DON MELCHOR 2012 & 2013 AMONG THE “BEST CHILEAN CABERNET SAUVIGNONS OF THE YEAR” TWO VINTAGES OF CHILE’S MOST EMBLEMATIC CABERNET SAUVIGNON WERE RECOGNIZED IN THE MOST RECENT EDITION OF WINE & SPIRITS MAGAZINE.
The influential US magazine Wine & Spirits has once again put Don Melchor in the spotlight. This time, the 2012 and 2013 vintages were named among the Best Chilean Cabernet Sauvignons of the year 2016 in the February edition. The 2013 vintage of the icon Cabernet Sauvignon from Alto Maipo received 93 points in the June 2016 edition of the magazine, while the
2012 vintage received 92 points. Both were included in the February 2017 edition’s exclusive list of the highest ranked Cabernets in 2016. These important accolades place both vintages among the most outstanding Chilean wines and positions Don Melchor among the highest ranks in the wine industry worldwide.

WINE & SPIRITS NAMES MARQUES DE CASA CONCHA AMONG THE “BEST CHILEAN CARMENERES OF THE YEAR” THE LINE’S CARMENERE APPEARS AMONG THE VARIETY’S BEST REPRESENTATIVES ON US MAGAZINE WINE & SPIRITS MOST RECENT LIST OF THE BEST WINES OF THE YEAR. Continuing with the good results obtained for past vintages, the 2014 Marques de Casa Concha Carmenere received outstanding recognition in the most recent edition of Wine & Spirits magazine. In addition to receiving 92 points, the wine from the Peumo Vineyard in the Peumo D.O. (Cachapoal Valley) was also selected as one of the Best Chilean Carmeneres of 2016 which marks an important new milestone for this wine by winemaker Marcelo Papa.

WINE SPECTATOR INCLUDES GRAN RESERVA SERIE RIBERAS AMONG THE ‘GREAT WINES OF CHILE’ THE 2014 GRAN RESERVA SERIE RIBERAS CARMENERE, WHICH RECEIVED 90 POINTS IN MARCH 2016, WAS NAMED AMONG THE BEST WINES OF CHILE IN THE ‘ULTIMATE GUIDE TO VALUE,’ IN AN ARTICLE ON GREAT WINES TO DISCOVER.
The 2014 vintage of the line’s Carmenere received 90 points, was listed as a Top Value, and named a Smart Buy in the March 2016 edition of the influential US magazine. The publication recently launched its January/February 2017 Buyers’ Guide in which the 2014 Gran Reserva Serie Riberas Carmenere was included among the ‘Great Wines to Discover’ as the best Carmenere from among the 1,200 samples tasted, positioning the line as one of the most outstanding wines in the Super Premium category and one of Chile’s most attractive varieties.

MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR BRINGS KEY MEMBERS OF THE TRADE TO CHILE THE LATEST VERSION OF THE TOUR BROUGHT MEMBERS OF THE SPECIALIZED PRESS, BUYERS, AND WINEMAKERS TO THE CHILEAN PATAGONIA JANUARY 16–19.
Once again Wines of Chile extended an impressive invitation to key members of the US wine market to come to taste Chile’s best wines while traveling through the country’s southernmost region.
On the first day the group participated in an exclusive tasting in the Hotel Remota, one of the most impressive hotels in Puerto Natales, to board the ship that would take them through Patagonia, including stops in Torres del Paine National Park, Laguna Amarga, and Lake Nordenskjoldt, as well as Salto Grande and the Cuernos Overlook.
In mid-January, more than 20 US journalists, sommeliers, and consultants joined Chilean winemakers in Punta Arenas to begin an exclusive 4-day journey through one of the southernmost regions of the world, which provided a spectacular backdrop for showing off the finest products from the national industry.
During the activity, the passengers tasted the 2004 and 2013 vintages of Don Melchor along with the 2015 Terrunyo Carmenere and the 2013 Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon during the ‘Chile Rocks’ seminar presented by winemaker Sebastián Rodríguez.

