Elma Irais Mora Ochomogo is a student of the PhD in Engineering Sciences (DCI) program. She presented her research in the “Ethics in Operations Research (EthOR) Award 2016.” Her research work was one of the four selected projects to be presented in Poznan, Poland. The student was recognized as a finalist in the award ceremony. The European Association of Operational Research Society and the Polish OR Society organized the event. “My research focuses in developing an inventory system for collection points in case of a disaster. The purpose if to use the model in case of a disaster” said Irais Mora. International Society for Optics and Photonics awards this scholarship to students with potential contributions to the field of optics and photonics” said Julio Cesar Gutierrez, leader of EIC’s research group. The scholarship is awarded to outstanding students all around the world. The SPIE Scholarship Committee evaluated and selected the award-winning applicants. The scholarship is given in order to help future scientists and researchers with education and travel expenses. Arturo Canales studies structured light and their potential application in optics fields. He plans to study a PhD in applied optics. While Benjamin Perez-Garcia research about structured light and its applications in quantum information and communications. Perez is a second year PhD student at Tecnológico de Monterrey and has published in high impact journals. More information: goo.gl/gMRvFR

A Decade of Offering Innovative Solutions to the Automotive Industry
“
This year I have the opportunity to give a Olivier Sename’s research focuses on the improvement of course at Tec and to strenghthen the automotive systems. Since 2006, he has worked with collaboration between both universities Ruben Morales and Ricardo Ramirez, Tecnológico de Monterrey researchers in the topics of active and semi active suspension, modelling and control. Over the course of the last 10 years, they have published many papers together. The bond between the Grenoble Institute of Technology and Tecnológico de Monterrey was created. Graduate students from both institutions have benefited from this collaboration. So far, five students from Tecnológico de Monterrey have done research stays in Grenoble. Likewise, three French doctoral students have done their research stays at Monterrey Campus. This summer, Professor Sename offered a course for Olivier Sename of Grenoble Institute of graduate students. He is also working on the project of Techology has been working with the School creating a binational laboratory. “Our research is focused of Engineering and Sciences researchers. in the field of robust control and semi-active suspension Here he is pictured with his students from the summer course. systems” said Sename.

and Harvard Brigham and Women’s on Micro- and Nanotechnologies for Medicine: Emerging Frontiers and Applications. In this workshop, participants acquired the fundamentals and advances in the field of bioMEMS, biomaterials and tissue engineering. Leading experts presented the latest advances in the development of novel micro- and nanotechnologies and address a range of different challenges that are of importance to biomedicine at the interface of engineering, medicine and biological sciences. This workshop brings together MIT and Tec de Monterrey participants and provide the opportunity for the TEC researchers to collaborate with the researcher at MIT specially Ali Khademhosseini, Ali Tamayol and Nasim Annabi. They also agree to mentor and provide a host lab to the researchers, master and PhD degree student from Tec de Monterrey during their research stay.
