NEWS DON MELCHOR / UNITED STATES

DON MELCHOR EARNS 96 POINTS IN WINE SPECTATOR-THE HIGHEST SCORE EVER FOR A CHILEAN WINE WINE SPECTATOR MAGAZINE RECOGNIZED THE 2014 DON MELCHOR WITH AN OUTSTANDING 96 POINTS, MAKING IT THE TOP-RANKING CHILEAN WINE IN THAT PUBLICATION.

The influential magazine also selected it as one of its Top Wines—exceptional wines with high scores—making it the only Chilean wine in that category. Don Melchor was also entered among the Collectible Wines, which is a selection of wines with extraordinary potential and value over time.

This exceptional score is added to Don Melchor’s long list of achievements in Wine Spectator. It has appeared on the magazine’s 100 Best Wines of the World list eight times—and three of those times it was among the Top 10—which corroborates its position among the best Cabernet Sauvignons of Chile and the world.

Critic Kim Marcus said, “A ripe, rich and full-bodied red, with powerful flavors of dark cherry, plum pudding and currant that feature a lush creaminess. Firm and savory midpalate, ending with a long and refined finish that shows mineral and cocoa butter accents, supported by dusty tannins.”

“This new accolade fills us with pride and demonstrates that we are achieving our ongoing goal for Don Melchor—obtaining the expression of lively, concentrated fruit with very elegant tannins,” says Don Melchor winemaker Enrique Tirado.
