center for Workforce & Continuing Education
