“Head north of Wrigley Field to one of my favorite neighborhoods, Andersonville. Originally an enclave of Swedish immigrants, it is now a vibrant neighborhood featuring charming restaurants, quaint bakeries, adorable shops and boutiques. The 54th annual Andersonville Midsommarfest is June 7-9, 2019. Great live music under the stars and amazing food to boot.”

By Erica Abdnour Dive into warmer weather and head to one of Chicagoland’s most fun and entertaining water parks. Perfect for a family outing, a day out with friends, or a unique date idea, these water parks across the state make for an exciting way to gear up for summer. The Water Works
Schaumburg
This indoor water park near Chicago features three water slides, a diving pool, rapid water channel, a water playground, and much more. Located inside the Community Recreation Center, The Water Works is the perfect way to do something fun on a rainy or chilly Midwestern day - while still making it feel like spring!
Raging Waves Yorkville Plan a trip to Illinois’ largest water park, Raging Waves in Yorkville! With 19 water slides, a lazy river, wave pools, and more, there is something for everyone at Raging Waves. Head down the thrilling PJ’s Plummet slide, or grab your group and make your way down the 1080-foot tunnel slide on a tripletube. The options are endless!
Mystic Waters Family Aquatic Center Des Plaines Mystic Waters is one of Northern Illinois’ largest water parks and you don’t want to miss out on this fun day. Make your way down the two 37-foot slides at Otter’s Run, plunge off the cliff dives in Sea Lion Falls, and then relax in the 550 foot lazy river at Crocodile Cove. The youngest in your group will love Beluga Beach which offers sprays and a splash pad. When you need a snack, head to the on-site Island Cafe!
Cypress Cove Woodridge Slides and sand and sprays - oh my! Cypress Cove offers a bayou-themed experience that comes complete with a beach, a ‘swamp’, three exhilarating water slides, and much more. “Piccolo Sogno has one of the prettiest outdoor patios in the city. It’s like dining in the Garden of Eden; it places you in a tranquil garden atmosphere surrounded by Chicago’s urban landscape. Besides being a fantastic setting, they have traditional Italian cuisine presented to perfection.”
The Dawson Located in River West, The Dawson is a chic, bi-level restaurant with a stunning patio space - perfect for breezy summer nights. The Dawon’s patio combines twinkle lights, plants and trees, and a cool mosaic floor, giving off a rustic yet modern vibe. Offering an eclectic array of American eats and delectable seasonal craft cocktails, The Dawson’s overall experience is one that you can’t miss.

Tuco & Blondie Looking for a bright and spunky spot to take in the summer sunshine? Head to Southport Corridor and grab a seat on Tuco & Blondie’s blue-and-yellow patio and indulge on margaritas until your heart’s content. Nosh on taco platters, fajitas, and make sure to save room for the Mexifundae - a vanilla ice cream sundae drizzled in chocolate and served in a crispy churro bowl.
Bar Cargo Colorful and trendy are keywords when describing Bar Cargo’s fantastic patio. Right in the heart of River North, this hip and trendy sports bar is perfect for authentic Roman-style pizza and Italian. We aren’t kidding when we say authentic either - Bar Cargo ships their custom flour blend from Rome and cooks it in a stone oven, also imported from Rome.
Park & Field Head west to Logan Square to bask in the epic patio that makes up Park & Field. From firepits to bocce ball, there is no shortage of things to do at this bar and restaurant. Grab a frosé from the outdoor bar (it’s an old-school camper!) and bite into the Pork Bahn Mi or the Nashville Hot Fried Chicken Sandwich.

