NEWS DON MELCHOR / BRAZIL
DON MELCHOR RELEASES THE 2012 VINTAGE IN BRAZIL ENRIQUE TIRADO PRESENTED THE 26TH VINTAGE IN BRASILIA, PORTO ALEGRE, RÍO DE JANEIRO, AND SAO PAULO.
The Don Melchor team was very pleased with their latest Don Melchor tour August 8–12 through four major cities in Brazil. Winemaker Enrique Tirado’s first stop was Brasilia, where he led a wine dinner for members of the specialized press and customers and officially presented the 2012 vintage of Don Melchor. The next day he headed to Porto Alegre for lunch with customers and owners of some of the city’s most important restaurants before meeting with journalists and ending the day with a pairing dinner with the Don Melchor Brotherhood and other guests. Then on to the Cavist shop in Rio de Janeiro, where he presented the 26th vintage of the icon Cabernet Sauvignon from Alto Maipo to
members of the city’s chapter of the Don Melchor Brotherhood before giving interviews with journalists, meeting buyers, and signing some bottles of Don Melchor. Later in Sao Paulo Tirado met with key members of the local on and off trade and led a training session with members of the Brazilian Sommelier Association. He told the group about the 2012 vintage, describing it as very expressive in red fruits, with good structure and an evolution that shows tremendously fresh flavors and aromas. The successful tour concluded with a wine dinner in the Ville du Vin Alphaville wine shop, during which Enrique exhibited the 2011 and 2012 vintages of Don Melchor.

CHILE WEEK A GREAT SUCCESS FOR DON MELCHOR IN GUANGZHOU, CHINA, WINE CRITIC JEANNIE CHO LEE PRESENTED THE 2011 DON MELCHOR DURING HER MASTER CLASS ON “CHILE’S MOST DESIRABLE WINES, OFFERING DIVERSITY AND QUALITY.”
On August 30, the renowned Asian wine critic Jeannie Cho Lee offered a Master Class on Chilean wines for key members of the press during “Chile Week.” The event, which took place August 29 through September 2 in Guangzhou and Beijing, was organized by the Chilean government to promote the country’s products and business opportunities for the Chinese public.
Jeannie Cho Lee presented Don Melchor during the master class, calling it one of the most important Chilean wines in the global wine industry and one of the most distinctive Cabernet Sauvignons in the New World.

WINE AMBASSADOR LEADS SUCCESSFUL PROMOTIONAL TOUR IN ASIA DURING A TOUR GUIDED BY WINE AMBASSADOR PABLO PRESSAC, THE WINES OF ORIGIN PORTFOLIO HOSTED A VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING THE CELEBRATION OF MARQUES DE CASA CONCHA’S 40TH ANNIVERSARY. From July 23 through August 13, Asian Zone Wine Ambassador Pablo Pressac led a number of events in some of Asia’s most important cities. The first destination was Seoul, Korea, where he offered two successful Marques de Casa Concha master classes for VIP customers
of the Lotte Department Store, organized in conjunction with Keumyang, Concha y Toro’s primary fine wine distributor in this market. Pressac also led a training session for the Sinhap sales team, in which he explained the concepts behind Marques de Casa Concha and gave in-depth explanations of the brand’s latest projects.
In Bali, Indonesia, Pablo led a wine dinner for the Lebanese embassy with a tasting of some of the outstanding red wines in this line overseen by winemaker Marcelo Papa. Pressac traveled on to Jakarta to a master class for key members of the local trade. He later participated in a Don Melchor tasting dinner during which the guests enjoyed the 2006, 2009, 2011, and 2012 vintages of the iconic Cabernet Sauvignon.
In Kuala Lumpur, Pressac met with the staff of Muihua Wine & Spirits for a training session and master class on the history, tradition, and innovation of Marques de Casa Concha along with a tasting of some of the wines included in the line. The Wine Ambassador brought his successful Asian tour to a close in Manila, Philippines, with a master class for 40 members of the press, and important chefs, sommeliers, buyers, and customers.

PAUL TUDOR MEETS WITH MARCELO PAPA AND ISABEL MITARAKIS NEW ZEALANDER WINE WRITER, CONSULTANT, AND EDUCATOR VISITED ON AUGUST 8 TO TASTE MARQUES DE CASA CONCHA AND THE 2013 DON MELCHOR.
Paul Tudor, the renowned wine writer from New Zealand, recently visited Chile to learn about some of the wines from the Frontera, Casillero del Diablo, and Marques de Casa Concha lines as well as the latest vintage of Don Melchor. The Master of Wine was received by Marcela Papa to taste the 2014 vintages of the Marques de Casa Concha Merlot, Carmenere, and Cabernet Sauvignon. During their meeting, Marcelo explained how Chile’s unique viticultural conditions and the particular features of the vineyards give rise to the Marques de Casa Concha wines. Tudor
expressed his enthusiasm for the complexity, good acidity, and character of the wines. Tudor then met with Don Melchor winemaker Isabel Mitarakis to taste the 2013 vintage of the icon Cabernet Sauvignon from Alto Maipo. She explained the special characteristics of this vintage—the coldest year in the entire history of the wine—and how they contributed to the excellent concentration, great fresh fruit expression, and smooth, elegant, and very delicate tannins in this wine.

On August 18, Chan Jun Park and Jae Youn Ko, visited Viña Concha y Toro to taste some of the company’s most outstanding wines.
He also commented on the three 2014 Marques de Casa Concha red wines, the Carmenere, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
They first met with Marcelo Papa, who introduced them to Chile’s special climatic conditions and explained why our country is an exceptional place to produce high-end wines.
Winemaker Enrique Tirado then presented the 2013 Don Melchor and talked about the wine and the characteristics of the vineyard, which is divided into the 7 blocks that give rise to the final blend of Don Melchor, the icon Cabernet Sauvignon from the Alto Maipo
The winemaker explained the unique characteristics found in Limarí as they tasted two wines from the valley: Casillero del Diablo Reserva Sauvignon Blanc and Marques de Casa Concha Chardonnay, both from the 2015 vintage.