DON MELCHOR DEBUTS WEB PAGE IN PORTUGUESE IN ADDITION TO ITS SPANISH AND ENGLISH VERSIONS, THE DON MELCHOR WEB SITE IS NOW AVAILABLE IN PORTUGUESE, SPECIFICALLY FOR THE BRAZILIAN PUBLIC—ONE OF THE BRAND’S MOST IMPORTANT MARKETS. Chile’s icon Cabernet Sauvignon now presents a Portuguese version of its web site, which provides a world-class online experience to showcase one of the best examples of the variety. The platform seeks to simplify navigation for its visitors and provide them with tools such as a store locator to facilitate online purchases from nearby stores that have Don Melchor available for sale. Users can also access information about every vintage of Don Melchor, its awards, winemaking processes, unique characteristics, and the brand’s most recent activities around the world.

PRESS AND MEMBERS OF THE US TRADE MEET WITH WINEMAKERS AS PART OF THEIR VISIT DURING THE WINES OF CHILE MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR, INFLUENTIAL WINE WRITERS AND MEMBERS OF THE TRADE VISITED THE WINERY BEFORE AND AFTER THEIR TOUR OF PATAGONIA.
Sheila Carey, buyer for Argonaut Liquors; journalist Leslie Gevriz; and Georgi Kolev, consultant to major US restaurants, met with part of the Concha y Toro team for more in-depth information about the latest projects from the major brands in the Wines of Origin portfolio.
Edition Cabernet Sauvignon. She was also especially impressed by the freshness of the line’s Chardonnay from the Biobío Valley. She also commented on the Terrunyo Carmenere’s excellent ageability and its tremendous potential in the US market.
Sheila was especially interested in the Casillero del Diablo Sauvignon Blanc and the Gran Reserva Serie Riberas Carmenere and Malbec and talked about its enormous potential in the American market.
Finally, Georgi praised the Marques de Casa Concha Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for their extraordinary freshness and style as well as the Terrunyo Carmenere and its outstanding qualities for pairing with a wide range of dishes.

EDITOR OF SPIRITO DIVINO MAGAZINE IN CHILE ON FEBRUARY 10, J.C. VIENS, EDITOR OF THE ASIAN MAGAZINE, VISITED PIRQUE TO MEET WITH MEMBERS OF THE CONCHA Y TORO MARKETING TEAM.
The Hong Kong-based Spirito diVino Asia magazine has become an important publication on wine in Asia. Its editor, J.C. Viens, was in Chile during the second week of February, and took advantage of the opportunity to visit Pirque and meet with some of the Concha y Toro team. During his visit, Viens tasted the 2008 and 2012 vintages of Carmín de Peumo as well as the 2006 and 2015 vintages of Terrunyo Carmenere, concentrating on the evolution of the Carmeneres from
the Peumo Vineyard in the Cachapoal Valley, which is recognized worldwide as one of Chile’s best origins for the variety. Viens then participated in a tasting that included vintages from three decades of Don Melchor—1996, 2006, and 2014—in which he was able to appreciate the elegance and expression of the Puente Alto Vineyard and the enormous aging potential of this icon Cabernet Sauvignon.

MARQUES DE CASA CONCHA CELEBRATES THE CHINESE NEW YEAR WITH AN EXCLUSIVE GIFT SET PRIOR TO THE CHINESE NEW YEAR CELEBRATION IN JANUARY, KOREA WAS ONE OF THE MARKETS THAT CONDUCTED A SUCCESSFUL SAMPLING WITH TWO OF THE BRAND’S MOST EMBLEMATIC VARIETIES. The Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 and Syrah 2014 were part of the wines included in the exclusive gift set prepared to celebrate the Chinese New year on January 28. The set also included distinctive accessories for the ideal gift for one of Asia’s most important celebrations.