The Bold and the Beautiful:
By Erica Abdnour (@BurgerGal)
Hot weather just requires a juicy burger on your plate and Chicago has no shortage of some good ones - trust me, I’m on a mission to try them ALL. Drippy cheese, bold seasoning, and topped with everything from standard L-T-O to apples and prosciutto, these restaurants are some top picks for a brilliant burger:
RPM Steak RPM Steak is known for, well, steak, but their burger is something dreams are made of. This juicy burger comes with an onion bun, fried onion strings, the perfect amount of dijon mustard, and deliciously melty cheddar. Don’t miss out on a perfect pairing with RPM‘s incredible Old Fashioned.
10 | CONCIERGE PREFERRED
Mott Street There’s a reason the Mott Street burger keeps popping up on “best of” lists – it’s insanely good. Simple, to-the-point, the Mott Burger features pickled jalapenos, shoestring potatoes, hoisin aioli, cheese, and BUTTER. Pair this beauty with one of Mott Street’s refreshing cocktails like the Mass Appeal or the Roasted & Toasted.
Good Measure An onion bun. Smoked American cheese. Aioli. LTO. This burger has everything you need to wake up those taste buds. The best part? If you so choose, you can add caramelized onions, a farm egg, or a whole burrata to this beast. This Rockabilly/Punk inspired River North bar is home to some super cool cocktails too, so pair that burger with a Toki Highball or a Gibson Martini.
The Moonlighter Home to one of the coolest patios in Logan Square, The Moonlighter is also home to some pretty amazing double burgers. Sink your teeth into the aptlynamed The Moonlighter - a to-the-point culinary extravaganza of American cheese, lettuce/tomato/onion, pickles, and a special sauce that you’ll love. BONUS: The Moonlighter also offers a vegan burger!
The Delta The Delta only has one burger on their menu, but really that’s all they need. Dry-aged beef piled high with bacon, American cheese, onion, pickle, and special sauce, this burger packs a savory and uber-flavorful punch that will have you coming back for more. Make sure to wash it down with DAF Whiskey Sour or a Smashley.
Casa Indigo This Pilsen staple boasts a burger that you’ll remember forever; the Jalapeno Bacon Cheddar Burger isn’t just a burger - it’s an EXPERIENCE. Comprised of a housemade jalapeno patty, bacon, Wisconsin cheddar, grilled jalapenos and onions, lettuce, tomato, mayo, habanero mustard, and ketchup, this is a burger that should appear on everyone’s foodie bucket list.

REASONS YOU’LL LOVE

Weather you’re a filet connoisseur or a dry-aged novice, the experience that Chicago Chop House offers will have you feeling like an expert in no time. From the locallysourced and sustainably-raised Linz Heritage Angus beef to the 650 wine offerings, Chicago Chop House is the perfect place to enjoy a classic Chicago summer experience.
New Happy Hour Menu Because everybody loves a great deal, Chicago Chop House has updated their Happy Hour menu! Available in the first floor lounge from 4-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, Chop House offers a variety of appetizers including prime rib sliders with provolone and horseradish cream, Blue Point oysters, filet tip sliders with cheddar and roasted red pepper aioli, and the Duke of Bacon with strips of Nueske’s maple-glazed bacon. Oh, and all call cocktails and select glasses of wine are $8.
Lunch and Libations Brand new to the Chop House agenda is a new lunch menu that you can’t miss. On Fridays, enjoy salads, burgers, sandwiches, salads, soups and a selection of Chicago Chop House’s renowned steaks and chops.
12 | CONCIERGE PREFERRED
Try the roasted beet and tomato salad with golden beets, roasted almonds, blue cheese crumbles and a balsamic glaze or the kale salad with red quinoa, apples, toasted pine nuts, pickled onions and goat cheese. Or, dig into one of three juicy burgers including the Million Dollar Burger made with Wagyu beef, foie gras and onion marmalade.
Summertime Dinner Menu Chicago Chop House is now serving Grade A9+ Wagyu Reserve beef alongside Linz Heritage Angus beef in a wide selection of wet- and dry-aged cuts. Dinner additions include a Colorado rack of lamb, half a roasted chicken and lobster mac and cheese. There are also new appetizers, salads and desserts — including a 24 Karat Key Lime Pie with gold leaf — and a selection of dessert martinis.
Lakefront Restaurant Judson Corrie, Waldorf-Astoria Hotel The Lakefront Restaurant is many things to many visitors, be it event space, concert venue, dining hall, but a favorite iteration is their brunch. They are open about their love of drinks on the patio, taking in the entirety of Lake Michigan, but with Chef Cleetus Friedman in the kitchen you know the menu will be hearty and inspired.
Southport Grocery Ramon Gomez, The Gwen Hotel One of my favorite spots for brunch is Southport Grocery. This grocery storemeets-brunch nook is a gem on Southport Corridor. Their cupcake pancakes and stuffed French toast are must-try sweet options, and the breakfast sandwich is a perfect combination of savory and sweet flavors. Make sure to try the beermosa, too!
By Erica Abdnour
Tuko Cantina Luis Torres, The Trump Hotel Tuko Cantina in Bucktown brings a unique Mexican flavor to the brunch game. The place itself looks like something out of a Tarantino movie and plenty of mezcal to go with it. Chef Vargas has been cooking in the industry for 10 years and has a rich history with Mexican delicacies. Their Elote burger and Churros sundae seem to be a hit amongst locals. Their sidewalk patio will make it a must do this coming summer.
The Lunchroom Laurel Gray, The Ritz-Carlton “I am always recommending The Lunchroom at Space 519 - an eclectic and stylish cafe within a boutique concept. Try Chef Doug’s Gold Coast Tuna Melt or the Multigrain Blueberry Pancakes with salted farm butter. Bonus: the walk-up coffee counter serves local favorite Metric that you don’t want to miss.”
Kit Kat Lounge Jonathan Rettemnier, Corporate Concierge Services When I think of the word brunch I think of the word FUN! One of my all-time favorite places for a great summer brunch is the Kit Kat Lounge located in the Boystown neighborhood. Bottomless mimosas, bellinis, and Bloody Marys paired with some of Chicago’s top drag queen talent will no doubt lead to a memorable Sunday Funday! JUNE-JULY 2019 ISSUE | 13

