Researchers will have access to the HPI Future SOC Lab, in Germany

EIC Professor is the Recipient of Best Doctoral Thesis Award the signals propagation is essential to “ To predict howdesign efficient communication systems

Leyre Azpilicueta received an Award for the Best Doctoral Thesis in Foundations and Basic Information Technologies and Communications, and its Applications, of the Engineers' Official College of Telecommunication and the Spanish Association of Telecommunication Engineers (COIT-AEIT) of Spain. Her thesis “Characterization of wireless propagation in complex indoor environments” was developed in the Public University of Navarre in collaoration with Tecnológico de Monterrey. The thesis focuses in the design of a new method that allows to optimize communications systems, with applications in smart cities, safer transporation or sensor network with lower consumption and longer duration. Her research work has been very productive, from her thesis she has published over 34 papers in journals, 72 conference papers, three book chapters and four awards. “The new method uses an algorithm that obtains precise results in lower simulation time” concluded Azpilicueta. Successful Forum of Industrial Engineering was Held

Ricardo Thierry, Director of Associate Graduate Programs and President of the National College of Industrial Engineers (CONAII), organized the event. He also had help from the Extension and Marketing departments. The keynote speech was “The Panama Canal: Achievements, Challenges, and Benefits in its Logistics.” The Ambassador of Panama in Mexico, Manuel Ricardo Perez Gonzalez delivered the speech. “The Importance of the Enforcement of OHSAS 18001 Norm on Industrial Safety and Hygiene” was a successful panel. The second panel “Infrastructure Logistics” was well-attended. Atl Aceves, gave the presentation “The design of Sustainable Development of NAICM.” He is the General Coordinator of the International Airport of Mexico City . "The audience enjoyed what the experts had to say about different projects. The main topics were: infrastructure, logistics, industrial security, and sustainable development” mentioned Thierry.

More than 100 people arrived to Estado de México Campus

wearable sensors “ Using connected to an App, we can enable automatic personal risk detection

After a selection process from several universities world-wide, the HPI Future SOC Lab approved the research project “Towards Personal Risk Detection Based on One-Class Classifiers and the Use of Wearable Sensors.” The researchers from the School of Engineering and Sciences will use a 64-core high performance platform at the HPI lab. “Due to the high performance processing requirements, we will use 32 cores from Estado de México Campus and 64 cores from the HPI lab,” mentioned Luis Trejo. The personal safety project aims at generating and processing millions of physiological and behavioral data of users towards automatic detection of personal risk. During the research project, the pattern recognition algorithms that will run in a sensor-based bracelet will be designed; the solution will be integrated into ELISA’s architecture. The results will be presented at the HPI Future SOC Lab Congress in November 2016. More information: http://goo.gl/py6UpN

Utility Professionals Receive Training in Water Management the administrative “ Strengthen capacities of water utilities ”

Civil servants from Reynosa, Piedras Negras, Monterrey, Victoria, and CONAGUA are taking a workshop by EIC and NADBANK

The Water Center (CDA) along with the North American Development Bank (NADBANK) are oferring a diploma-level course on water utility basics. Professionals of three Mexican border states are taking a 100-hour course. The participants have already accredited the first of five modules.