Bennies and Baristas:
Yolk Ups Its
Coffee Game
A mainstay on the Chicago brunch scene, Yolk has long been known for egg-ceptional (sorry, we had to) eggs Benedicts, omelettes, and pancakes. This summer, though, Yolk is elevating it’s coffee offerings, making it a go-to for a delightful cup o’ joe to go to start your day. As though you needed any more motivation to grab a Yolk breakfast, here are a few more reasons to head there now:
Live the Latte Life Or cappuccino, or cold brew...whichever coffee beverage strikes your fancy, Yolk is ready to serve you! Yolk locations have upgraded their coffee equipment and now have a full barista menu that includes everything from lattes to macchiatos and everything in between. Looking for a little flavor in your life? Make sure to add one of Yolk’s homemade syrups to your coffee concoction!
New Menu Items You asked, Yolk delivered! Straight from the Yolk Test Kitchen comes two brand new menu items that you need to try. The Avocado Toast with Smoked Salmon and the Breakfast Burrito were so popular at the Yolk Test Kitchen that they have been added to the menu! Oh, and they’re both super pretty, so you can rock that #nofilter hashtag when you post it to Instagram.
Skip the Wait No one likes waiting first thing in the morning. Skip the wait at Yolk! Make sure to pick up a card from your concierge before you head to brunch! When you present a concierge business card to the Yolk hosts, you’ll get to skip the wait and get priority seating.

Chill Out With These
Labriola Gelato Bar By Dustin Ford
With the temperature rising, it’s not unusual if you start sweating for sweets. If there is one thing Chicagoans know, it’s the cold. You can bet that this city has been perfecting frozen treats for years. Here are some chill places suggested by local concierges:
Douglas Pickett, InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile In a collaboration with Stan’s Donuts, this large rotating Gelato bar hypnotizes guests, welcoming them into from the patio to cool off. The Gelato itself is very rich and creamy; its buttery flavors makes this the type of treat that you miss once it’s gone.
Amorino Gelato Kyle Franscis, The Ritz-Carlton This European favorite has a selection of refined flavors such as Mascarpone-Fig, Stracciatella, and Tiramisu. It’s only fitting that the voguish nature of Amorino is met with artisanal presentation, which is why these treats are molded into a flower design before serving.
Mario’s Italian Lemonade Susan Alexander, Fashion Outlets of Chicago Ever since 1954, this Italian ice stand has been serving Little Italy with some of the finest Italian Lemonade in the city. From banana to watermelon and everything in between, each flavor is made with real fruit and fresh ingredients.
Black Dog Gelato Gordo’s Homemade Ice Cream Bars Marcus Hollis, Omni Chicago Hotel
Shannon Boland, LondonHouse Chicago There are three steps in ordering an Ice Cream Bar: Pick a flavor of homemade ice cream bar, dip said bar into your choice of chocolate or sweet glaze, and then sprinkle on toppings. This is such a simple concept, but it’s executed so well that is has Chicagoans coming back for more.

DropShot Coffee & Snack Bar Sports. Coffee. Food. Head to DropShot for the vintage sports equipment, stay for a golden milk latte and an egg sammy. Bonus: there are outlets at every seat.
The Wormhole Turn back time at this 90s cafe, complete with a replica of the Delorean! You’ll love the Koopa Troopa, a peanut buttery cup of goodness you didn’t know you needed.
Katherine Anne Confections Want to satisfy your sweet tooth? Head to Katherine Anne Confections and indulge in their drinking chocolate and a delish sandwich. Take a homemade truffle to go!

Once your Chicago CityPASS is activated (first used), you have 9 consecutive days in which to use your remaining admissions. So there is no rush to race up skyscrapers or through museums; enjoy yourself at your leisure.
Customize Your Experience One Chicago CityPass will get you admission to five amazing attractions: Shedd Aquarium, Skydeck Chicago, Field Museum and your choice of the Adler Planetarium or Art Institute of Chicago, and your choice of Museum of Science and Industry or 360 Chicago Observation Deck. Can you say “Hello photo ops”?

Save Money and Time Chicago CityPASS offers premium admission to five attractions - but not at ‘premium’ prices. The purchase of one Chicago CityPASS is actually 50% less than what you’d pay if you were to see each attraction a la carte. Big bonus: most attractions offer expedited entry with a Chicago CityPASS ticket, so your wait times are significantly slashed.
How To Get One Ask your hotel concierge to help arrange your Chicago CityPASS experience. Or, visit CityPass.com/Chicago to purchase mobile Chicago CityPASS tickets. Your tickets are emailed to you and then easily scanned at each attraction for entry. If you prefer a printed Chicago CityPASS ticket booklet (a great prop for your Chicago selfies), you can purchase those at the admission desk of any of the included attractions.

REASONS YOU NEED TO SEE ‘EM LIVE By Erica Abdnour
The Sights Neon lights, interactive visuals, and of course, the men in blue make up this out-of-this-world performance. Not quite a concert, not quite a comedy show, a Blue Man Group performance has it all from great music created with fun and unique instruments to the humorous Twinkie- and marshmallow- eating sketches that will offer side-splitting laughs. The Men use glowy painting elements to bring everything together, making a Blue Man Group show an unforgettable experience.
The Sounds Speaking of unique instruments, have you ever heard of a spinulum? How about magbells? We didn’t think so. Blue Man Group takes care of that with their creative take on musical instruments! Fun and inventive instruments make a Blue Man Group performance quite a showstopper and you’ll love the jams played throughout the

show. One lucky audience member will even get the chance to play the magbells on stage with the Blue Man Group, something never before seen on the Chicago stage.
The Selfies Don’t rush out of the show after the final curtain just yet! Treat your Instagram followers to a selfie with you and the blue guys themselves. After each show, the Blue Man Group will stick around so that you can grab a selfie with them - because, let’s be honest, you really do need a new profile pic and this will be a pretty cool one.
One More Thing… Did you know that when you purchase a regular priced Blue Man Group ticket, you’ll receive a free pass to ride the Centennial Wheel at Navy Pier? Head to Will Call before your Blue Man Group show to claim your show ticket and wheel pass.
